    The Draft.

    Opening Weekend of Regular Season.

    Start of NFL Playoffs.

Super Bowl (assuming the Dolphins are not in it. If they were, I might not make it through the game).

    Or something else ...?

Draft. theres really nothing negative about it. It's all about hope, promise, and new faces. It embodies that feeling that change is coming (whether or not it is will be figured out later) but that feeling can't be taken away.

the rest really depends on how successful your team is...

but no one can take the draft from you!

Admittedly, my favorite is the draft. Mainly because it allows me to dream of the potential. Plus, I love the trades and as an NFL fan as well as a Dolphins fan, I love to see how the teams might develop and look with some of these players.

That said, the opening weekend of the regular season is becoming a bigger deal to me each year for one, singular reason:

I love NFL Red Zone. Scot Hanson is tremendous. It is arguably the greatest thing the NFL has done in years and imo the most positive development, by far, of the Goodell era.

I'm not sure how anyone could pick against the start of the regular season. I mean, all the off-season events are just preparation for the actual season. What happens on the field is the only thing that matters after all.

It is what matters but often the anticipation brings more joy than the actuality. To borrow Mr. Clean's Christmas analogy it's like opening the toys versus getting out there in the afternoon and using them. That joy of anticipation when you wake up in the morning just before opening the presence and then the moment you are opening them ... pretty good stuff. :)

I have to say the draft. You still have the promise of what could be. Close second would be opening season game day.

    Draft
    Season opener
    Superbowl
    Playoffs
    Free agency

Start of the regular season for me. So many games, pools, bashing. And really, there's nothing better than spending 17 weeks of Sundays on my couch having beers, BBQ and yelling at the TV.

The draft is my favorite day of the year period. Football or not. There's just so many unknowns. Where will they go? Will they be good? Also it's a three day period where your team can get significantly better in both the short term and long term. More than anything else, it can make or break your franchise for years.

Me too, but which reminds me, now it's favorite 3 days, but I hate the new draft format. I wish it were like before, starting Saturday morning, then finishing up on Sunday. Having it start at 8pm Eastern time, sucks for west coast working folks. There are many people who ain't even home yet by 5pm Western time.

I picked opening weekend of the season.

I love the draft, however I love it more because there is football news and at this point I AM STARVED for REAL football news. So much happens in those three days that can be talked about for months.

However beginning of the season is real football and I love football.

Draft fan since I was a kid. Watched my first one while sick and trying to find something on TV, stumbled upon it and have been tuning in ever since. Always full of hope, ups and downs, unpredictable moments, every team gets a few shots to improve, seeking validation on opinions/obervations, watching the future enter the league.

Super bowl is ok, but really how great is it watching other teams go at it. Its a fun game usually, but has that limit on it. Same with playoffs generally. Opening week is nice, but teams are often rough still and the football itself can be underwhelming. Doesn't help that I have limited access to Phins games usually.

Enjoying all the observations on this. Love to see the joy football brings. Heard a great line from golf analyst - and now American Citizen - David Feherty the other day .... "Isn't it amazing that we live in a country where we can discuss such things?"

Dolphins fan so can't be the playoffs or Super Bowl. I really enjoy the Draft and will watch every second of it, but it's not actual football and after the Draft it's such a long time before what I see as the next big thing, preseason. With week one of the regular season you have went through the preseason games, including a 4th game where the starters see very limited time, and have waited for this since the previous season ended. The start of free agency and all the moves that go along with it, the Draft and seeing all the new players, the preseason games--it all leads up to this. There's just so much optimism and excitement in the air with our own team, and as a bonus... all the other teams are also playing! It signals that football is back, and for me, nothing is better than that.

It would be the playoffs if the Dolphins could ever get there on a somewhat regular basis. Until then, opening week baby.

This poll probably tells us more about where us fans see the Dolphins lately than anything else. We're more hopeful than expectant, hence picking the most hopeful events, the draft and the start of the season. Now, if we were a perennial playoff team with Superbowl aspirations I would bet the results would be a little bit different...

Hopefully we can do the poll again in a few years and compare.

While the draft is exciting because it gives hope that the team is actually bringing in new talent to upgrade the roster. As history has shown over the past decade, the Dolphins draft has had far more misses than hits. It always has been and remains a crap shoot.

Opening weekend of the NFL season remains my favorite time of the season. Especially since the Dolphins really haven't been a major factor in the playoffs for years. Perhaps if they start making the playoffs on a regular basis again, the playoffs will become more relevant to me.

I am a Dolphin fan and I really couldn't care less about the playoffs or the Super Bowl if the Dolphins aren't involved in either of them.
