Jerry is a good player who's not a good fit for our offense. Cooper is the perfect lineman for what we do. I don't know much about Louis but judging by his contract he wasn't highly sought after. The Bears OL is a running joke and they wouldn't give him a 1 year 1.6 million dollar deal? Hmmmm.

Martin-Cooper-Pouncey-Incognito-Watson starting with Louis, Jerry, Garner and Samuda for depth could give us a dominant OL to match the one we have on defense.

That's my hope as well. We're one of the teams in a position to take him even if he won't be ready in September. Not only do we have Wake and Odrick, we also have 5 picks in the top 82 and the flexibility that comes with it.

I went with Taylor because IMO he's the safer option. No need to swing for the fences at RB.

I feel the same way about waiting to draft an OT.

I like Tank, I like Hayden too. But protecting Ryan Tannehill has to come before drafting backup CBs, DE's, and safeties, injured ones at that.

I think you are going to be pleasantly surprised with Loius. He was the Bears best OLman and I think the reason he didnt get a sniff is because he is going to be recovering until camp opens. There is a chance he may not make the start of the season. That is why he was so cheap.
    Agree about Tank
Franklin is a bad ***.. will be a starter in the NFL at some point. Step is a nice RB but I dont think he has the explosion that I would want in a RB
I dont see how you could say that Ryan is not getting protected with this draft. Pugh is going to start as a RT or OG as a rookie, Williams is a perfect fit for what we want to do on the OL… perfect and he is going to going to start as a rookie as well. I have no doubt about that. Williams would have been a late 1st early 2nd rounder had be not been injured. Pugh and Williams could provide you with 2 options at RT. Thornton would be a guy that could take over for Louis if that doesnt work out. I know right about now you are thinking what about LT? I say J Martin. I have ZERO issues having him as my LT next year.. none what so ever. I have faith that he is going to improve from his rookie season AND by next year he is going to be a top 10 LT in the NFL…. YES, I said it...

  5. Martin and Watson as your two starting tackles and dominate OL, REALLY should not be found in the same post together. Every pass rusher in the league would be licking their chops to play us. If those are your two tackles, we had better spend a day 1/2 pick on a QB, because RT won't make it through a whole season.

And I have to say this as well. Fin nation about flipped out when we used our 1st rd pick on Pouncey. There are those who still haven't forgiven Ireland for that even though Pouncey has been great. If you think they won't riot in the streets if we use 1a and 2a on OL then you must be drunk. They might firebomb Jeff's house before he got home. JMO

I know Chicago fans were upset at losing Louis as they considered him their best offensive lineman. I know right after he was signed someone on here suggested visiting Bears forums and seeing comments regarding Louis. I did so and it was pretty much unanimous about their opinions of Louis and of being upset about losing him. If he is anywhere close to being as good as they fee,l it will be an upgrade on our offensive line.
I honestly just don't know how I feel about trading for a LT prior to the draft but I don't want to see Miami giving up assets to move up to get one of the big 3 left tackles. Maybe we should give Martin another chance in being a left tackle and sign Winston or Claybo to play right tackle?

I share your concerns about the OL and it's impact on Tannehill's health, even though we already have one of the leagues best backup QB's so there's no need to draft one. Then you seemed to do a 180 and say that the fans would be pissed if Ireland addressed those concerns early in the draft. Fans will be fans, but anyone who still questions the Pouncey pick should stick to cheering for the team and leave the analysis to others.

Tank just cemented his first round status.

When Ireland said Louis was just depth he was covering his bases due to Louis' health. If he's healthy........he IS beating Jerry for the starting job. I'm sure Ireland is going to amp up the competition though. He knows Jerry is on unsure footing and Incognito is in the final year of his contract. I figure a mid round guard might be added to the mix. Samuda's growth also could be interesting. He could be a RG challenger who can switch to center if anything happens to Pouncey.

If he gets to the Rams, I expect them to draft him with the 16th pick. I have also seen mock drafts which have the Jets taking Austin with their first round pick. What would be even worse than the Jets or Bills drafting Austin is the Patriots moving up in the draft and taking him. That is what one of my good friends, who happens to be a Patriots fan, wants his team to do. I don't see it happening, but that would be a scary thought, Brady to Austin on a weekly basis.

I don't either. That is a long ways to trade up, and they only have 5 picks this year. It would require at least including their 1st next year IMO, and a willing trade partner.
