Done this a few years running, kinda fun to see what combination of players YOU prefer. Going to use top 3 picks for us. A.) Lane Johnson, Jon Banks, Quinton Patton B.) Xavier Rhodes, Terron Armstead, Terrance Williams C.) Tavon Austin, Daruis Slay, Kyle Long D.) Tyler Eifert, DJ Hayden, Justin Pugh E.) Ezekiel Ansah, Larry Worford, Stedman Bailey
For me you couldn't go wrong with Werner or Carradine at 12. I know it's in vogue to drop Werner now, but I'm still a fan. If you had to construct an F scenario you could make it: F.) Werner/Carradine, Travis Kelce, Darius Slay That'd do the trick for me.
I think my dream combo today would go: Vaccaro, Hayden, Watson, Bailey/Swope, Lemonier, Ball/Stefon Taylor, Escobar, that Harvard FB (blanking on the name), Sturgis
How about pick #54 for Albert, then we package our 1st and 2nd to move up for Dee Milner? We fill 2 needs with high level talent, and we still have 2 third round picks.
There's a lot of buzz about receivers still. We've been meeting a lot of receiver prospects and flying a lot in. Plus we've been working out a number of top prospects. This is all post signing Mike Wallace and Brandon Gibson.
Austin, Hayden, Kelce (if we trade for Albert) Austin, Hayden, Watson/Armstead (if we don't) We may have to trade back up to get the first two.
Assuming no trade for Fat Albert, I'm gonna say A) Lane Johnson, Jon Banks, Quinton Patton. And, I'd be just as happy with Swope in place of Patton if he's not available with our third pick.
Well, not nearly that high anyways. Too many people are caught up in the name IMHO. The kid is very talented......too bad he doesn't have a real position yet. F; Lane Johnson; Marcus Truant; Steadman Bailey. ( I could substitute Manti Teo for Trufant or Bailey).
He has had some very serious drug issues. He signed to play baseball at FSU but had problems with drugs there and left, sitting out 2009 totally, admitting to two years of serious chemical dependency. The original story was that his grades were suffering but that turned out not to be true. well, it WAS true in a way, his grades WERE affected, but not because a lack of intelligence, just that the drugs were screwing him. Then went via the JUCO route but has been arrested, been in rehab and is supposedly clean. He said at the Combine that it's been two years since he took drugs, but who knows. He's also been arrested for DWI at least once. Given that Joe Philbin has expressly taken a number of players off the board - don't ask because I'm not telling - there is no way he will be on our board. None.
Gotcha. I didn't know all that background on him. Really only know what I saw every weekend last year at Oregon......funny how that was all skipped by the commentators.....
I think it depends. I think to Philbin, it's all about character. If Long has cleaned himself up and comes across as having a strong character, then I'm not sure Joe would take him off the board strictly based off of his past. If he comes off as a spoiled rich kid, that despite being clean, is not a high character guy, then absolutely he'll be off the board IMO.
