Sooooo, now a Defender is a cinder block and the WR is an egg ? You've definitely over-rated the difference 2 inches and 15 pounds makes. In all my years watching football i've seen nothing to indicate that the smaller the player is, the more likely he is to get hurt..... Thats something that just sounds right, and is easy to agree with if you aren't knowledgeable on the topic. Common medical knowledge tells me that larger people are more prone to general injury. Hell, the bigger you are, the shorter your life expectancy. Thats FACT.
try 250 lbs Linebacker. who can rep 70 times more then tavon austin. The muscle mass alone compared to tavon austins with any full on impact would lead to the obliteration of austin. You guys are funny tho. Bringing up RBs to prove a point lmao and saying size doesnt matter in regards to injuries. Bigger guys are prone to injuries too. Thats Why football players dont normally exceed 6'5 just like football players dont normally weigh under 180. Hence the phrase prototypical player when describing a guy not to big not to small. Desean Jackson Missed time last year from being 175 pounds. Dude was running your standard Tavon austin two yard screen route when a bigger man fell on top of him at decent speed causing broken ribs to his frail bird cage. desean jackson broken ribs/collarbone is the text book injury when a larger man hits a smaller one on the football field lmao 30 second mark and on LMAO! http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/0ap2000000101447/Panthers-vs-Eagles-highlights size dont matter tho
Because it is the year 2013 and not the 1960's? Also, that it used to be that teams told their guys not to lift weights because they would become too musclebound. Maybe there might be a thought of the use of performance enhancing drugs as well.
All things being equal, bigger would be better, but people aren't equal. When you study human anatomy you realize that humans are only about 70% similar. The other 30% is variation. And I'm just talking about the stuff you'd notice in an autopsy. Muscles would have different shapes, arteries and veins would be missing, organs would be different sizes. On a smaller level, synapses would vary substantially, ligament connection angles and muscles and bone density would vary. In short, there would be a million differences that would make one person more or less potentially injury prone than another. It would be impossible to understand them all. If you're trying to predict whether a prospect will be an injury risk or not, you're only realistic and reliable indicator is injury history. Anything else, like size, is just a statement based on ignorance. History has shown that small players are often very durable and that bigger players can be brittle if you're trying to make a perdition based on size, you'll be wrong as often as not. Bodies are simply not equal.
http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-h...les-highlights so what your saying is his size wasnt a factor in this injury ^^^^ ???? lmao
So at this point, people have given you real reasons, stats, and various pieces of evidence...and your retort is, "blah, blah, blah, you guys are wrong lol, roflmao, you guys are just wrong, herp derp!!!!!!!!" Yet another troll. They seem to multiply this time of year.
You're like talking to a goddam plant. Missed games the past 5 years Dwayne Bowe (6'2 221)- 8 Marques Colston (6'4 225)- 8 DeSean Jackson (5'10 175)- 9 Hakeem Nicks (6'1 208)- 9 in 4 years Pierre Garcon (6'0 212)- 10 Aaron Hernandez (6'1 245)- 10 in 3 years Andre Johnson (6'3 230)- 12 Vincent Jackson (6'5 230)- 12 Malcom Floyd (6'5 225)- 14 David Nelson (6'5 215)- 16 in 3 years Kenny Britt (6'3 215)- 18 Sidney Rice (6'4 205)- 20 Austin Collie (6'0 204)- 21 Laurent Robinson (6'2 205)- 36 Gronkowski (6'6 265)- missed as many last year as Jackson and looks questionable to start this year Meanwhile... Nate Washington (177 lbs)- 0 games the past 7 years Wes Welker (5'9 185)- 3 the past 8 years Steve Smith (5'9 185)- 6 the past 8 years Santana Moss (5'9.5 181)- 9 the past 10 years
youve yet to give me any proof. ive coached enough pee wee football games to know what happens when a larger more developed human body hits a much smaller body on a regular basis. To say that Tavon Austin has the skill of avoiding contact is simply personal opinion. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-h...les-highlights lol no one wants to touch this video when a larger man simply falls on a guy austins size and breaks his ribs and collarbone. clearly demonstrating my point. yet all you offer are running back comparisons lmao no **** bigger backs are prone to injury there running through tight holes with guys clawing at there legs.
You've been given plenty of fact, and instead you give us literally, pee wee football. Golly, thanks, its all cleared up now.
Since when did pee wee football involve larger more developed human bodies? You might wanna start checkin' IDs. No it's fact. That's why he's about to become a millionaire. ?? I just showed you a list of bigger receivers missing more time to injury than Jackson. How 'bout you check out their videos of getting injured. Seriously just go back to pee wee football and leave the NFL talk to the grown ups. BTW, my reaction to hearing parents actually left you alone with their kids after reading all your immature responses including lmao's ad nauseam: mind - blown.
