We have a bunch of high draft pick depth? Ok.

Dude, if you can find a trade partner, you can trade for another one next year. You can exchange this year's late picks for next year picks. You can, uhm, draft higher/better talent.

    What? Only in this forum can you find someone(s) willing to debate 1/31, 2/2, 2/10, 2/22, 2/29, 3/12, 3/15, 3/20, 3/31

"No, no, no. We have enough young players on our championship caliber team."

    What?

A glorified WR on a 1 year deal doesn't prevent anything.

Jeremiah(?) on NFL channel said no one was willing to meet KC's price for Albert. I hope he's right on this one.

First of all the point is moot because there's no chance SF gives up that much. But clearly you don't understand the point of what I'm saying. You don't have lots of young players that need playing time on a championship team. You do however on a developing team. The Dolphins just don't have that many open positions, if you don't want to understand that, there's nothing else I can say.

The argument that many 2nds and 3rds is somehow better than a couple of 1sts and less picks in rounds 2 and 3 is a flawed one. You can say "only on this board" if it makes you feel better, but the facts are that the higher you pick, the more likely it is that you're going to find a good player.

Here are Miami's 1st round picks the past few years:
Jake Long, Vontae Davis, Jared Odrick, Mike Pouncey, and Ryan Tannehill.

Here are their 2nd and 3rd round picks:
Phillip Merling, Chad Henne, Kendall Langford, Pat White, Sean Smith, Patrick Turner, Koa Misi, John Jerry, Daniel Thomas, Jonathan Martin, Olivier Vernon, and Michael Egnew.

Which group would you rather have? Sure, there are more players in the 2nd group, but there's a bunch of crap. Despite the fact that there's far fewer players, the first group has far more success, and far more talent.

I'd much rather come out of this draft with a few players with a lower bust rate, and greater potential to be a good player than a bunch of players with a higher bust potential and lower potential to be a good player.

He actually makes some sense if you'd listen to him. We have a good young team, what we still need are a few big-time playmakers.
The extra draft picks would provide us with some nice young depth, but I think you're most relevant point would be to trade for some higher draft picks next year.
But I believe I read Ireland doesn't envision signing 11 draft picks, let alone 15

I just hope his health is fine. The Dolphins should pick Armstead later in the draft as insurance. Have a good day.

    Hi guys -

As usual take my information with a grain of salt, but I've heard from within the complex that this is all bull****. No medical report has even been faxed to Miami regarding Albert.

If you're familiar with NFL trades, that's literally step #2, after "call the GM to see if they want to move him"

What if you don't think you like anyone around 12, and you get a 1 next year. IT's steep and I don't think it'll happen, but it might.

They really have no leg to stand on, and Alberts value only gets worse after they draft Joeckel at #1. Theres no way they keep both obviously, so they then HAVE to move albert. I sincerely doubt they want to trade him to a division rival but it appears the chargers are the only other team offering a challenge to us. If we hold out and keep it at the late 2nd rounder im gonna be pumped.

For me, it would depend on what else you are getting along with the future 1. I don't think Ireland will do that though. They're all about putting a winning product on the field as soon as possible to save Ireland's job, to win back the fans, and to get support for the stadium. Not sure they'd give up their best shot at adding another affordable difference maker this year by taking a pick next year.

He prevents us from needing to draft another glorified WR in the first round. But I don't want to piss on anyone's pre draft fantasies so I'll be quiet now.

Doesn't prevent anything. And at least Eifert can block. Right now we got 2 DT's, 1 FS and a TE starter all on 1 year deals. It wouldn't surprise me to see 3 draft picks go to those positions by the time the draft is done.

Trading for Albert AND meeting his salary would be the biggest mistake this team has made since Wayne believed Jimmy's proclamation that Wannstedt was a coach!

From what I've heard, I believe they said Albert lives in Miami, and had a physical last week?

I'm in on Eifert... the stinkin' Jets have me nervous surrounding us in the 1st.

The Dolphins cant make this trade until after KC picks. Once they officially take a LT they will have zero leverage. At that point you tell KC to take our lowest 3rd or GTFO.

Albert had better be standing right outside the doctor's office for his physical if it unfolds that way.

He said wait until after KC picks. They haven't picked yet.

Once KC picks, the Dolphins could very likely lose all their leverage. KC could take Fisher, which isn't good for Miami's prospects of getting a LT.

Ireland needs to win this year. At this time his OT position is maybe the weakest in the league. Depending on a 2nd year guy at LT (Martin) and a rookie at RT is not too smart unless you have job security, which he hasn't.

And Ireland will look really naïve again. Instead of getting Jake done last year, he waited and let it go until he's in this position. Just not smart GM'ing.

Dolphins aren't getting one of the big T's at 12 regardless of what KC does.

I don't see it that way at all. The Dolphins hold all the cards not the Chiefs. I don't get the impression they are too many other teams in line for Albert and his salary demands.

    Draft Fisher.

Draft someone other than a tackle.

    Trade back out of #1.

Move Albert to RT for a season. Maybe wait for more suitors to develop.

Trade Albert to another team that isn't Miami for a 3rd round pick.

    Fine.
And will take someone later and play Martin at LT for another year.
It's better than giving up #42 and paying Albert more than we would've had to pay Jake, no?

But you can't sit around and wait either, you have to cover yourself. If they wait until after the draft, then a 2nd or even 2 more teams can swoop in and force us into a bidding war. We may have to really overpay at that point.

But we already are going to overpay at this point. I'm not saying wait until after the draft, just until after KC picks.
I don't see a bidding war happening. I don't think too many teams want to give Albert 9 mil.

Yeah but that position of all of them on the line is über important and needs above average to elite play and you more than likely aren't going to get that from an after the draft FA or rookie you just drafted. That is a HUGE gamble if you do, and it could hurt your team to the point of injury to your prize asset, Ryan Tannehill.
