    12. MIAMI DOLPHINS: TYLER EIFERT, TE, NOTRE DAME —So many hedges and caveats trying to divine this pick. Florida State CB Xavier Rhodes might be the safest, most predictable call. And Alabama RT D.J. Fluker also looms possible. I might go Rhodes or Fluker if I wanted the safest bet. A trade-up to grab LT Lane Johnson or even Eric Fisher is possible; Miami has the ammo to go movin’ on up like The Jeffersons. Even a trade-down would not shock. (Much depends on whether the Dolphins complete a predraft deal to acquire chiefs OT Branden Albert.) I have a hunch about Eifert, though. Twelve is higher than his typical projection, but I am told GM Jeff Ireland and coach Joe Philbin are enchanted by Eifert, seeing in him what the Patriots have in Rob Gronkowski — somebody who can wreak havoc in the red zone and continue giving Ryan Tannehill all he needs to make it big. Eifert is too tall (6-6) for DBs to cover and too fast for most linebackers. If this choice is a bit of a “reach,” it’s a calculated gamble that could hit big for the Dolphins.

I don't know how he thinks Rhodes or Fluker would be the safest bet!

Rhodes is a CB who could wind up getting burned many times and not really fitting with the system. Fluker also may have trouble against DE's like Wake on his side.

Eifert seems much safer. The safest players in the draft, imo, are the two OG's if that's what you are looking for.

I also, actually think Austin is one of the safer picks because he can do so much and make a ton of big plays at multiple positions even if he's not a standard one-position player.

Based on what I've seen on film, there's no may about it. DJ Fluker will have trouble with defensive ends like Cameron Wake on the left side. His feet are so poor that he will need to be covered up with a tight end on most plays.

I'm wondering how much of a reach Menelik Watson would be at #12. The guy can flat out play.

Totally agree. Aside from the OGs, Eiffert would likely be the safest pick in the draft that we realistically have a shot at.

If Eifert is anything like the gronk, it's not a reach.

Can you imagine the weapons with Eifert and Keller on the field at the same time? Along with the WRs?

They would be a poor man's Pats duo (Gronk/Hernandez) and our WR's are better than theirs right now (since Welker is gone).

Or, if they landed Eifert and then were able to get a Bailey later on? Good grief.

I don't see how they could pass up Eifert for a CB or DE (I could see it if they had Lotulelei rated really high and went BPA). But the weapon he would bring ...

However, it looks like both Eifert and Austin are rising in the draft (as often happens) and both could go top 10 because of the ptential weapons they bring. The Jets could go Eifert at 9.

Here's a look at what Eifert has to offer

IMO the jest are so focused on having the best D that they will try to get a playmaker for the D. Ryan is a defensive coach and they have really fallen lately. I think their first pick is def D

IMO you can try to trade back a few spots for an additional 3rd, and possibly even a 2nd. Grab Eifert, then trade back into the first round and grab Watson.

That two players who very likely will start for you, be solid, and have incredible upside for the future.

For our #1 pick I want a player we can't find the likes of in any draft or FA, a guy we know the moment we draft him that he'll be a priority mainstay for a decade.
For me that's among 4 guys:
    Austin
    Vaccaro
    Eifert
    Lotulelei

To me EIFERT will be the pick. He can be our version of Gronk, and get us the ten yarders and move the sticks.

Completely agree - except for Vaccaro. Not that high on him. The other three, definitely (my preference would be Austin/Eifert then Lotulelei third).

These could be top 5 or better guys at their position, hard to go wrong with any of them. Impact, playmaking positions, guys you would need to gameplan for, that can create mismatches, or cancel them. Watch us take a guard.

    Rising my ***.

Everyone's had these guys' tape, combine stats, interviews, pro days, workouts etc, in the books for a while now. Rising/falling this late in the process is like trying to change your GPA in the last semester. It happens, but very rarely. What happens far more often is teams flooding the rumor mill with misinformation, and finalized draft boards/info somehow leaking out. Both instances could cause reports of a guy rising or falling but neither scenario actually involves it happening.

Take Eifert. Add Bailey. Heck, throw Swope in too. Plus Wallace, Hartline, Keller, Gibson. Impressive.

I still doubt Matt Moore does much with it since he is being hurried on every-other snap since replacing the IR'd Tannehill.

Hate to say it, but pick number one needs to be an OT unless we sign or trade for an OT first.
