No question the kid is a freak with HUGE upside.
I think something people don't know about him is that we can line him up in redzone packages on offense as well. Here is a great video showing all the different places he lined up on defense in 1 game. With his size and speed we can line him up in most places, and he can easily cover TE's. I don't see the connection. Ted Ginn's sole attribute was blinding straight line speed. This kid has all the attributes to be a stud.
Why not just say you're really worried Dion Jordan will be a horrible field goal kicker for us....it makes as much sense as what you just said.
Ted Ginns biggest fault was his reluctance or hesitancy for physical contact. Dion Jordan is opposite in that he loves physical contact. I see comparisons of Dion Jordan to Jason Taylor and that is a very good thing. Welcome to Miami Dion Jordan.
The downside to this pick is not Ted Ginn. It's Manny Lawson. Which isn't THAT bad. The upside to the pick is closer to Aldon Smith.
I don't see anyway this kid busts (outside of injury, knock on wood). He's smart and driven...most busts lack one or both.
He is a bust until he proves otherwise but the potential of a good pick sure looks possible here. Edit: The thought of how much the pass rush just improved sure doesn't make the divisional teams comfortable.
Yeah i agree. I don't see this guy busting. He might not pan out to be worth a 3rd overall, but i think there is a much higher chance that he'll be productive rather than be a bust.
That slot coverage is amazing. A guy who has the height, speed, agility, and versatility to cover the Aaron Hernandezes of the world in the slot, while also lining up on the line and rushing the passer traditionally. That's huge, especially against teams like New England. This is a visionary, cutting-edge pick IMO.
Agreed. Aaron Curry busted and he was the Andrew Luck of Linebackers coming out of college. I am not expecting Dion Jordon to bust. I LOVE this pick. I am very excited to see what he brings to the defense.
That is impressive- the most impressive thing from that video imo is the comment at the end that Jordan's 10 yard acceleration was faster than any WR in the draft this year. That's ludicrous.
Yep, this is one of the things one sees on the videos, he plants that front foot he is g-o-n-e like a sprinter, but he's 6'7, once his labrum heals he start to gain a bit of bulk but right now he is more of a speed rusher/coverage guy Send that dude on an A Gap blitz and he will make some interior OL's look silly.
Hurray. We're back to taking a moment when we should be talking about interesting things relating to football and turning it back to discussions about some internal poster turf war based on peoples' opinions about an unrelated topic. LOVE IT
But the point is like most of our #1 picks, is the kid going to be great, HOF great? "Oh hell yes he will be" in fact the kid plays multiple positions AND kicks 50 yrd. FG's with his week side leg backwards, backwards!!!!!! Balance guys balance
