2013 Draft Thread Day 2

Can't really hate on the shotgun plan. I did really want Bailey though. Doubt he'll be around.

 

I guess we move up for Patton or Bailey or Thomas

 

Might even strike gold in one of those depth picks.

 

Ireland has filled some needs, grabbed some ammo for the later rounds in a very deep draft and possibly started adding more picks for next year.

I keep reading "WR...WR...WR" Hartline, Wallace, Gibson, Keller, Matthews, and I think Thigpen will play a lot of slot this season, sounds like a pretty damn good group to me. Maybe I'm biased though.

We needed WR's...DONE

We needed an OLB/DE who can rush and cover...DONE

We needed LB'ers that can cover...DONE

We needed a CB...DONE

That's 11 players added through FA and the Draft. All 11 are possibilities to be day one starters. We still have 8 picks left in this years draft. That's pretty damn good.

 

I will take one good third round pick over 3 mediocre 4th round pick, any day of the week. This wasn't suppose to be a talent laden draft, yet Ireland is loading up on late round picks. It makes no sense to me.

I didn't expect much from Ireland based on his history in the draft as the Dolphins GM. He appears to be living up to his standards of being very suspect in the college draft. Right now the only player selected that I think will make an impact for this team is Jordan. I am not impressed with the other players selected by Ireland so far in this draft.

49ers just took another DE, Corey Lemonier, to add to Tank Carradine earlier. That's taking "you can never have enough pass-rushers" to extremes!

 

that's my thought. good pick you get a starter late. mediocre pick you get a back up. bad pick, you bust out, but it's only a 4th.

 

What are the chances, the Pats go Barkley?

You are assuming that a pick 25 picks later has a much worse chance of being successful than the pick we had. It just doesn't seem to pan out like that in reality. I think the chance of success on 1/2 at picks around 100 is better than your chance of 1/1 at 80.

 

That's what happens when you are already damn good and have more picks than anyone else in the draft. Every pick is almost a damn luxury pick. I yearn for the day we get to that point.

 

They could still use a Safety and DE

 

Ireland does have a good history of finding gems in the mid to late rounds.

And why ain't you impressed with Jamar Taylor? Heard nothing but good things about him.

 

Just felt like a Pats type move to me.

 

I was pretty happy and content with the way this draft was going up until the trading of the second third round pick, sure we picked up some later 4th rounders, but... I'd have rather had a third round talent. Not sure I understand that move

 

swopes will be there tomorrow...good move to get two picks imo

 

Early fourth is usually a good place to be. We have 3 picks there.

 

Barring any setbacks/complications he'll be ready for camp and most likely even minicamp...probably not rookie camp or OTA's, however.

 

I love the move. It's 2 early 4ths and this is a draft that is middle heavy. Meaning a late 3rd isn't much different then an early 4th. And we got 2 of them. Good trade.
