ESPN had him listed as a guard. I'm a lot more interested to hear hes a tackle. He's got great size and he's been playing in the SEC, so I like the pick for sure.

Off topic, but how in the world were the Tennessee Volunteers a middle-of-the-pack-SEC-East-team? Tyler Bray may get drafted. Cordarelle Patterson and Justin Hunter are either in the first round or right outside of it. Dallas Thomas is a third rounder and will make the Dolphins team. That's a lot of pros for one year, especially at the skill positions. That's not even mentioning Da'Rick Rogers was once on their team as well. These guys should have been outscoring teams at will (other than Alabama, who has a lot of pros themselves) with pro prospects like that. Seems like there was a coaching problem somewhere.

Anyway, Dallas Thomas, welcome to the Miami Dolphins!

Hwo do you mean "Ireland failed"? Do you not believe what other experts are saying/have said about him?

Dallas is a versatile, athletic, smart kid with tons of upside. The Dolphins needed, badly I might add, someone who could come in and plat on the left side at a high level. So...what's the problem?

  15. I really like this pick. Would have much rather moved up and taken Armstead, but Thomas and John Jerry can both play guard and tackle. Maybe with Jerry losing so much weight he is the one moved to RT and Dallas Thomas fights it out with Lance Louis for RG. I hated the idea of trading for Alberts, but at this point, I would wait until after the draft and offer KC next year's 2nd rd pick. If they want more let them keep him, but I can't see us starting the season with what we have now at the tackle positions. Nor do I see us finding anyone left in the draft to fix the problem.

I really liked the Dallas Thomas pick, as well as the two before him. But I have to say the Will Davis pick blows my mind. To pick a kid based purely on potential, who HATES contact, and is at least a year away from contributing, when Jordan Poyer was still on the board, makes me think they may have started celebrating already about the other picks and someone started passing around a bong. They HAD to be high to think trading up for this kid was a good idea.

I don't know how good the guy is but I am not comfortable with the idea of a low third round rookie starting at left tackle for us.

Well... how many Drafts has Ireland been in charge of (without Parcells) where he drafted an Olineman? 2 drafts? And he got Pouncey, who is terrific, and Martin, who can't fairly be graded yet.

Not sure he plays tackle I think he replaces Incognito at LG, Jerry slides to tackle and Incognito moves to RG. Martin moves to LT.

Hmm... I think we should trade a 2014 second rounder for Albert. Too much movement in our offensive line is not good. If we can get Albert, keep Martin on the right side, then Dallas would be battling for either guard spot against Richie or Jerry.

im an ireland supporter, but the offensive line is still a ridiculous question mark. Its the only spot on the team i truly feel Ireland deserves to be hated on for. We've suffered Marc Colombo. Vernon Carey stayed too long. John Jerry isn't awful but hes not quite good. We now have a question mark at LT in martin and no RT again. Garner is still in play for us. Even Incognito leaves much to be desired.

There's been a lot of money and picks put into this unit and its still just...mediocre at best.

and that will account for some of the turnover, yes. but we're in a spot where we NEED Martin to be the guy now and don't know what to do at RT just yet.

Im not hating. Irelands attacked every weakness this team had going into the offseason. CBs are addressed, got a TE, younger more talented ILBs, wr corp is much more talented, shiny new pass rusher that can cover? awesome.

    Just hope oline works out.

I still don't get the Dallas Thomas pick... We already have Richie Incognito, John Jerry, and signed Lance Louis and you draft ANOTHER GUARD? Sure, you can project him to tackle all you want but if he is our day 1 starting tackle on either side Tannehill will get killed.

The Will Davis pick really pissed me off. Kid can't tackle worth a ****. He had a lot of penalties too. He has the athletic ability to excel, but I doubt he ever does. You can't take the p*ssy out of someone.

So, where do you guys think he plays. I think he competes with Incongito at LG and eventual replaces him either this year(must be special to beat out Richie) or next year. I think they will sign Winston to play RT for a year until Yeatmen is ready to compete there. Martin will man LT :/. Jerry and Louis will compete for RG.
    I think 2013 starting OL:
    LT-Martin LG-Incognito C-Pouncey RG-Louis RT-Winston
    2014 and beyond:
    LT-Martin LG-Thomas C-Pouncey RG-Louis RT-Yeatmen

Well, Eric Winston,Bryant McKinnie, and Winston Justice are all just sitting there waiting to suit-up in Dolphins uniforms.

We could sign all three for under 10 mil in cap this year.

Winston a three year contract that we can easily get out of in the 3rd year.

McKinnie a two year incentive laden deal.

Justice a one year show me contract for near league minimum.

They should be working on all three right now.

The OL could be a strength next year instead of a weakness.

Justice can play LT as well. He is one of the most athletic OT's in the league and lead the NFL in PBE the first six weeks last year.

True unless they aren't excepting Thomas to start this season. There's still Louis at RG but I think it'll be a case of the best 5 start at whatever position. Camp will be interesting . Martin could have his hands full against Jordan in practice.

yeah, Ireland has really failed on most if not all mid-round picks so far. This guy making it would be more out of the norm than expecting him to be good. Let's hope Ireland's luck has changed for the better.

this is his 3rd.....and it's clear that Ireland is drafting & signing free agents to make a huge push to win this year. If you can't see that you're blind. This whole off-season in his going all in with his poker chips and not about development of the team in the long run.

ESPN lists the positions wrong many times.

Dallas Thomas plays LT in college. He can play OG, or OT, he is very versatile, athletic, and intelligent, so that's why he can be plugged anywhere in the left side of the football. Many people had this kid ranked ahead of Joeckel, who went top 5 in round 1. Problem is, our kid Thomas played in the SEC so his stats might not be as eye popping as the other prospects because the SEC is just brutal and has so many good players and teams, making it hard for Thomas to stand out more. But make no mistake, he's a good pick.

Let's say you're a house painter. Your next job called for you to paint house red so you buy red paint and get 2/3rds done, when the home owner sells and a new person buys but they want house to be blue.

According to your logic, its the painter's fault he has to start over.
