I think a C is a lil harsh in there. I'd stretch to a B, but am along the lines of a B- at this point.
The Jordan pick scares me a lot. Is he a freak athlete that can be huge for us, absolutely. But not being a schematic fit, needing to add about 20 lbs, and having shoulder issues it could be someone we have to wait on. Usually a pick at the #3 position isn't a "project" type player. Just a question though, does anyone know when his shoulder will be at 100% so he can start putting that weight on? And also for the RB question listed above, I still think Lattimore in the 5th is a good pick in which I hope to see.
Rams are stacked, but Fisher already had a franchise QB to build around. Happy with plain ole average Joe.
The Rams are in a crazy tough division; while Fisher's 6 winning seasons out of his first 17 just screams "Hall of Fame" to many, I'm not impressed by his record so far. He still has a chance to turn it around over the next 17 years, though, because I'm sure he has guaranteed employment in the NFL for as long as he wants it. Personally, I am glad the Phins didn't "win" the Fisher sweepstakes. I did like their draft, though. I'm not sure I get the point of the one line negative responses to this post. I don't necessarily agree with all the grades, but "here's what I think and here's why I think it" is a good, quick guide to posting and responding. I think anybody who has the stones to offer an opinion about the draft deserves better than "you're no Mel Kiper" or other easy insults.
You must be on your phone, so I understand the typo on your part. Being the great guy that I am, I took the liberties to correct it for you.
I quite simply find the bolded quote above astonishingly unimpressive. The number of high school and college students, and for that matter grad students, who finally "get it" in academics, sports, and just plain growin' up between their junior and senior years is astonishingly higher than those who have it together going into their junior year. Using that for an excuse to be less than impressed is rather weak!
Seriously bad logic Ven ... and irrelevant to my point since you are selecting an obvious bust in hindsight. All I have to do to ruin your rationale is post a similar trade that turned out well which would be just as irrelevant as your post. You are posting a known bust whose end value has already degraded into nothingness and trying to compare it with a player that still has Top 5 value. Apples and Oranges
You are missing the point. Would have been a bad trade is past tense of a prospect whose true value has long since been decided. The Russel example is a completely irrelevant comparison because you are comparing a known quality with a still unknown quality that still retains its Top 5 potential. C-Snips premise is valid
Good points Gunner. The trade itself was very impressive. Very. And as Den mentioned a lot depends on how coaches intend to use Dion. The Dion move alone is probably an A- to me. A clearer A if I could see the coaches vision better and understand the fit. Taylor is a B- to me. Thomas a D and Davis an F.
I can't personally stand Mayock...but I noted something he said while conversing with fans on ESPN.com. "Of course you love your draft picks. All fans think they nailed the draft on draft day. Come talk to me in a year. Then we'll talk about your draft." I seem to remember everybody talking about how stellar our draft was last season. In retrospect....we really still don't know...but there are still some serious question marks we thought last year's draft had solved. Hopefully this draft class will fill some of those.....but until I see otherwise, I am not real happy with how our draft went this year.
My response to Mayock on that would then would be: Why are you bothering to give a negative or positive opinion of any draft pick during the draft if that is the way he views the opinions of fans?
FWIW... Taking rounds 4-7 into consideration would not have raised my C grade on the Dolphins draft. too many missed opportunities to take better (imo) players. That's the short version.
This is why I'm so excited about this offseason. I think we've turned a corner and should no longer be floundering in mediocrity. I just hope our first 5 games don't wreck the season, we have a ton of turnover and gel time is a must.
