What signifiance do folks attach to the fact that many wanted the Dolphins to draft Ryan Swope as early as the second or third round, whereas he wasn't drafted until the sixth?

The Dolphins, as well as every other team, passed on Swope three or four times after many of us thought the Dolphins should take him.

Compound mistake of a poor evaluation of Brandon Gibson.

Well, I think its clear that all the teams had much larger medical concerns regarding his concussions than we in the public were made aware of....

...or perhaps the public isn't aware of various things a good bit of the time, and Swope is just an example of such.

To me its like the Matt Flynn passing, If we wanted him we would have gotten him. In this case Sherman probably knew something we didn't. No issue on passing on him.

You mean the smartest people in the room aren't the ones who were pissed at the team when the 3rd round had ended and the Dolphins hadn't taken Swope? :headscratch: ;)

Would you say people typically assume the humble position of believing they're unaware of all the relevant information, or the grandiose position of believing they know better than the team?

The only consideration in drafting a player is how he played in college? There isn't anything specific to the team doing the drafting that you may be unaware of or not privy to?

I think most people have a realization that they don't have all the information. However, fans still form opinions based on the information that has been presented to them.

Is the point of this thread to scold the people who formed opinions based on incomplete information? You tell them man... put those bastards in their place.

Sure, pretend that there aren't people here who profess to know better than the team in these matters. Pretend that those folks were humble, unassuming individuals who gave the team the benefit of the doubt. ;)

You talk as if even teams have all the info at their disposal they make infallible decisions. That has been disproved since draft year one.

This was the surprise of the draft for me. Take a guy who knows the offense, who would fill Bess' role, who works well with our QB and who has been highly productive and.... nothing.

I'm completely dumbfounded. I can understand being scared away by the concussions (though he never missed a game) but, in the fifth, you're just praying for a guy who contributes anything. Let alone a guy who instantly fills a very specific role and has next to no learning curve.

what's the point of creating a stupid thread that states the obvious? We as fans obviously form opinions on partial information. It's friggin' absurd you think we should temper our experience as armchair GMs during this glorious time simply b/c we weren't there for the actual interviews and don't have the medical records in front of us. :001_rolleyes:

Remember when the "surrounding talent" around Tannehill wasn't the problem. The fans knew nothing. The Miami Dolphin organization knew more than us and that it was primarily Ryan Tannehill holding the offense back.

Davonne Bess was amongst the league's most efficient WRs and top playmakers according to this "advanced" NFL metric. Surely we remember this?

4 months later the team signs 2 prime WR Free Agents, a prime TE Free Agent, and trades Davonne Bess for a bag a footballs

I'd give it a rest with the fans knowing nothing nonsense

I said "most" people. There are definitely people that feel they know more than the team. Those would be the people that would not qualify for "most".

Again, what is the point you are trying to make? To scold those people? Go get 'em man...
