Thomas and Gillisee I'm very skeptical about. Just concerned about the Oline I don't think we did enough to really upgrade it. Basically the ENTIRE offence rests upon how much Jon Martin has improved. If Jon Martin fails were pretty much ****ed... Would have been nice to take a developmental guy just in case. If that meant moving up then so be it. I'm really excited for this defense, could be top 5 easy if Jordan makes an instant impact.

I have a feeling we're not done shopping for another tackle.

I hope not. If Louis isn't 100% Then Jerry wont be moved to RT. Not sure what Thomas is playing. RT? Rotational guy? I mean they must have a plan for him since they took him in round 3.

exactly, a C isn't even a bad grade, it's not like you can't fill needs with a C draft. I knew when I made this poll that B would receive the majority of the votes, which is fine, honestly had we taken Goodwin at 77 or taken Boyce at the end of the 3rd instead of Will Davis, with C Washington at the end of the 5th... those 2 moves would have turned this into a B+ draft for me, because I liked our first 2 picks.

without knowing what the plan really was, i think as a fan with no knowledge of the situation, its pretty arrogant to make a claim that guys who get paid to do this 365 days a year misread something and you are the clever dude who recognized it

You're right. And it goes without saying that the FA signings should be factored in, unless you believe that Ireland approached the draft with no regard for what he'd done in FA.

and you think the picks we made had nothing to do with what happened in free agency before ?

I like Washington but there's already a logjam at DE/OLB with Vernon, Wake, Jordan and Misi. Kaddu and Jenkins provide additional depth so it's not hard to see why Ireland didn't go there. He signed the premier deep threat in the league so Goodwin would've been a luxury.

DT, OT and FS are positions that weren't addressed in the draft or in FA. If you're looking to nitpick start there.

I don't think it's a logjam, Washington is not an OLB, he is strictly a DE, regardless of down or distance, most of the guys you named don't fall under that category...not to mention the old adage that you can never have too many pass rushers. and this is the 5th round we're talking about here.

INOW we have Wake, who's one of the best edge rushers in the game, we're adding Jones, one of the best edge rushers in the draft. We already have Odrick who's a decent starting DE. Misi and Vernon can also play DE. How many of them do you want?

Behind Starks and Soliai we have a 2nd year guy who's never started a game and...? Behind Clemons we have...? behind Martin and Garner we have...?

I think you're focused on the wrong positions.

there's something odd about a poster knocking a GM for not taking a 5th round pass rusher even though he already used the first two picks to take the first defensive player of the draft, a pass rusher.

yes, every GM factors who they added and lost in free agency into their draft plans. I still don't understand what you're trying to say. I don't understand how giving this draft a C is akin to dismissing what Ireland did in March but a B or higher isn't.

are you serious? is there anyone who didn't think we'd take at least 1 receiver? every mock that I've seen here had us drafting one, some even had us taking two, and this was before Bess was traded.

I'm asking for a grade that symbolizes how you personally feel about all the picks overall, factoring in value, reaches, steals, how you think they fit into the system, how they fit with the players already on the roster. obviously we're not grading the draft today based on the players' production in the pros, they haven't played a down in the NFL yet.

uh I gave it a C, that's one grade lower than what majority chose and the grade that got the 2nd most votes.

oh I think he's gotten a pass his entire time in Miami based on what I've heard here.

Do you know how many times I heard this about Olivier Vernon last year? Now it's interesting, as I haven't seen him brought into ANY conversations since about last... August or so.

We will see, but at this juncture, consider me very very skeptical about Jenkins especially with a handful of reports I read about him yesterday. I don't like any linebacker that has a tough time tackling

Ive seen talk of Vernon since then. I think they will both be solid players (Miller and Vernon) with Miller being the better of the two. I'm confident the running game will improve from last year with Miller instead of Bush. At the very least, be much more consistent.

Using this analogy then, fans trying to predict who the Fins would/will take before the draft is completely ignorant as well ?? Additionally, no one (save for CK, Boomer, KB, etc) should have voted anything other than A+, again using that analogy.... No, I'm not a CK type, nor do I pretend to be, but I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express once...

These boards are all about opinions...I don't agree with everything everyone said on this board, and you're right that trying to evaluate a draft, particularly hours after it's completed is inane and ridiculous...however, it's still fun to hear/read the opinions of all the guys on the board, including the ones that feel our opinions are completely ignorant...

I'm one who didn't think we'd take a WR and if we did, it would have been a late round flyer on someone. The name most often bandied around here was Swope. I didn't feel they'd take him because of his concussion history... For the record, they took a receiver in Sims though...

LB, we know it's your opinion, but your disdain for Ireland comes thru in just about every post... It's makes one who's reading your posts just waiting for your shot at Irish, rather than the content of the post... But that's ok..it's you're opinion and you're certainly entitled to it...

Yep, exactly. And we must all remember this is only for fun. It's not like any of our jobs is hanging on the teeter with whether or not it is a good draft or not. We all have different opinions, and that is all they are, opinions (Mine are much more educated than most of course :shifty:)

Let's please accept that we all have our own opinions and try to remain civil to one another....let's not become Jest fans.. Please!

Will Davis selection only thing I would really question. Don't like when he does that and it hasn't lead to anything positive so far.
