Well, it's good to get National praise, but doesn't really mean anything until they step onto the field.

It means the Jests are a much easier punching bag now. More profitable too.

I love our picks, but I love our opponents picks more. EJ and Geno? Are you kidding me? Only bad thing is both teams should be bad enough to draft real QB's soon.

Id bet my life that neither of them is starting the NFL in 4 years. Unless the Jets pull another Sanchez and won't let go. Neither has any skills that translate to the NFL.

I'm not going to forecast either's success. If I could forecast the success of a QB, I'd likely not have to be in IT anymore. I'm a fan of EJ and I like Geno too. I hope they have productive careers and I think EJ can do that. I just hope that we eviscerate them each time we play them. Not going to write them off though. Anything can happen with the proper motivation, of which, both players have.

I'd say a pretty big probability that neither pans out and both franchises get stuck in purgatory for a few more years

They totally ****ed themselves. Irish on the other hand ate a losing season with Henne and got his guy the next year. Jets and Bills would've been wise to do the same.

Iv'e been an FSU fan for 20+ years and IMO EJ has a slim chance b/c of pure size and athleticism. If they coach him up and give him some weapons he might OK in a few years. But he struggled to read coverage and go thru progressions even in college when he typically had a huge talent advantage so I'm not holding my breath on him.

Geno is the better QB IMO but has no chance whatsoever w/ the team he's going to.

Against us in particular, if Dion pans out, they're going to have a hard time throwing from a horizontal position.

I'm not even sure Geno is the better QB. I honestly don't think he is smart enough. I'm REALLY underwhelmed with the way he speaks, his lack of maturity has been evident this week, and I'm not sure he can learn/run an NFL offense. Geno is athletic but he is NOT a runner in the NFL so he can't keep defenses in check with that threat.

He really has to become a prototypical passer and nothing Ive seen from him suggests he can do that.

EJ at least has that talent advantage, and while its lesser in the NFL he can at least present some matchup problems for a defense....though in most years I think both are mid rounders.

And he is tough .I remember when he was knocked out during the Gator game .A few plays later he shook off the cowwebs amd played better than he had before .Still I doubt he has the skills to be a franchise QB .

Well, the issue I have with the talking heads is that they look at whether the draft addressed all our needs, but I think their description of our needs is different than ours and that is different than our staff... All I've heard today is how bad Irish was because of two things...1) he didn't address the OL issues enough and 2) he didn't take a WR after getting rid of Bess. (seems as tho many here had love affairs with Ryan Swope).

It's true they didn't address the OL as diligently as "I" seem to think they should have, but he's got some inside info on a few guys we have on the roster that I don't (Yeatman, JJ, Garner, etc). All I can go on is what we've seen of those guys so far, which isn't much. Is one ready to perform now?? Don't know, but assume they think they know... Additionally, there are still some options in FA with guys like Winston, McKinnie, and possibly Monroe...

As to reciever, I think they've addressed that issue quite effectively....Wallace, Hartline, Gibson, Binns, Matthews, Fuller seems a lot better to me than Hartline, Bess, Binns, Matthews, Fuller and Nanee/CJ85... And Keller, Clay, Sims make a significantly better option than Fasano, Egnew, Clay. How many times will we use more than 3 wide?? Add in what Miller and Gillislie might bring to the passing game and this team has improved it's receiver/playmakers quite a bit over last season...

I only speak for myself but it has been a long time since I felt this good about the team, that truly top to bottom, owner through players, the team was on the same page, with one vision, not one person in charge with a bunch of people playing yes men. Ireland actually found a pair and has been his own man, seems IMO to have grown out away from parcells. I love Philbin, quiet confidence. My favorite president of all time was Teddy Roosevelt, he practiced what he preached, I love this quote Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far. Philbin is tough, fair, committed, steadfast but doesnt have to be loud and obtuse. He knows how to deal with people and realizes differences exist. From top to bottom it appears finally to be a cohesive organization.

Both have potential...how they are handled is the thing...I think that EJ has a better shot of success in Barfalo than Geno in NY....they seem to have taken over the "Most Dysfunctional FO and Staff Award" from us... Color me shocked if either one has the impact of RG3, Wilson or Newton tho this year...

That said, and back OT....I like what Irish has done so far...I hope he doesn't treat the OT position like he did WR position last offseason...time to make a move to at least shore up one side or the other and move on...

So often we hear about the adage of drafting the best player available. yet when the draft is over, the grades are handed out based on needs filled. can't have it both ways.. or can you? I think in this draft, we covered both bases the majority of the time. That's a solid draft.

Very happy with this year's draft as well. Not so much because I think EVERY pick will pan out, I just feel it was solid and they didn't screw the pooch. I watched a trio of experts on ESPN last night pick the Ravens, Niners and some other non-Dolphin team as their top 3, and another said he thought Minnesota had the best draft. Goes to show there's no perfect formula and nobody will 100% agree...even the ones getting highly paid to formulate that opinion.

i kind of hope the national guys forget about the Dolphins...they need to prove they're worth the national hype...I think it started last year and I expect big strides this year.

I know you'll never agree, but had Philbin & Sherman not been here last year, we'd still be trying with a Henne/Moore combo. Tannehill is not and never will be Ireland's QB of choice. I think last off-season proved it, with his refusal to go get any skill position talent. He truly believed that last season he had given his QB enough talent to win.

It took a season with a QB with upside in a WCO style to convince him to listen to Philbin & Sherman on what he needed.

I still think Ireland needs to go, and we need to hire a WCO oriented GM.

How could one not like our draft? With a big assist from the Oakland Raiders, Jeff Ireland set the market for the price to move up in the first round. It's a price that amounts to peanuts.

If that's Purgatory then Miami must have been in Hell .

I am not seeing where anyone else is calling us winners so that begs the question where is the big home run knock it out of the ball park move at ?

If I put myself in the media 's shoes I would say Ireland hit a singe to first base and that is it. Now if I look at the filling the holes I would say maybe Jeff hit it to second base .

I liked this draft, I think we picked up at least 7 players who make the 53. 7/9 who make the final roster is a pretty good draft IMO, if that is indeed the case.
Dion Jordan, Jamar Taylor and Dallas Thomas are gimmes to make the team and contribute right from the start... Sims, Gillislee and Sturgis will most likely make the team, with Sturgis taking the starting role from Carpenter and the other two having some playing time their first year. Jenkins has a strong possibility to make the final cut if he can do well in special teams. The only two I'm not sold on yet are Will Davis and Don Jones, but based on our current CB situation, I think both have strong chances to make the team as well.

So, essentially, we might have a draft where all 9 picks make the final 53, with three potential starters (Sturgis, Taylor and Thomas), three key contributors (Jordan, Sims, Gillislee) and three special teams contributors and depth/situational players (Davis, Jenkins and Jones).

All of this coupled with the probability that Dion Jordan might be a huge playmaker for us in the future, makes me think that this has all the makings of a great draft.
