Hopefully we sign him and keep Martin on the right side for at least one more year until he proves he can actually play at this level.

We'll see, I know he's in excellent condition and has a chip, I also know he wants to get paid..

He will be 34 years old come the beginning of the season.

Positives...he protected the MVP in the Super Bowl and his blind side, and he's from the U baby.

I think if the Dolphins signed McKinnie to a reasonable two year deal it might just inspire John Abraham to sign as well.

I would be in 7th heaven.

I hate starting rookies. I'm all for giving the top picks some playing time, but most really good teams aren't starting their rookies.

Dion Jordan doesn't need the load dumped on him as a rookie, especially after dealing with a pretty serious injury, and trying to start Dallas might be worse than starting Martin last year, and starting first year corners hardly ever results in anything more than mediocrity.

Let Odrick rotate as a 3-technique or 5-technique in a hybrid.

I hated most of the off-season but there is still hope.

I rather sign Winston, but Mt Mckinnie is the safer option at LT.

I'd sign Bryant system fit or not he is still a high end pass protector so if we lose a little in the run game so what.

Whats point of getting all these young pass rushers to put them behind a vet on a 1 or 2 year deal? Let them play and earn spot.

Yep, he's not really an elite type Tackle, more servicable, personally I'd prefer Winston on a 2 yr deal

Winston would, this is why I prefer him, also think he'd be more then a short term, 1 yr solution, at tackle.

I like JJ more than most though, and Martin, imo I'd like to see those two play Tackle, but I also have no patience for a learning curve this year..they have to get it right..period.

Thing is, when Kraken was destroying Bryan Bulaga no one had reason to think he'd develop into a good Tackle, yet he did.

Personally Bryant would be a safety net move to step in if it becomes clear the youngster can't handle it...that's all I wouldn't pencil him in a the starter.

You hated most of the off-season? Ireland filled our weakest position need in this off-season (WR), replaced our LB's with younger, faster versions of themselves, drafted a guy to relieve pressure from Wake, and picked up a pretty good CB in FA from Atlanta and one in the draft too.

I would say this is one of the better off-seasons we have had around here in a very long time.

wow, just when you think you've seen it all....

    - rookies should not get serious playing time
    - good teams don't start rookies
    - starting corners in their first year hardly ever show anything
    - the offseason was miserable

Winston is a RT, McKinnie is a LT. The Dolphins have a large need at the LT position at this time because Martin just isn't ready to be a full time LT in the NFL and I don't know if he ever will be. So since the need is LT, I prefer they sign McKinnie.

Albert will be a free agent after the 2013 season. The Dolphins had already worked out a deal with him but they couldn't come to terms with the Chiefs on compensation for Albert.

So the Dolphins should just sign McKinnie for the 2013 season and they can always sign Albert in free agency in 2014 and not have to give the Chiefs any type of compensation. This is the best of both worlds.

Two words to completely counter your statement on starting rookies....Mike Pouncey...

Martin is going to be one of our tackles, Irish and staff have pretty much made that clear. Whether that is the right or left side depends on who they sign... I don't know where the Winston situation is right now, but he's the better option for us from a scheme perception and ability perception... Winston is right now a better RT than McKinnie is a LT (keep in mind I did say 'right now'). Martin actually played better at LT than RT last year. Was that because they schemed around his deficiencies as a LT, I don't know but I think they want to see what Martin can do with a full season behind him and his second offseason. There are reports that he's bigger than he was last year, that's good. I don't think we can sell him too short for last year, where he was first asked to play a position he hadn't in college and then switch back in mid year...

I doubt they sign both guys unless one is really, really, like vet minimum cheap, which is doubtful....

If they sign McKinnie, that really kind of holds Martin back. Aside from that, IF Thomas does better than we expect in his first year or if Lance can't come back as soon as we expect, they have some options...the problem with our entire OL is that other than Pouncey, we could see any number of combinations of starters... We have the OTAs, minicamps, and TC to find out about JJ, Lance, Icognito (left side, right side?, cut), Martin, and whoever they bring in (McKinnie, Winston, Monroe, Clabo)...

Well look at this way, we have a couple of key FA's coming up as well, Starks, Soliai, Jones, spring to mind, it would be better if we developed our own T's and saved $$$ to sign them
