Anybody know what Mike Wallace tweeted about Collins coming out? Apparently he deleted them but I would like to see what he said out of curiosity.
I like this one from @FakePatRiley better: All this Miami Heat in the world and some of yall into them other teams....I aint against nobody....I just dont understand it.
"I'm not bashing anybody don't have anything against anyone I just don't understand it," Wallace tweeted Monday. "All these beautiful women in the world and guys wanna mess with other guys SMH..." Predictably, the tweet quickly was deleted. Wallace then went into damage control. UPDATE: The Dolphins released a statement regarding Wallace's tweet: "Mike Wallace has apologized for his comments, and we have addressed the matter with him. Mike's comments do not reflect the views of the Miami Dolphins. We believe in a culture of inclusiveness and respect, and any statements to the contrary are in no way acceptable to our organization. We will address the entire team about our policy of inclusion and make sure they all understand the importance of respecting individual choices." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap10...allace-reacts-then-backtracks-to-collins-news
No. I dont think he leaves LAL. Few players ever do if theyre good. And IF he does imo its Dallas or ATL. Dallas because they can easily make more cap space and ATL cause he and Josh Smith know each other both being from ATL.
Yep, then again, it's the NBA, ego's illegitimate children, dope smoking etc etc is all par for the course. Do like the playoffs tho.
Also, please keep the thread on topic. The thread is about basketball not the sexuality of another player. Thats why the other threads were moved.
Considering it is... a NBA player that came out... I think it's fine to discuss in a NBA discussion thread. But hey, why be logical?
Considering gay rights is a political movement and gays in sports is more of a social dogma then it is basketball related, no, your argument is not logical and its not a discussion.
I admit that I came to the NBA thread to see what people were saying about the NBA player that came out. Apparently a discussion happened but it got moved. I have no idea where it got moved to. I imagine wherever it went the discussion just died.
I'm not going to waste my time arguing with you then. I know exactly how this will carry out anyways.
Anybody have any thoughts on the Seattle/Sacramento brouhaha? I've been following it a bit the last few weeks and it actually is very interesting. Stern pretty much kept Sacramento in the game until they could get their stuff together, which is nice for Sacramento but not really fair to Seattle. I also question whether the league chose sentimentality (for whatever reason) over a clearly wealthier, more stable market. I only care about that to the extent that Sacramento is likely to be a revenue sharing recipient rather than payee, unlike Seattle, which means that much less that Arison has to spend on the Heat. The more league revenue, the better for the Heat.
Sooo imagine If this site were around when OJ Simpson was on trial for murder, would it make sense to flood the AFC East Rivals forum? Or is it a much bigger issue than that? Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
I say move the Clippers to Seattle. Solves multiple problems; Seattle gets an NBA franchise, the Clippers move out of the Lakers' shadow, Sacramento keeps its team, everyone is happy.
I don't think it'd be a problem to discuss it there. It's not like we have new material pouring in for that sub-forum anyways. If you're going to make a thread with a very broad topic, then you should be prepared to deal with **** like this. This isn't the NBA Playoffs thread, it's the NBA thread. Anything NBA related should be able to be discussed here. Just because it intertwines with other topics doesn't change that IMO. The whole Jason Collins thing would likely be discussed for a week then the world would move on. This just my opinion though, it's not the first time you would be opposing that either.
As far as the Seattle/Sacramento thing I'm glad they're keeping the team in Sacramento. Seattle deserves a team but they'll just get the next expansion team whenever that is.
A discussion about gay rights or gays in sports is not NBA related. Its a political topic that influences society much more then sports. There will be a few homophobes who will complain about sharing a locker room with said player and stuff like that but that's as far as the influence goes as far as it being NBA related. You can start a thread in the politics forum.
So many threads discussing a wide range of topics, and people wanna discuss everything in the NBA Season thread. That includes the poker people. Don't understand what's so hard about starting a thread in the pofo... Smh.
A discussion about the impact of a NBA player officially coming out is NBA related... especially when said event just happened. Are we allowed to speculate whether an NBA team would add Collins to their roster after coming out? Or is that against the rules?
Yeah but do you think Kobe would open with a raise on pocket 8's in first position at a full table that has been semi passive????!!!!
Really? How is a players sexuality NBA related? Just because he plays in that league that doesn't make it NBA related just like its not NFL related to discuss a murder trial if ray lewis or oj Simpson were accused. Its a societal/news discussion. It has 100% nothing to do with basketball. Admins felt this was the proper route and I did as well. Back to regularly scheduled programming.
NBA.com doesnt have a pofo section. Plus they don't have to worry about peoples comments. Unfortunately, the first one just had a hell of a lot of stupidity.
It's a disgusting episode. Seattle is gonna steal a team...just a matter of time. Just not this year. it's rich people (Ballmer) bullying a small market into destroying itself economically. meanwhile..everybody forgot that those *******s in Seattle had a profitable franchise with a huge fanbase and a large market, yet refused to build a arena.
Kobe is the type to open in 1st pos. with 53 offsuit..and then represent on every street firing away and stacking off to the guy that flopped quads.
so what do y'all think about Jason Collins coming out? His play had kind of fallen off anyway, would it really make an impact?
Actually, Kevin Johnson and the league are getting Sacramento to destroy itself economically. Any mayor not named "KJ" would have said "eff it" long ago. Sacramento has refused to build an arena for more than a decade before now. The real problem for the league is that the Seattle deal is actually bordering on too fair. It has a reasonable mix of public and private funds (to the extent any such split is reasonable which I dont believe). There are lots of people to blame for the Sonics leaving originally but Stern, Bennett and Howard Schultz rank way ahead of the politicians. Now I admit, much of information comes from Sonicsgate which is obviously a pro-Sonics view of things, but much of it is not disputed. The real problem is that as long as these owners are continued to allow to suckle at the public teat, small markets in every sport will be subject to this kind of blackmail.
I think that a basketball locker room being smaller made it the most likely sport to have the first male gay athlete come out and be accepted. But the times have changed so much that he would probably be accepted in any of the big three sports.
Can't get on board. You make Kobe sound like one of the worst players st the table. When he actually is one of the best, especially against "passive opponents. Melo calls, calls the reraise from the button guy (who read a poker book) flops a set calls his C-bet reppops turn then felts him. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
weak. Lebron smooth calls the turn..then checks the nuts on the river as his opponent gladly stacks off to him.
Lebron wouldn't put that kind of pressure on himself, calling a raise out of position. He would be biting his nails like always and decide the best play is too fold.
