I mean, I know we were around top 5 last season, but we switched out Dansby and Burnett for younger linebackers and essentially replaced Bess/Fasano with Wallace/Keller, who are both younger.

We have 2 guys on our roster right now 30 or over. TWO. And one of them is the long snapper. The other is Cam Wake.

    Exciting times in Miami!

It is if they can play, and we start winning, that's for sure.

heading into free agency we had the 6h youngest team in the NFL with an average age of 25.62 years old. St.Louis Rams were the youngest team at that time with an average age of 25.4 years old.

Team with the oldest roster in the NFL heading into free agency was the Chargers averaging 26.86 years old. The entire NFL has gotten younger in the last 3 years.

Wow those are not big differences at all. Never would have thought the Chargers were the oldest team.

Wow, that's crazy. Your saying the difference between the youngest and oldest teams is 1.4 years? Seems like a moot point if so.

Like I said, that was heading into free agency in 2013. The average age difference, from youngest team to oldest team has not moved from a little more then 2 years difference in quite a long time. When final rosters are made up thats when you get a clearer picture but still, the difference between youngest and oldest is not going to be much greater on average then 2 years. The new rookie wage scale was supposed to help vets but they were sold a bunch of crap and the teams are grabbing the younger cheaper guys.

Yep, thats what I am saying but also as I said, that was heading into free agency. Once the rosters are made up it will show who the oldest and youngest is for this season but the overall difference from first to last is not going to change much.

There should be a ranking on age of STARTERS.

Cause the steelers, with big ben, polomalu, ike taylor, ryan clark, brett keisel, larry foote, heath miller, jerricho cothery, all over 30, are pretty damn old.

of their 22 starters, 8 of them are over 30. Which is 36%.

of our 22 starters, 1 of them is over 30. (5%)

I guess there are so many players on a roster that in the end, the difference is barely worth recognizing.

    Thanks for the info, momma.

We went into free agency as the sixth youngest, we swapped two thirty year olds for Ellerbe and wheeler who are not, add our draft picks where 6 or 7 should make the team, were gonna be the youngest I would imagine..

I really like that..we might be young, but we are fast.....kinda like our new dolphin.

Based on the current roster listed on the Dolphins official web site our current average player age is 25.15

I had to look up the DOB for Don Jones(23 in two weeks) & Jamar Taylor(22) because they haven't been updated yet.

Poor Cam Wake ... he is one of our "grizzled" veterans at 31 :D

I think we also have to wait until we've made the fall cuts before seeing which team is the youngest now. If the unthinkable were to happen and they cut every single draft choice, that would bump up the average age a good bit. I'm just happy to be excited about Dolphins football for the first time in about a decade. It feels like this team is finally moving forward.

Yep, thats all that really matters. Right now everyones roster is full at around 90 players including draftees and UDFAs all the team have signed for , hate to say it, camp bodies. When Sept comes I am going to guess the Rams are going to have the youngest roster with us not too far behind.

In regards to Cam Wake, LOL, no problem. The dude is cut and fit as a 25 year old. Incognito is 29 and again, fit as a 25 year old so those being our two oldest guys ( with exception of our long snapper) we are in great shape. These days, barring injury, players can go into their early 30s and still be very good players if they take care of themselves. This is what ruined Vernon. If some remember I put up, many times, VERNON CAREY HAS LEFT THE BUILDING, there was good reason for that and most of it had to do with his off season regiment of doing basically nothing and eating anything that was in arms length and not giving two Sh&*ts about it. Kid could have played another 5 years, and no, his knee issues were not the real thing holding him back. It was his brain cells. Vernon Carey has not seen a casino he does not like.

That is really an excellent idea. Personally I do not have the time to figure it out but it really is a good idea. For someone with the time and interest and if they really made a good spread sheet on it, I am willing to bet one of the better sites would take it and put it up. For the most part though ? they add the whole enchalada together and divide by the number on the roster. Good idea though, Thank You.

I am an old timer but I love the new Dolphin. I am about as old as dirt and the way I figure it anything they do to make me feel up to par or up to times ? I welcome it. Like I said, Change is constant, accept it or be left sitting on the side of the road.
