So, as a result of winning Employee of the Month in 2011, I'm getting ready to go on an all-expenses-paid trip to Boston. Activities include walking the Freedom Trail, eating at Union Oyster House, the oldest restaurant in the U.S., and taking in a game at historic Fenway Park. But wait, it gets better. Because flying is kind of a PITA for me, I asked if I could drive and meet the other employees in the group there. The company said sure, and we'll give you the cost of your airline tickets toward your mileage. So bookending this magnificent four-day vacation in Boston will be visits to: the Pro Football Hall of Fame; Niagara Falls; Cleveland's theater district; and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Pretty sweet, eh? Any suggestions for can't-miss attractions along the way?
Wish I had some recommendations Estevan, but I don't know the area. I would like pictures when you return please.... Have fun man. I prefer to drive anywhere anymore. Getting there and back is half the adventure.
Sounds like a blast! I always thought the white horse tavern in Rhode Island was the oldest restaurant?
Beantown is fun dude. Have a blast If you're into italian food you can check out the North End. Fanuiel Hall is a good touristy area, which is actually along the freedom trail. If you're into beer you can do a Sam Adams or Harpoon brewery tour. Stay away from Duck Tours. Sounds fun til you have a boat full of kids with duck calls quacking for 2 hours. Boston common is nice to visit, again along the freedom trail.
Cooperstown if you are a baseball fan and haven't been there before. Finger Lakes region in NY has vineyards and wine tasting tours. Not sure if you are going through the upstate region, but if so, those are some nice spots.
Mystic Seaport is 5 minutes from I-95 about 1/2 way through Connecticut. If you're into nautical stuff it's a must see.
I wondered if anyone was going to catch that. I'm actually locked into a Duck Tour: company group activity, Is that on the Mystic River? I'm pretty sure we cross the Tappan Zee.
Sounds like a blast Doc. I gotta get up to Boston someday. I hear so many good things, yet I've never been. Enjoy yourself.
Union Oyster House is the oldest in Boston.... WHT is the oldest in the Country.... Been to both they both suck...you want good food, go to Federal Hill.... or Astro go to the docks here and grab oysters for a 1/3 of what they charge in the restaurant and shuck them bittys right there...
