Not sure which element of popular culture provided you with this bit of pablum, but you've worn it into the ground. Consider advancing into more complaints about political correctness, or maybe even allege that white males are the last group it is acceptable to discriminate about.
RG3s PC comment was stupid. No one is censoring guys like Mike Wallace. They are simply heaping much deserved crap on him for looking like an idiot. Free speech all around right? For all the people making fun of him, there are also insensitive bigots supporting and agreeing with him. So don't Feel too bad, That is all of their rights. Just like its my right to call them insensitive bigots. But lets be honest, political correctness is not a liberty killing plague. It's simply a broader public term for being a rude, offensive d-bag. You know, like the fat, obnoxious loud mouth woman who proudly puffs her chest out every time she belches out "I always speak my mind." Yeah, that's called being an *******. My mind speaks that you look right at home at the Walmart McDonalds. But to spare your feelings and subsequent 50 nugget depression gorge, I'll keep that one to myself. Change the Redskins. Make them the DC Crackheads, Lobbyists, Crabcakes...whatever. The tradition of a team in a game shouldn't outweigh the people's tradition it insults. Snyder may catch crap locally, but it'd be considered a noble move overall.
It's a racist team name. The fact that it's been their team name for a long time doesn't make it OK. It's not even a cool name anyway.
Found out today that the owner of the redskins in the 60s was a racist and did not want any black players in his team, that's why he traded the pick with the Browns I'm 52 with the Browns, who drafted Ernie Davis Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Words have no definite meaning, a word only has power if you allow it to. Words are bascally like buckets that carry agreed upon meaning. The word Redskin itself is not racist, our perception of the word is.
Good Lord, dude. You just made me see the problem where I didn't before. The only comment I had is that not all Hispanics are Mexicans and not all Native Americans are "redskins," but that further proves your point (although nobody objects to "Fighting Irish"). How about "Washington Braves?" That was the team's nickname until the early 30's. They changed it to "Redskins" to go with "Red Sox" before they moved from Boston to Washington. It would be a return to the old nickname, would preserve the idea of Native American warriors fighting on the gridiron, would get rid of the racial slur, and has been used in baseball for a long time in addition to being the team's former name. It's all in whether the name is pejorative or admiration for fighting spirit. I don't think the Seminole Tribe has a problem with Florida State's teams calling themselves the Seminoles, for example.
I don't think teams in general should be named after ethnic groups. Even more so if there is a rather checkered history between the dominant group in the area, and there is opposition to it from that group. If there's no opposition(like you mentioned with the Fighting Irish), I don't really see the issue.
Big difference: Grass actually is green. Native American skin is more of a brown color than red... Just like African-American skin isn't actually black and Asians don't actually have yellow skin. It's an over-exaggeration of a difference based on skin color.
I'd ask the Grass that question. Now, if it answers you I definitively say that you're bat **** crazy............but let's not get ahead of ourselves.
Spoken like a person who has never experienced bias or racism aimed at them. Would Jews be just big babies if Germans had a rugby team called the Berlin Big Nose Jews? Is that just being insecure? Your male, lily white *** has literally no business telling people what should or shouldn't offend them when it comes to race or religion. The day you understand what its like to be part of a group that has been murdered, enslaved, discriminated against is the day you have the right to judge something like this. I swear to god, this board loses their **** when ESPN appears to slight the Dolphins, but people are just being sensitive little babies when their entire race is mocked by a sports franchise....sigh......
Exactly. People do get their feathers ruffled over the stupidest ****. Like getting upset over changing a name of a football team from a name that is insanely racist to one that is not. It is just a name of a football team.
Look, jokes are one thing. This is entirely something different. This is a constant reminder that Native Americans have been and still are considered second class citizens and defined not by their historical or cultural importance but how they differ from the white protestants who raped, pillaged and murdered them into submission. You can't possibly relate to that because you've no idea what that must feel like. Say you cheated on the love of your life. let's say she found out and you were truly remorseful and she took you back. Would you run around wearing a shirt with a picture of her crying over your infidelity, with a slogan that said, "with a face like this no wonder she was cheated on"? Forget the Native American's stance for a second....weren't they screwed over so badly by us, that it would be the stand up thing to do, to not mock them with something as stupid as a football mascot?
Do you have any idea how much of a racist you're being right now? In fact, "calling it like you see it" is the very nature of racism. You act like every Native American owns a casino. Which is ridiculous. 1 in 4 Native American lives below the poverty line. In many reservations there's up to 69% unemployment. A lot of the reasons for this goes back to the past and how they were treated. Not too mention how they are treated today, by people like yourself or even because they aren't taken seriously in part because of the national view of them portrayed by the Redskins or Chief Wahoo. And you've further enforced my point that you've no idea what its like for people to be bigoted against you, when you think your skinny jeans fiasco is comparable to the plight of Native Americans, Jews, African Americans, women, gay, Latinos, etc. in this country.
I'm not mad....I'm bewildered. I'm bewildered as to why you are soo upset that people are offended by a racist mascot, that you feel the need to antagonize and troll this topic like you have a personal vendetta against me. I ask again, (and it would be refreshing for you to sack up and have a thoughtful discussion instead of resorting to this kind of...whatever the hell you call what you're doing....) why are you happy that people are offended? What personal stake do you have in the fact people are offended? What is missing in your actual life that you get off on this sort of thing?
Why are you so mad what me and others think just because it's not what you think? I admit it I even laugh at black jokes guess I'm going to hell Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
You are mad look at all the attacking you did to Aqua, you are emotionally caught up on this issue just admit it and try and move on Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Ok, well if we are going to just make stuff up and repeat it over and over and over while avoiding what the other person is saying...then there's no point in trying to engage you in an actual conversation, because you've proven, you are flat out incapable. You literally lack the ability.
You're equating skinny jeans to slavery and slaughter. If you cried and whined like a little ***** about skinny jeans, I could only imagine what it would feel like knowing that a few hundred years ago you would have been enslaved simply because of your complexion. You've done a great job illustrating how little perspective you have.
Because I don't care if someone else is offended, I have my own life to live. Did you go bananas when the movie White Men Can't Jump was released?? It's only words and have zero bearing on everyday life.
