No. Not a chance. I root for the teams where I have ties to the area. I like to actually see the games on local tv, or even attend them. ( season tix holder ) I have zero interest in a team out in Texas or los angeles.
There is no way of knowing where, what and how the change would be made. Where ever the team would be moved would help to decide if the name would be changed along with the new city. It would be hard to accept a new team name along with the new city and still be able to hold on to the tradition that is the Miami Dolphins. The Ring of Honor would be hard to recognize under a new team name and a new city. I can still remember the contest that was held in South Florida to name the Miami NFL team the Dolphins. Lets just hope we never have to have a serious conversation on this subject because that would be a sad day.
No !!! I became a Dolphin fan with the Baltimore Colt's fiasco & followed Shula to Miami, absolutely would change to another Florida team or follow the Baltimore Ravens... very, very ugly to even contemplate a betrayal at this level. it is traumatic.
What if the team moved somewhere else in Florida? Places like Orlando have to be rather appealing to both Ross and the NFL on some level. Can you imagine how much ESPN would fawn all over a team in Orlando, right in Disney (ie ESPN's) back yard? The NFL would absolutely love to have a brand new, state of the art stadium in Orlando to host Super Bowls.
if the fanbase doesn't get behind this team, and they continue to show their *** and stay home, ideas like that are notso far fetched, and easier to root for.
No chance. Orlando couldn't build a new stadium without the help of the state. The state would never subsidize the Dolphins moving within the state.
Cleveland is a small market. Miami is not. I'd hate to dissappint you with the fact that its not happening.
Cause you said so? Clev smaller city but longrr history. Not that much smaller either it isnt like NY to Mil diff in size. You can say it wont happen all you want but if the team is sold, all bets r off
Here, you can take a look at the two markets: http://www.forbes.com/teams/miami-dolphins/ http://www.forbes.com/teams/cleveland-browns/ Virtually no difference in their valuation of the market. The difference between Cleveland and Miami right now is Miami has a lot more debt.
The same place they get the hundreds of millions that go into economic and infrastructure development for businesses and real estate in Miami-Dade. As the Mayor has said before, this happens with many businesses regularly, its just that the Dolphins are higher-profile, so they get all the attention.
