I was talking to one of the ladies that work at sun life and she said that we never won with the old logo, so she dosnt understand what the hate is about. It's been a bad 16 years with that logo. We saw Marino last game which he got killed. Only played two seasons I'm that logo. 1-15. Wansted (sp) Ricky Williams quit on us, cam Cameron, long list of ****ty qbs, and so much pain. Fresh start

The hate doesn't stem from change in general. The hate stem from a poor logo design and bland uniforms, IMO. Hopefully it's a quick and prosperous five years and we dump these uniforms and logo. Let Nike designers run the next uniform change.

The logo has nothing whatsoever to do with onfield performance. That a generally bad run of 16 or so years coincided with the previous logo is coincidence. Nothing more.

 

I'm not saying it does. I'm saying that there was no good history with that logo

I hated the new logo at first. The more I see it, the more I like it. I absolutely love the clean look of the new unis and it looks like the majority of fans feel the same way. I may be wrong, but I don't think we will dump this look for a long time.

 

Well the person who designed that logo also claimed he was not happy with how it came out, he had very little time and didn't put much effort to it.

So Huizhenga pretty much accepted a half assed designed logo, which pretty much described the past several years of our team. No effort and half assed, bandaided.

Check out that background when the audio is playing...black with those colors is so nice, wonder why they keep showing that black with the logo all by itself, it looks cool as sh$)..that's the merchandise colors I would wear.

Yeah, I only caught the tail end of the convo and thought someone was saying that this new logo had been in the works before Ross came along... My bad...

 

Is that true? Dear god, if so, what happened to Nike? Some random dude on the internet put together a better for free.

Nike is so creative, I have to believe that's false.

 

I think it's great. Better than anything we've seen.

 

They did a great job. Best Logo/Uniform combo to date. IMHO

 

Well there are LOTS of people that do think our original logo design is MUCH better and it's very possible for them to think so.
Hopefully we'll ditch this awful design after the 5 year period is up.

 

Not likely. Makes no sense to ditch it. Not as much negativity as people think

 

Busy and/or flashy doesn't necessarily equal creative. IMO a lot of Nike designs suffer from trying to do too much.

 

I've heard almost exclusively negative things at this point from every non dolphin fan. And the fan base who hate it are easily in the majority. not sure what you mean when you say "not much negativity." 5 years from now, we'll have a new logo and uniform. Watch.

 

Every non-Dolphin fan I've spoken to says its the best Dolphins logo ever.

 

I have spoken with a lot of people who hated it and now saying its growing on them.I have been to Fin Fest and talked to a lot of people about the logo, and more people loved it then hated it. Change is going to bring negativity. Its human nature, but the amount of positivity is better then expected. I guarantee you that this logo will be the Miami Dolphins logo for the next 10 years. People hated the Broncos change when they change theirs, and now they love their current logo.

People have the right to hate it, but at the end of the day, the logo is here to stay.

 

As has been explained many times in this thread and others over the years, virtually every team logo change is met with a majority of negativity and that changes in time.

In fact, if you want to bet on a change in 5 years, then bet on the fact there will be as much gnashing of teeth about the next logo as there was with this one.

 

^^^ This. I absolutely HATED the new logo when it was first released. I couldn't believe they were destroying Miami's look like that. It made me sick and angry. Now I take time to look at the new logo beside the previous logo and can't figure out why I thought the old logo was better. Not only is the new logo growing on me, it is absolutely awesome in my opinion.

If there really is so much negativity about the logo, why is the merchandise flying off the shelves so quick? This logo is here for a long time to come and by the end of the first season I would imagine that the vast majority of people will think it's one of the best looks in football.

 

Can you imagine how pissed people would be if they bought all new jerseys and new merchandise with the new logo, only for it to be changed back in 5 years. Atleast you can wear the old logo, and its throw back. If the Dolphins change back, I will name my first kid Mark Sanchez.

 

Now I'm torn. As much as I dislike our old logos, I also kinda want you to have to name your kid Mark Sanchez just for schadenfreude.

 

Good point. I am also suspecting that merchandise sales will confirm this change. The only merchandise worth buying over the last couple of years has been the retro looking stuff. I don't buy jerseys anymore after being burned by players that leave, but I love t shirts. Any shirt I had in the '97-2012 scheme has long been tossed in the garbage after they started releasing more retro, faded aqua, gray and orange apparel. It wouldn't surprise me at all if merchandise in the '97-2012 scheme was selling poorly with the alternate stuff selling much better

 

I had one Steelers fan say that the Fins logo was a classic in the NFL like the Packers and shouldn't be altered that much. That's fair. But when I reminded him that the logo has already been changed and that new color schemes are closer to the original, he softened a bit

 

if anything, frequent logo changes and uniform redesigns bring in more money. People have to adapt and buy the newest gear because their old stuff is out of fashion. I wouldn't be worried about five years from now and resentment/anger.

JT, what are the rules regarding uniform alterations? Not whole sale changes but color schemes and details (like trim)? Any idea?

 

I think any change to the teams uniform must wait 5 years, I think colors schemes are included but I am not positive. I am trying to find any info on it in the NFL rulebook online but can't find anything

It's the first time I could really see it and see the colors, the symmetry, it looked real good with the stripes, the stripe is everything..very cool..their gonna make a lot of money on this stuff.

 

From what I understand, any major design change must wait 5 years. Minor alterations can be done before that. For colors, it would probably depend on the magnitude of the alteration.

 

Look how much ORANGE on this Dion Jordan jersey! So much better!
