Seems to me the minimal risks that Ross included in the deal would counter any backlash that Ross is not trying to help the city as much as himself?

Astounding how people can still say "what happens if the tax doesn't raise enough money?" as some type of insinuation that the county will end up paying more than they've agreed to.

Why do your family and friends say they hate Miami? What is there reasoning? I've lived in south Florida, central Florida, and on the west coast. And I've never heard of a hatred for Miami within the state.

I think a lot has to do with the job market and the environment in the suburbs. It's getting pretty dirty over here in Kendall, thinking about moving to Doral soon. Kendall isn't what it used to be 2 decades ago. Especially at my area there's been an increase of delinquent kids that like to vandalize everything and crime has been going up.

I had a friend that came from Fort Myers and regrets coming here. lol

But as for me personally I have always thought about moving out of state, was never much of a big city/crowd type. but the past year I have had a different view of it and the opportunities Miami presents business wise is too much to pass up.

I hate Miami, and my family does too.

It's a cesspool, third world country. You can go days without ever hearing a single person speak english. The city is filled with poverty and crime. South Beach is vastly overrated, the beach is usually dirty and full of seaweed that itches the skin. There are TONS of much more beautiful, cleaner, no seaweed beaches around the state of Florida.

Miami has routinely been voted as the worst city in the USA in regards to road rage and violence among drivers/traffic accidents.

You don't feel like you are in America, but really, a completely different hispanic country.

I will move as soon as possible. I only live here due to my family moving here when I was little....

Some of the best places on earth don't have many English speakers.

There are certainly a lot of economic problems down in South Florida. Businesses are hurting. That's why they supported the stadium plan.

Do you equate making money with being intelligent?

Because the two don't correlate. That passionate, intelligent guy who loves working with kids, decides to go to college and spend his life being a teacher. He makes 40k a year for the rest of his life. Raises a family. Never rich.

The other guy goes into business, ****s people over, abuses government subsidies, evades tax brackets and laws by using clever accountants or even things like sending their money to the Caymans, does all sorts of morally questionable things as he spends his life pursuing the All Mighty Dollar.

One is rich, the other is not. But I would not say the rich guy is smarter than the other guy

Are those places in USA? Because I would expect to be speaking english when I am in the USA. If I were to travel to the best places on earth, I would totally expect no english and would be immersed in their culture. Not sure why you typed that comment.

    I wasn't saying no english = bad.
I was saying, No english in american city = bad.

But it's a travesty when I am in my own country and yet feel like I am in South America and not USA.

And you are entitled to your opinion, but this is not a discussion about morality.

    You're on another tangent altogether.

No, you don't get to brush it off. You brought it up..... you made a comment that correlated intelligence/money. If you have a problem with posters going "on another tangent altogether", then don't start it yourself.

And I started to answer to you when exactly?

I think you should get a grip sunshine.

I didn't start anything, I commented on what others have said regarding his inability to manage this as if he has no idea what he's doing. So to you that's me starting it? Hmmm. The moral question you are trying very hard to bring into this argument was first raised by you, no one else. If you wish to debate that then go ahead, but you'll have a hard time placing the burden of proof on me when I have stated nothing along those lines.

If you wish to advise me then I would suggest you make sure your own house is in order. I commented on their comments, its plain as day for anyone.

It isn't me liking your other tangent, maybe you should realize that you are in fact on one in more ways than one.

Please feel free to make this a moral discussion, but do so knowing that tangent has nothing to do with what I said, other than you quoting it.

Intelligence absolutely correlates with wealth. I venture to guess the majority of billionaires have above average IQs. The fact that some make their money immorally does not preclude them being intelligent.

I would just add that the morality of making wealth is a completely different subject than the intelligence used to acquire it.

I would imagine that it is in the same place as the study saying that the two don't correlate. As it would likely be on the same pieces of paper.

I will only make this last post in this thread, so it doesn't get detailed. If someone wants to discuss further, feel free to start a thread in the science forum. It's a pretty interesting topic IMO.

Zagorsky's research is probably the most conclusive:

It think it is more cultural sense. In our culture, we put rich people on a pedestal, so they have to be more intelligent.

They Zagorsky study said there was little correlation between IQ and wealth.

It is very easy to be very intelligent and lazy. Plus if you are dumb, however are movitvated and keep at it, you could make a great living in this country.

Seems as if someone has. I do find it interesting that you point out me being sarcastic when you attributed a quote about the internet to Abraham Lincoln. Really?

Also it isn't being sarcastic as the study in of itself would yield one of three options; there is a correlation, there isn't one and there is not enough evidence to support a conclusion. If the report says there is a correlation or there isn't, it would obviously refute the other position. You cannot have a correlation without disproving the notion that there is none, and vice versa.

So when I say it is likely contained in the same pages its not sarcastic; its true.

I also wonder why I need to provide support for my argument when you have never in fact provided evidence to support yours. It is a rather convenient argument to say I must provide it, when you apparently don't need to any proof for yours to be considered legitimate.

Nor have I coincidentally enough. I was asked if I believe there is a correlation between wealth and intelligence. I have said noting of the sort. Stringer has said that and has provided you some evidence. I on the other hand have not other that to say that electrolyte's argument was a moral one rather than the one at hand.

Or can you provide me with evidence that I have made a claim of any kind other than what I stated above? Which by the way has nothing to do with your request of proof from me?

I'd certainly love to see the evidence for your notion that I have made a claim or that I need to provide support for it.

Really blows my mind when Americans get upset about having to press 1 for English. Or that somehow English in America relates to...um, how do I say, economics
