I don't live in the area, so I have no miami ties, but I wouldn't mind having a different city to visit once a year for my trip to florida. Especially if it's a new stadium, sun life is definitely not that great, especially compared to the ravens stadium in baltimore

That's interesting. The South Florida megalopolis has shifted a little bit since Joe Robbie, I wonder if moving to a site in like South Palm Beach county wouldn't put them closer to the center mass of the tri-state region. Miami-Dade has a higher population than Broward and Palm Beach, but the growth rate of the latter two has been much higher I believe.

Depending on where the stadium would be built in Palm Beach County, it would add probably add about 2-3 hours of driving time to and from the game, since I live in the south end of Miami-Dade County. Since I would only be making this drive 8 times a year, plus any possible playoff games in the stadium, I really don't have a problem with a stadium being built in Palm Beach.

If the taxpayers of Palm Beach pay for the stadium, I doubt if they are going to want the Dolphins to keep the Miami part of their name. More then likely, they would have to be called the West Palm Dolphins or possibly even the South Florida Dolphins. I can live with that. I just want them to remain in South Florida somewhere. The first name of the team is irrelevant to me.

I floated the Idea of Orlando , The Palm beaches would be even better. Never thought I'd ever say this , but F YOU Miami. The Jets and the Giants moved to Jersey decades ago. Why not?

I'll be fine with that. As long as it's in South FLorida and we are the Miami Dolphins, I'm straight. No issues with driving over there for games.

That is possible, however it isn't the New Jersey Jets or it is not going to be the Santa Barbara 49ers

I don't care if they move to Fort Myers or the Keys, just get something done and keep them in South Florida.

Lol..keep sleeping on your dolphins Miami fanbase..better start to educate themselves on the worth of an NFL franchise in your town and how they play in a less than competitive venue, and if you wanna be a player in the game of events.

Lol..miami fan would have to drive two hours for the game..

Even with how much I think sunlife is a cancer for a football franchise, this would be a difficult move for me unless I knew they were intelligent enough to build it strictly with energy, noise and intimidation in the blueprint, the first of its kind.

I think we have to think about what's best for the team right lol?... I mean I think palm beach counties have an older demographic then the other counties, I don't think that's a good thing..

Go to the place that wants you the most, if Miami doesn't give a sh&$ anymore and isn't willing to take the time to understand the incredible deal that was on the table for their city and their team, then at some point, you simply don't deserve such an incredible entity.

Or better yet use the money to help with renovations and all of that, rather than build a new stadium in order to keep the team in South Florida as Miami fans would be in an uproar over the team leaving!

"Dee said other people heard Weatherford make the statements the Dolphins contend he said. And I found one of those people on Thursday.

"I was in the room with Mike Dee and Steve Ross and did hear what they heard," South Florida Super Bowl bid committee chairman Rodney Barreto said. "And yes, I'm disappointed. I'm disappointed that the people of Dade County were not given the opportunity to vote and that's a huge disappointment.

"This is a democratic process and [the legislators] were approving nothing more than allowing the people to vote. And I think that's lost in all this finger pointing, that we had an election going on and 40,000 people voted already and they should have had the opportunity to finish that vote."

Sources close to the discussions between the Dolphins and Weatherford say other people also heard Weatherford tell the Dolphins the bill would be heard. One of those persons, according to a source, is Turnberry Associates Principal Jeffrey Soffer.

Soffer, whose company owns portions of the Fountainbleau Hotel and Aventura Mall, was present when Weatherford and the Dolphins spoke on at least one occasion.

Messages left for Soffer at Turnberry Associates have not been returned.""

Dee and Ross might of been pissed off, but I don't think they have done anything since they took over that we shouldn't be able to trust them..

I support the movement to get these renovations done, and if the people of Miami have any common sense, you should support the owner and his vision, even if you can't see that far.

I'm willing to bet the majority of the season ticket base is located in Broweard and Palm Beach County. If you builf the stadium in North Broward or South Palm Beach it wouldn't affect attendance.

First, it doesn't take 2 hours to get from metro Miami and the suburbs to the Boca area (where I presume this would go), particularly on a Sunday morning. Second, you're only asking people to do it one day a week for 18 weeks. I drive from Oralndo to go to the games. If it's something you want to do, you figure out a way to do it.

This all kind of remains baseless speculation though if Palm Beach County has absolutely no inclination to pay for a new stadium.

interesting...just speculating, but is it wrong to say that Miami doesn't seem to be getting better in terms of pro football and it's usual demographics?, basically the more Latino influx the worse the situation gets? Just posing the question here?

It would seem that you would have even better attendance. The further south you go the less people speak English, or attend Dolphins games. Moving it further north makes it closer to the vast majority of Florida.

What are the chances Ross looks for someone to buy a percentage of the Dolphins to split the costs of renovations or a new stadium? Would that be a possibility?

It's obvious Ross does not want to throw down 900 million off his own pocket for renovations for Sun Life.

Not saying I like it, just asking.

With Tampa Bay and Jax? Is there any other team that is a state, while having other teams that is named after a city?
