Dolphins "open minded" to stadium in Palm Beach

Florida Marlins were one. Don't think there are any in the NFL though.

 

Florida Dolphins would be ok. Palm Beach Dolphins? No way! Would reak of rich old transplants. Same with Boca Dolphins.....

 

I wonder if all this stuff is strictly based on giving a wake up call for the Miami fanbase??

 

It would still be Miami Dolphins in all likelihood. If they did change it, they'd pull a Sentinel and just be the South Florida Dolphins.

West Palm may be considering to BUILD the stadium. It would Co$t Ross doughnut$ . Then lease it to the Dolphins for $30 yrs. It would insure the future of the ballclub, raise jobs , bring Superbowls, . The Hard Rock Casino already does Uber well in West Palm. We just had the Sunfest. I saw Clapton there last March. Golf Courses, And don't even begin to mention the Indain owned Casinos. They could buy it themselves and lease it to the Phins. HUGE business opportunity Miami will be sorry they let go.

 

Weatherford will be working in a fast food restaurant by the time Ross is done with him.

 

It depends where in Palm Beach they are thinking of moving the stadium. Moving to Southern Palm Beach County is not a big move at all. Northern Palm Beach County near West Palm, Jupiter, etc? Well, that is a bigger move. I think there is enough of a fan base to support the team either way, though. Plenty of fans from Palm Beach, Martin, etc come to the games. Those in Collier and Lee might not enjoy the longer drive, however.

 

I love this idea! I'd be willing to donate the land around my neighborhood.

No matter what happens to the Dolphins, they seriously need some type of shuttle bus between the stadium (Palm Beach or Dade) and the closest Tri-Rail station. I'd be willing to attend more games if so.

 

but there are also a handful of stadiums situated amidst decent downtown locations (like Coors Field in Denver, below, which ties together for an awesome experience, plus a short walk to Tilted Kilt). I think it'd be great to create a West Palm Beach "City Place" type feel to it where one side of the stadium has its own little downtown full of shopping, eating, bars, entertainment, residences above the shops, and a handful of mid size condos/apt complexes, perhaps all wrapped around a large park with an amphitheater.

Probably in the lease agreement that the name has to remain Miami. I doubt the team would be willing to part with the name.

 

You'd probably get push-back from the Jags and Bucs. The Marlins worked because they were the only game in town for 5 years.

 

Probably, but the Dolphins are Florida's original professional sports team. Someone put up a cool "Deal with it" gif for me.

The Dolphins don't even play in Miami. They play in Miami Gardens, which is about 30 minutes northwest of Miami.

 

I find it interesting that people who would directly benefit from Ross' proposal are on his side in a he-said-she-said. And by interesting, I mean completely expected and entirely unsurprising.

That said, my sources do tell me that Weatherford made promises in favor of both sides.

 

I would love to see the Dolphins pick up and move leaving those whiny *** so called fans high and dry.
Go somewhere where people care about football and appreciate having a pro football team.

 

It would seem that way but Coors Field is on a whopping 76 acres which is significantly larger than many if not most NFL stadiums. For comparison, Soldier Field below sits on just 7 acres.



The parking could be established on the opposite side of the stadium, unobstructed by the mini downtown. University of Phoenix Stadium for instance has an expansive 25 acres for parking, with 8 of those dedicated to tailgating, but that could be significantly scaled down by employing a parking garage and leaving the open landscape for tailgaters.

I was just looking at Google Earth and there appears to be a large wasteland between the Loxahatchee Wildlife area and the Broward County line. It appears to be 5 miles from the Glades Road TP exit. Not sure what's out there but there's definitely no neighborhood.

That's a good one Des, I guess that makes sense considering how bad I would like a new stadium, however, I think it's a cheap shot, I like the way Ross owns and runs the team, he's generous, he's not nosey on the football side, he wants to win for the right reasons, he buys millions of dollars worth of tickets so the local fanbase can watch it on TV, and he's donating part of his worth to charity.

Tell me why I should not support our owner?, please be specific, this topic specifically?, and since his inception?

SoFlo Dolphins? How is this move going to be paid for IF such a move can be made? What do they do with Sun Life Stadium? Sell it to the U? Based on what Ross receives for selling Sun Life, what proportion of the new stadium will it contribute to?

 

Palm Beach county would pay for most of everything.

Either way Weatherford still lied about not making promises to Ross. Go figure... and Ross has the right to be pissed.

 

I agree, Broward would be a good middle ground. The current location of the stadium is really good IMO. It is pretty equidistant for most fans and very accessible. Where in Broward would it go? Near the Panthers arena? Where Lockhart is? Land is definitely an issue.

 

This is just more hot air from the organization.

If a stadium in Palm Beach became a reality the majority of the population that would support the Dolphins franchise would be an hour to an hour and a half away from the stadium.
Those of you that think attendance is bad now would be in for a rude awakening.

One of the reasons they wanted the stadium on the Dade Broward line is beause the claim was that the Miami area was just too far for Broward residents to travel for a game.
Now they'll expect Broward residents to travel to Palm Beach and Dade residents to travel an hour to an hour and a half. Yeah.......
