If you go to Google Maps - satellite - you can find Sun Life Stadium and surrounding grounds, pan back till you can just still see it - then scroll up to the area in the photographs.

It's not as big currently as Sun Life stadium and parking is currently. But it's not far. If there were some deck parking it would probably work. There are several other areas also.

My stance is we should build a brand new stadium that actually supports the computer/internet age and all the other great innovations instead of put a band aid on an old and poorly designed stadium.

I agree of course, but what do you mean when you say supports the Internet age, make it where there is wifi inside?, that doesn't seem like a big deal, I think that if they are going to build a new stadium it better be about creating an intimate setting..that way me and OZ can get romantic with each other...

I guess any extra event he will get because of the renovated venue that he wouldn't of got with the old one would be extra money in his pocket from the gate..

However, I think it pales in comparison to what the region would benefit from by having a first class venue..

Somebody needs to get in this mans ear and pitch him the idea of his approaching the canes to build a dual plex stadium for both programs.

"Cowboys and Lucas Oil were really the first two buildings designed specifically for the Super Bowl, and then multi-purpose events after that, and then the NFL after that," said Trubey. "We see the same potential here."

Read a bunch of articles, not one mention of the dynamics of stands close to the field and energy inside the building, no mention of enhancing the 12 th man thru construction...dum asses..love it love it..

Everyone loves The new cowboys stadium, EXCEPT the cowboys and their fans...lol...fact.

    You MUST be kidding....

Miami is one of the top destinations for night life, music scene, tourism, etc.
Palm Beach does not have NEAR the infrastructure of hotels, entertainment, etc.

    It's not even close.

40 minutes Miami to West Palm?

Clearly you've never made that drive.

    How so?

More accessible to less populated areas?
    Yay!

It makes it less accessible to the highest population areas that have supported this franchise.
A population area that is the largest TV market supporting the franchise among a number of other attributes. It's not an optimal plan in any sense of the imagination to move to the West Palm area.

I get what you are saying but this is the age of smart phones.
Everyone feels they NEED access no matter where they are and it opens up a number of things the organization can do to entertain fans at the game as well as advertise to the fans right through their phones.

It's a new generation of fans DJ and if they built a new stadium interactivity would be a major focus.

I very much agree with this.

Dollar for dollar that will be spent, the better plan long term is to build a new one.

I'd genuinely be interested in seeing the numbers of how many people South of Broward attend, compared to the number of people North of Broward.

    Let me get this straight....

So you're telling me that you think Palm Beach county historically supports the Dolphins more than a market the franchise started in, has historically drawn a vast majority of its fans from, and is twice the size of Palm Beach?

I CLEARLY did read what you typed.
Is Palm Beach not north of Broward and is it not the focus of this discussion? Jesus.

So you're trying to tell me now that there are huge numbers of fans coming from Jupiter?

I'm not sure population is a good barometer. Miami-Dade has a lot of people, but a lot less affluent people. Miami Dade's median income is ~$43K, Palm Beach's is ~$53K. 13% of PBC residents live under poverty, nearly 20% of Miami-Dade residents do. These are fairly recent trends too, and theres no indication they will reverse.

what could you do besides making the building wifi capable that would be ground breaking..?.. It's like a hotel, wifi it and let people do what they want no?

My real point reef is chalk up some more dumb suits for not capitalizing on what I'm preaching, hell the blueprint and sucess has an NFL model to take from (Seattle) and their not listening, they continue to make it with bells and whistles, they don't understand the monetary advantage of catering to the 12 th man concept, let along the tangible affect it can help on the game..

If I'm the owner this is my first statement when it comes to my new building for the team..

Yes, we are going to have the fun things that some fans want, like wifi, nice hd screens and all that, but make no mistake about it, this building is going to be unique, it will be built from the ground up, to become the greatest 12 th man venue in sport, we promise that you will be on top of the action, we promise you will feel the hits and we promise this, you will feel something you haven't felt since the days of the orange bowl.

Then you start marketing that angle, that the fanbase can truly impact their team and the game, the 12 th man concept, shoot, you watch the tickets fly off the shelves.

If you're going to get into demographics you'll have to add what the highest percentage of Palm Beach's wealth represents as well as how the higher percentage of wealthy individuals per capita in the area skews the "median income" number. I don't think those numbers make as much of a difference as you are thinking they do.

Also the wealth in Palm Beach is a much older demographic. It's old money and some are much more likely to attend the theater or a Polo match than an NFL game. The "new money" resides south of Palm Beach. You've got the "Waldorf Astoria" type money in Palm Beach while the trendy "W" type crowd resides in S. Florida. It's why I never tore into Ross for going the route of celebrity power and the "Orange carpet" concept. I know people hated it but he knows who he has to try to get on board down there.

Thats why I used median-income. If we are going to get into wealth distribution, Miami's situation is much worse.

A new stadium should have what you state.
Just pointing out why the hi tech angle would definitely be a major focus as well.

How about clarifying your damn stance...

How about New England? It's north of Broward.

How big of an area are you going to attempt to argue that a move to Palm beach draws in new fans North of Broward?

ok..question, so when you talk about it having that angle for the smartphone people and staying on top of that angle, your just saying to make sure it's wifi compatible, or is there something else I'm missing when it comes to technology inside a stadium that could enhance your experience.??

Deej...Pumpkin...if its technology, you know there's plenty you're missing.

WiFi can keep a lot of people focused on the game, just by making it easier to order food and drinks from their seats instead of waiting in line.

Wow, could you imagine the angle in marketing of building a venue to intimidate and the action on the field, as one..

Commercial... OB2.." Where your part of the action"...shows a family of four putting on some gear, lol, some kids helmets, and eye black on the dad"" slow motion money shot of them entering the new OB2...

    Damn.

Miami Dolphins will have high density wifi in their stadium beginning this season. First team in the NFL to do so IIRC.

I have overestimated your ability to reason. Im not going to bother. I am sure there are others who understand what I am saying.

I understand you don't want them to move North which is understandable, but it is NOT a horrible idea like you are trying to frame it out to be. I happen to think its a great idea. Step out of little Havana once in a while and observe the masses which do not lie within it.

Not good for our stadium, not with the distance, people will easily transition from engagement to browsing their Facebook and email as soon as the game turns for the worse, that disconnect can only get worse with this.

WiFi alone is huge. Ordering food and drinks from your seat instead of waiting in line. Transmitting replays to your device so you can see it up close. Following stats and other games. New contests that take advantage of smartphones. Interactive stadium maps.

Plus they could add charging stations. More TVs around the bathrooms and concourse. Cooling/warming zones. Better kitchen technology will allow them to offer better food and quicker. Interactive zones that allow you to experience the history of the Dolphins. People movers that speed up the traffic on the concourse. Hell, if they wanted to put the money into it, they could probably come up with a way to project the the line of scrimmage/first down line on the actual field the way they do on TV.

You overestimated my ability to reason?

I stated the absurd "New England" comment to mirror the absurdity of this mystery mass of fans to the north of Palm Beach county you keep mentioning.

You STILL have yet to tell anyone where exactly this mass of new fans moving the team an hour north will bring.

You went from stating Palm Beach to "anywhere north of Broward" like there is a massive populace somewhere that compares to the S. Florida market. There isn't until you get to the Orlando area. That area is so far that making the trek a 2 hour difference as opposed to 3 hours is not going to produce any more fans coming to games from that area.

In reference to Miami (labeled as Little Havana in your enlightened post) you're now stating: "the masses which don't lie within it". Well where do they lie?

Dade and Broward represent the 16th largest TV market in the Nation. Palm Beach to Ft. Pierce represents the 38th with less than half the same television households represented. Where on earth are you getting your "masses" numbers?

Also I'll state again that the Dade and Broward market represent the vast majority of hotel and entertainment venue inventory of the S. Florida market. Dade and Broward absolutely crush Palm Beach county or anything near to the north of it on that aspect.

So yes, moving your team that far out of it's home market, away from the majority of it's fan base, away from the majority of the supporting infrastructure supporting visiting fans, etc. is pretty much a horrible idea.

The organization needs to find a way to make a stadium work in Dade or Broward county and I believe they will because at the end of the day it's the optimal location.

    Yes they will.

That said it's a new age and people demand this.
You will absolutely lose people coming to games if you don't cater to this movement.
It's not all doom and gloom though.
They will use the technology to engage fans as well. replays, interactivity exercises, contests, etc.

But yes in the end you'll have a number of fans with their heads buried on a screen rather than involved in the game.
    It is what it is.

these are all nice enhancements and in today's hi tech world are really becoming more on the "well of course they are" list. the thing that really needs to be addressed first and foremost is the stadium it's self. now I've never been to JRS but from all that I've heard and by the pictures most of the seats are a mile away from the action. they could build a JRS II and everyone would naturally turn to their iPads and tablets because in reality lol there really wouldn't be much difference.

they should look at Arrowhead Stadium here in KC. every time I have been to a game there all the seats keep you in the action, literally standing and screaming for 3 hours. make the stadium part of the experience positively then add the hi tech benefits to enhance :)

    "Lipstick on a pig"

We're so far from having a new stadium it's all we got..

Anyone watch the bulls game last nite and saw how the energy or lack thereof affected that team, they needed energy to play the game they want, and because of the 6 o'clock start time the stadium was half full, Steve Kerr blamed the lack of energy/attendance situation on their performance, it was dead, and they sh&$ themselves, I only point this out to show folks that when our team comes out to play and they feel that desolance, it affects them the same way.

Your just making it harder for your team to win.
