The fact that the Vikes actually had time run out of them before they sent their pick in two years in a row amazes me. Something the Jets would do. Glad we got the pick in!
Yeah. I do wonder what happens when they fail to submit a pick. Slap on the wrist or forfeiture? Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 2
Sounds like Ireland offered the Raiders the 54 and a swap and they turned it down and asked for the 42. Nice job trying if this is the case. Never hurts to low ball when dealing with the Raiders.
I heard it was #12 and Bess that was offered and turned down. They countered with #12 and #42 which we accepted.
I'm going to rewrite the headline just to see what the reaction is. "Dolphins Discuss How Close They Came to Drafting Tyler Eifert"
I would think they would draft Tavon Austin or Lane Johnson if they got him quick enough. All depending on what the Eagles did. Imagine the forums if Miami traded up only to be late on the pick.
If you think about it, we didnt give them the 12, we only gave them a 42, the 3 and the 12 wash each other out, AND we pick up an extra 9 spots of value/better prospect in the swap, which with my calculation equates to less then the 42..lol, that's at least how I like to look at it.
i don't get the time problem, normally when a trade is done, the new team has a fresh clock to work with no ?
I think if your time is up, you simply stay on the clock with the next team, however you risk them taking your player.
Eagles would have taken Dion Jordan, Lane Johnson would have fallen a couple of picks, Rams still trade up to get Austin. There were also reports that Eifert was the pick at 12 had the Dolphins stayed there. Correct. The best way to think of being on the clock is to imagine it as a window of exclusivity; only you can pick, no one else. But once your time is up, the next guy gets his turn even if you haven't submitted a pick. This is yet another reason why Rick Spielman's trade up for Vernon Carey was ridiculous... Danny, Pat already told you to STFU.
Even if the Eagles go their pick in quick enough to get Dion Jordan, the amount of work the Rams would have to do to both trade up and then pick would not have been enough time for Miami to be jumped by them. If the Dolphins made the pick and ran out of time and the Eagles got Jordan, they would pick Lane Johnson or Tavon Austin before Eifert.
If not for Jordan, and Miami went behind the Eagles, Austin would be a phin. Great trade but man if we just gave up bess, that would have been epic
