I'm not sure how they're going to handle his storyline. If they stick to the books he won't have anything to do for years.
It seems like they decided they wanted him to continue to appear regularly on the show. I can't think of any other reason why they're doing what they're doing and why they're dragging out the process of... Spoiler revealing that his torturer is Ramsey Snow.
In an interview with the showrunners, they said they decided to show what happens to Theon because they like the actor playing him so much and they wanted to keep him around.
I'd be happy if Arya was the main character and every episode was about her, but I haven't been bored by the Theon stuff....maybe because I haven't read the books though....
Bit of a quiet episode this week, which is a bit of a surprise seeing as it was George RR Martin that wrote this one, but I think it set it up nicely for the last three episodes of the season by catching breath and letting us see where all the main storylines are at. I think next week's could be a bit of a stormer...
I loved the exchange between Tywin and Joffrey. Arya saying her one god is death was a great moment. She is stoic and full of anger determined to get vengeance. She is one of my favorite characters. The fact that she said death was her one true god foreshadows (for a guy that hasn't read the books) that she will be meeting up with Jaqen again IMO,
Has anyone who read the books had a hard time reading them? I started reading book 1 weeks ago, and I'm only about half way through it. It's not that it's boring or anything, but for some reason it is just taking me a long time to read through it. When I put it down after a couple of hours, it may be days before I feel like investing more time into resuming my read. Is it just me? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Theon did get castrated and...the Queen of the North is preggers and....Khalesi threatens to lay waste to an entire city. That's a testament to this show, that when a big character gets his junk cut off...its a slow week. Hell, most shows have a main couple reveal they're pregnant during sweeps week, and this show its basically an afterthought or a calm before the real **** hits the fan.
True, very true. I'm looking forward to the next few episodes in particular, I've read the first three books so we're almost up to the last part where I can still remember what happens next...after that I'm happily joining the TV "virgins" who can enjoy whatever surprises are in store spoiler-free.
I kind of agree. I would describe book 1 as a little clunky but full of good info worth paying attention to. Book 2 is breathless, moving very quickly. I think I finished it in a couple days (it's actually my personal favorite). Book 3 moves nearly as fast but with much more going on and it is the best book as far as quality writing goes. Books 4 &5? Well we can talk if/when you get there, lol I'm saying this because the books are all different. Book 1 has great info and is a great story but it isn't the best written, imo. It gets better I would say just be patient. Of course it may not be for you. Nothing wrong with that
I've been a George R R Martin fan since his first book. He's actually a really cool guy from what I can tell. Except hes a big Jets fan. All I can say is they have nailed Westoros...and....the.type.casting.has.been.spot.on. Can't wait for book six.Yall are in for a great ride! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
I think he has a fire lit under his ***. I hear he is cool too. I guess he will talk to you so long as you don't ask him about the books. Knowing that, I would see him and say, "......So, how long have you had a beard?..." And then walk away in shame
He writes every chapter from a.different.characters perspective. So you become emotionally invested in them. What makes it difficult at times is out can be awhile till he gets back to a particular character, if at all in a book. So far the only character who has appeared in every book is Arya. Who's everyone's favorite character do far? Danaryes and Arya are.mine, but they are.all.so good its hard.to.really choose Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
I also like Jon and Davos. Liking Jon made the 5th book hard to read. I honestly don't think it made any sense. Not a fan of Stannis myself.
So many to choose from, but in no particular order, Jon Snow, Arya, Danaryes, and Jaqen. I used to really like Tyrion, but it seems hes becoming very soft in S3. He's lost that demeanor and confidence he had in the first two seasons. I am really beginning to like Jaime Lannister too.
Davos is freaking awesome and was well cast. I wouldn't like Stannis as much if it weren't for Davos Spoiler Stannis won me over when he came to the wall. He doesn't suffer fools and he is the best chance the North has atm Yeah. No idea about Jon. I hope that gets cleared up quickly in book 6
Its kind of hard to get around him pushing a child off a tower to protect his secret incestuous affair with his sister, when talking about his likability.
Amazing we're even talking about possible likeability after that start, which says a lot for the writing in this story. My favorite characters in the books were Arya and Tyrion, and the show has done a good job with them as they're my favorites onscreen too. I liked Jon in the books though, and I find him a bit boring in the show, although he's started to improve slightly of late.
What I like about Tyrion and Jamie, is the spectrum of their personalities. Jamie especially, you are starting to see someone who isn't quite as cold as Cersai. Whom I might add its hot as hell. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
The thing that drives me crazy if I think about it too much (having not read the books) is I can see the validity of several characters' claim to the throne. And I know eventually multiple likeable characters are going to come into conflict.
You wanna make it even worse? There's 2 "thrones" now, what happens if something happens to Robb? Is Brann next? His uncle whose betrothed to the Freys? His baby if its a boy? Or.....Jon Snow?
The more I think about that, the more I realize that it was the times, and death, especially of women and children during that era did not carry the same weight as they do in today's society. Think of the pillaging of towns and raping and killing of women and children, it was commonplace during that era. Considering Jamie's perspective, I believe it diminished the severity of his wrong doing to protect his family's name and honor, which is more important to Tywin over anything else. Tywin pillaged entire keeps to establish/protect the Lannister name. What is the death of one more child?
I thought this weeks episode was the "sappiest" episode from all seasons. A little to many love scenes for me this week, but one scene I was not complaining about was with Rob Stark's wife. SHE IS FINE and i could have watched her lay on the bed naked all episode.
That's probably because the makers of the show want us to be more invested when they emotionally rape us over the next 3 episodes. I've never read the books and I have no idea what's coming, but I'm sure its going to hurt, because this show has the balls to sucker punch the audience onto our backs, where they'll promptly teabag us while taking pictures with their phones and posting them on Facebook.
They're setting Araya up to be Anakin Skywalker. She witnesses her father die (kinda), spends time in a prison (sorta) and now she claims death is her only God. Really enjoying her characters transformation. Feel like her and Danaryes' are similar in that way
The major difference between the two is: If Arya had Danaryes' dragons, Joffery, Littlefinger, Cersei, Jaime, Tywinn, Tyrion, Pycelle, Varys and the Hound would all be churros by now and Robb would have won the war.
I haven't read the books either, but...(spoiler in case someone hasn't seen Ep.07 yet) Spoiler I think Arya is going to come to the understanding that the Hound is actually a good guy inside and befriend him over time during his kidnapping of sorts. In fact, that was evident to the viewers based on how he reacted to Joffrey's sadistic behavior towards Sansa, and how the Hound constantly looked out for Sansa. Or, I could be completely wrong and he is going to try to use Arya to bargain for something, but I don't see it.
We'll see, but I think the type of person Arya is, she'd gut Santa Claus if she found out he chuckled when Ned died.
Almost nobody on the show can claim any moral high ground. That's what makes the show so great. Likeability is very fungible.
