I'm possibly looking to come over for the last game of the regular season on the 29th December 2013 for the Dolphins game against New York Jets. How much would a 5 day stay cost, in the region of? Any recommended hotels near the stadium, or would staying in a different area of Florida / Miami be better then traveling over to the Sunlife on game day be a better option? Any help with this would be appreciated, I don't know where to start planning this idea. The game falls on my girlfriends birthday so would be a nice present, possibly departing the UK on 27th and leaving Miami / Florida / wherever on New Years day. Again any help would be appreciated.
The week between Christmas and New Years tends to be a bit more expensive in the area because so many people come down to visit during this week. If it is your first visit to South Florida, you might like to stay on South Beach. There are numerous fine restaurants and hotels on South Beach. There are also many spots on South Beach, you and your girlfriend can go to at night to party and have a great time. You will also be close to one of the best Beaches in the United States. Five nights on South Beach at this time of year will be rather expensive. Other options might be to stay in Broward County. There are several nice hotels close to the beach throughout Broward County. The Stadium is basically on the Miami-Dade, Broward line, so staying in Broward County won't leave you far from the stadium. You can always contact the Miami Dade and Broward tourist development councils and I am sure they will send you more ideas in regards to places to stay and visit while you are in the area. They will also be able to help you determine the cost of hotels during the time you will be visiting the area. Since you didn't state how much you have to spend during your visit, it is difficult to give you specifics regarding hotels in the area. Some hotels are reasonable and others can be quite expensive. Because we don't have a mass transit system that covers the entire region, you can also expect to have to rent a car for your entire visit. This will add a few hundred dollars to your visit. If you have the time while you are in the area, you and your girlfriend might want to take a drive down to the Florida Keys for a day. There are plenty of great restaurants in the Keys and it is a completely different lifestyle from the rest of South Florida. I am sure you will have a great time in South Florida during your visit and getting tickets to the game really shouldn't be a problem at all. If this is your first visit to South Florida, just enjoy the multi-cultural aspects of our city and enjoy the warm winter that I am sure you will experience. Hopefully the Dolphins can make your trip complete by beating the Jets. Have fun and enjoy our beautiful South Florida area.
I say this to every person from the north or the UK that comes to a game.....wear a strong sunscreen. I don't care what time of the year you go, protect yourself from the sun.
Yes they can. Skin is skin and heat is heat. If black people can be burnt by anything else, they can be sunburnt.
Well said JW. I might add that as of late, several hotels on Biscayne Blvd have been renovated and are now catering to the Mid-Town art galleries and are decent priced rooms, as opposed to staying right on the beach which in November to April can be extremely expensive. I think you could stay at the New Yorker for around $ 110 a night, which is about half (or less) than what you would pay on Miami Beach. http://www.hotelnewyorkermiami.com/ It's very close to the new "hot" area of Miami, called Mid-Town, and there are some really nice places to eat and party close by (Balan's for example : http://www.balans.co.uk/site/index.php/miami/biscayne/ ) South Beach is only a 20 (or less) minute ride from the New Yorker and the same for Sun Life Stadium. So the vehicle suggestion is a very good one. In Miami its really a necessity.
