that would leave your depth thin and relying on a rookie....Riley would indeed need to fill in some pieces...

Well, the thing to remember about this CBA is that it basically decimated the middle class. The mid-level exception just isn't going to be available to most teams.

That means that guys who previously got the mid-level (think guys like Chauncey Billups) are going to end up being minimum, or slightly above minimum players. And I like our odds to snag those types of guys. Plus, the guy we're theoretically drafting this eyar would be a 2nd year player when LBJ is making this decision. If whoever he is can be as good as Cole, then we're good.

It'll be interesting to see how Wade's knees look by the end of next season. If he's wearing down I'm not sure LeBron will want to sign on for 4 years of Wade declining and these minimal pieces and parts due to being maxed out.

I think it comes down to Riley having another trick up his sleeve more than anything. If he can convince Wade to play out this deal while getting Bron / Bosh to re-sign it would give them flexibility to re-sign Wade at a more team-friendly deal after 2 years and hopefully add other parts.

I can definately see the Heat getting back into this year's draft. I would love a Shane Larkin or a TH Jr.

Saw Zach Lowe trashed the CLE response to winning the lottery. I get why, but at the same time - think about what the event is, and then the fact we're pretending teams should hold some sort of reverence around it. Also if we've established that small markets aren't going to sign FA, are we really also going to mock them for being excited for winning the lottery? Like - this is Cleveland's ONLY CHANCE at getting good players. Miami held a giant party when the Big 3 signed - want to know what's it's like in Cleveland? We have to get excited about this.

I am not so sure that he will ask for more money.

His basketball salary represents about 20% of his annual income based on all of his ventures.

Chris Bosh is the guy that will need to be negotiated with.

Wade also has huge endorsement deals that dwarf his salary.

I wouldn't worry about Wade's knees so much. I watch his production. It;s damn good and BETTER at this point than Kobe's was at this point in his career.

Wade is aging perfectly. Low impact efficiency. The perfect compliment to LBJ. Still an All-star..still the best SG in the NBA.

Remember..we are one month removed from Wade outplaying Lebron for half of that 27 game streak.

I think people also underestimate just how close LBJ and Wade are. Their friendship is deeper than just being friendly with a guy you work with. unless something dramatically changes, I can't see LBJ abandoning him for greener pastures.

I know he left cleveland, but beyond the fact they were unlikely to win in the near future, he always said his home was Akron, not Cleveland, he didn;t root for any of the cleveland sports teams, etc. He also wasn't close to any of the guys on that team or to anybody in the front office. I think he said Varaejo was the only former teammate he still spoke to.

Long story short, I think he has greater bonds here then he did in Cleveland

No way Orlando is the worst team next year or even in the bottom-5. Their FO is too smart to put together a roster that bad.

I could see us as a bottom 5 team. We'll see, though.I'm not one to hope for a team to intentionally tank but I think it will he for the best.

Isn't it the opposite? If they are smart..they try to go 0-82. They get wiggins, and add that to what they have already..they are damn near a playoff team.

    Think of it like this...

next years draft is like last years QB draft....

    Wiggins = Andrew Luck.

I like Tannehill, but if you are Orlando..you don't want to get stuck with Tannehill.

The only problem with that tactic is that you cant guarantee the #1 overall pick by tanking the season the same way you can in the NFL a la the Colts.

Tanking an entire season for Wiggins is something only people on message boards think happens in real life. Its akin to moving Zach Thomas to Safety. Now, if they're in the bottom-5 after 60 games, maybe they sit someone on the bench due to an "injury", but smart, comptetitve FOs don't tank an entire season. Not from the jump.

Orlando can tank without really having to do anything. They are playing young players, who even if they improve won't make them that much better. They were never going to sign free agents this eyar, they might try and trade Jameer Nelson, which could certainly be seen as a reasonable move for a rebuilding team, etc.

Toronto would really have to try.

Kind of like the Heat in 2008. the season started off poorly, then Wade got hurt, we traded Marion and voila 15-67

There is nothing structurally wrong with his knees and his injury isnt even the same as last season if I'm not mistaken. He just has a bone bruise that won't be gone until the offseason.

The Cavs have very much tanked the last two years. They didn't sign a bench. They held guys out for hilariously long stretches for minor injuries.

Kyrie admitted as much at the end of the year - media asked him about a phantom injury and he said 'Let me guess, Im out 4-6 weeks now'
