Good article, with some nice video clips. Can't help but notice a lot of them are from the 'Zona game. Liked the video breaking down how Ryan performed on the Seattle comeback drive. Good stuff. We have ourselves a keeper.

I can't wait to see how the new body moves around in the pocket, he really had poor protection last year, lets hope we can protect this kid so he can throw on time from an even platform..

Remember when a lot of people wanted him to sit? Man imagine if that happened? So glad he started last year. He is a better QB for it

I can't wait to see how he hands off to Lamar Miller, the running game is going to set the table for the offense. Establish Miller to draw the LB's, then hit Keller behind them on play action to get the safeties attention, after that, Wallace for the K.O..

Very simple strategy, but who's gonna stop it?

Really good article! I've been on the bandwagon since I watched that Jon Gruden show on him last offseason. As long as he gets some descent blocking dude is gonna light-up the league!

Nice, I never realized it but Rosethal is right about his touch passes. Sometimes that is a hard trait for these young guys to learn that you do not need to sling it every pass. And with his small amount of experience, its pretty amazing how good he uses it.

Is it September yet? Hell i'll even take July for training camp!

Im geeked up for this year. Ill be really disappointed if Tannehill doesnt make "the jump". I said last year he was the 3rd best QB from his draft class. I think he will end up being better than at least one of the 2 QB's picked in front of him (RG3 and Luck), maybe both. Hes got the tools to be great. I think he was really that handicapped by his lack of playmakers last year but fitting the passes in to all those tight windows last year may help him long term. The biggest thing is cleaning up his footwork so he has more consistent accuracy and is able to drive the ball better. That was the one part of his game that looked like he was still relatively new to being a QB again. Other than that hes going to be on his way to being a great QB imo.

Only bit i found a little depressing were how many of those highlight throws involved Bess, of course hopefully next year at this time we'll be watching highlight throws to Wallace et al. instead.

Lamar miller has made a concerted effort to pack in some muscle, I think he's quite serious about being the man, I say that because he understands body fat ratio and is willing to stay at the same weight which is 215, but at a much lower body fat%, he's been training with frank gore this offseason and this all makes me very happy, and imo is the most effective way of projecting talent at this level..Being the same weight yet changing your ratio means he will be faster, stronger, more confident when he runs the ball so he can trust his moves and get more elusive, he's a much better fit for this system than bush because his skillset is about vision and burst, Reggie's is not..huge proponent to move on from Reggie skillset, think its an upgrade waiting to happen..

Most teams cannot share this simple philosophy of football you speak of, most teams do not have the skillset of a mike Wallace that makes that safety worry about his fellow corners space..I will always remember that play where Mike beat Jason Allen on that deep post where Jason was playing off man coverage at about 10 yards, totally succumbed to the post by flipping his hips as Mike left the Los, ran as fast as he could toward his own endzone and still got beat strait up...never forget it.

When Philbin talked about how this is a simple game, maybe that's exactly why he chose Wallace over Jennings, to play that 3 level game.

Football season starts for me the first day at camp., July 21st in our case..

The criticism about Ryan when he came out about throwing in he middle of the field was BS, one of his best throws is touch on the seam route, he's really good at the deep out, and i said this a million times since he came out, besides Rodgers I don't think there is anyone who can throw on the run better from both sides than Ryan, everything is in complete harmony when he does it, it's really fun to watch..

That should actually give you a raging hard on. Tannehill is really good with competent receivers.

We added 2 better receivers than Bess and added Keller.

Tannehill will be better then Kaepernick, Newton and RG3 imo. Stafford and Luck are still up in the air. I havent decided if he will be better then them yet but I think he can be close. I do think 4000 yards and 25TDs are within reach this year and reasonable expectations based on what I saw last year and the improvements made.

On a different note, Im excited just to have expectations again for this team. I expect us to make the playoffs. I expect Tannehill to make "the jump" from good to excellent. I expect that teams are really going to hate playing us because of our offensive firepower and our physical defense. I expect this to be a good year. All of those are expectations I havent had in about 3 years.

Huh...as a senior with Fuller and Swope on the roster RT finished ranked 56th in "college" football and led the preseason #8 team to a 7-6 record and out of the top 25. Perhaps waiting until he actually does it on the field is a good idea. Hate to think of what you consider to be incompetent for a QB.

I was just about to tell everyone to calm down because we really don't know what we have in Tanny, yet, and they may be really sad this coming December. However, you need to open your eyes if you think Foles and Ponder are on Tanny's level .

Dude, it's a different era. Passing yards are much easier to come by, imo.

But it's still a sign he's the best we have had in a rookie since Dan the Man.

Of course and I knew someone was going to mention that point, but we're talking Dan the Man and even with the rule changes, it's still very impressive and very significant for a rookie in Miami and especially for a guy who only had nineteen college starts.

If you want to wait until he does it on the field, then why do you have players ahead of him who clearly have shown they're bad on the field? Bradford and Freeman don't belong ahead of him. Ponder and Foles aren't on his level.

That was what sold me too, that show, from then on I was rooting for us to pick him.

I am extremely high on him, and feel despite the problems we still have this guy is just that good that he can and WILL overcome them to possibly lead the team to greatness. I'm still cautious in my prediction of an 8-8 season, but if Tannehill can do over the expectations we could be 10-6 and in contention for a WC when we play those, stinkin', rotten, nasty Jests last week of the season.

To win a WC off of their misery could never make me more happy. [IMG]

I agree, because unless he proves otherwise, to me RGIII is fragile, and may not realize his potential because his body will breakdown way to early in his career and cut it short. Washington needs to take advantage now and strike this next couple of seasons or it may be too late.

But Marino didn't start all 16 games that year. I believe he started only 12.

EDIT : I stand corrected he started only 11....the Buffalo loss in the Orange Bowl was his 1st start and 6th game of the season. We lost a thriller game, and all I can remember is the buzz in the bus ride (remember park-n-ride anyone?) back to our car at FIU. No one could stop talking about him.

A realist would say that Brady, Manning(both), & Brees eventually will retire. If you were in the belief that Tannehill could hang with the likes of Luck, Griffin, Kaepernick, Wilson, Newton... than yes, your anticipating he develops into a pro-bowl QB. (4 of those 5 are NFC too :hi5:) Aside from Luck, there's no finer young QB in the conference.

I could probably say Eli, Romo, Rivers, Rothlisberger, Vick all have been in my top 5 over the past 5 years. So top 5 isn't top 3. All those guys will be gone when these young guns are in their prime.

In that case you have to recognize the team and players Danny had around him. The Dolphins were the #2 AFC team in 82 and had a top 3 rushing game going into the 83 season. Danny went to a complete playoff team with HOF Center Stephenson snapping the ball and rest of the line was solid as well. They also draft Clayton that year. Duper, Moore, and Rose were outstanding playmakers in their day and accounted for 19 TDs. The 83 Defense was still a who's who of Dolphins greats as well, even though most were on the downside or end of their careers.

Tannehill suffered from poor tackle and guard play on the line and had no one downfield but Hartline and Bess was irrelevant anyway but the slot. Fasano made a few plays, but too few.

This isn't to take anything away from Danny, but let's not act like he didn't have some talent around him. Can't really say the same for Tannehill. This season will be a better indicator of what we have in him... let's enjoy seeing him with a flyer like Wallace and upgrades everywhere else.

I would say over a career, relatively speaking, Dan Marino had subpar talent surrounding him for the duration...never a run game, below average tight ends, and a few very good receivers..that's about it...oh, and many crappy to average defenses.
