He is not a weapon IMO. He is a 250-pound gimmick that can only line up in the shotgun. He has neither the skill nor the experience nor the awareness nor the desire to play another position. Remember when he was the punt protector against us last year? He forgot to block Jimmy Wilson. Touchdown Dolphins.

He wants to play QB but he's just not an NFL grade player. The Jets QB situation was a dumpster fire last year, complete with injuries and benching. And they still wouldn't let the kid take snaps. We have two who are CONFIRMED better than him, and a third whom the coaches really seem to like. There is no room at the inn.

You look at the good teams in this league -- and I mean the really good teams -- they ain't pulling their QB off the field. The gimmick stuff is for teams that have to manufacture offense. That's why we did it in the first place. I don't want anyone but Ryan Tannehill taking snaps for this team.

Even if he did commit to playing another position, Tebow does not fit our offseason objective of becoming more explosive and athletic at the skill positions.

Tebow certainly had success a few years ago with Denver. But it was of the miraculous variety, not that of a phenomenal QB talent. And much like the Wildcat, circumstances change and teams adjust. And you're left with something that just isn't good enough. Not to mention the circus tents and distractions that come with it.

There's a reason why no one has even given him a sniff.

I still think Tebow plays somewhere/some day in the NFL,I don't think it will be in Miami though.
The biggest thing he has working against him is the focus it would bring.Part of that was on him but most was ESPN.

I'm warming up to this... we still have those male cheerleaders right? He'd be perfect for that position! Have him running up and down the sideline, getting the crowd involved. Wave the Dolphin flag.

Agree 100% and I too see Joe Kapp in his game. The CFL will give his a chance to hone his craft and then some NFL team will see his worth and sign him. Given the Jag's QB mess Tim could reserface in the NFL in 2014.

As for Miami, thanks but no thanks, we had our circus last year with Hard Knocks!

Well, actually he could resurface with us in 2014. We have a strong liking of guys from the CFL... And that's not a bad thing. So you never know. Of course if it happens there will be a melt down of nuclear reactor proportions. haha

I for one hope it never happens.

    23rd,

You don't need to private message me FOUR times attacking me when I merely said "I forgot about you" hence the meaning that I haven't read one of your posts in a long time. Calling me a "moron" a "bully" and something else for again forgetting you are on this forum is a little over the top if you ask me.

    Mods,

Please go and look at my private messages and see what I speak of. You will see I have innocent PM's from Fin-D about a noble organization he is running, and a few other ones. Honestly I expect something to be done because I am offended at his attacks. It makes my whole experience on this forum not feel right when I say something not threatening and get attacked 4 times over my private message.

it is ridiculous, and frankly bulls$it.....freaking gandosh.

Tebow is contributing a lot to Miami right now. By not being on the roster.

This is what really sticks out from that article:

"But he's such a nice guy!"

Bull****, the ego maniac couldnt see flaws in his own game and refused to correct them.
Meanwhile, Tannehill has been looking at film from every game last year in an effort to identify and correct his mistakes. Not to mention it was clear last year that he would rarely make the same mistake twice.

Tell me 23rd, who has the brighter future in the NFL?

2 yrs ago I would have agreed, but Tebow is a distraction to any Team with a solid starter at QB. I don't think he's washed up, just 1 lucky break away from playing again.

The thing is....he's not willing to do so, he wants to be a Qb. Period. He's not the team first guy and locker room presence that people seem to think he is, that stuff is a myth. Players follow players that will help them win. Tebow adds literally nothing to a team right now other than negativity and disappointment. He is rightfully receiving no interest from anyone right now. When he chose to go to NY over Jacksonville he made the worst choice of his life and he will never be an NFL Qb after that. Its over lets move onto talking about players that are relevant to reality.

its not a surprise!!! Everyone knows when he's in the game, you're going to try something with him, and it's likely not going to work.

You see nothing negative??? Wow, thank god we have Jeff Ireland. I never thought I'd say that. Just when I thought yesterday... this couldn't get any worse...

That's the part that never gets talked about.

No one seems to be asking why he made that choice. The Jets were on a downturn and in the end are no better than the Jags. So it wasn't about wanting to play for a better team. There was an entrenched starter at the Jets and none in Jax, so it wasn't playing time.

I suspect it was because of the size of the market. The spotlight on a back up QB in NY is considerably bigger than the spotlight on a starting QB in Jax. The real question seems to be, why did he want the bigger spotlight? Was it because he craves it or was it because so he could proselytize to larger group? I dunno, but neither speaks well for his football dedication.

well, it's been an interesting thread providing some food for thought & acute observations... even a little controversy.
as I type I believe he probably wouldn't be an item unless there were a major attitude revision. when I started thread I wasn't aware of the apparent selfishness, lack of humility & inflexibility emanating from his person. just saw a very talented football player ...

Going to the Jets was a horrid choice for him and I thought it was obvious when he made it. There was no reason to believe that Sparano would know how to use him just b/c Miami ran a few wildcat plays. I like Tebow more than most. I believe that in the right system he could be a good NFL QB. But we are not that system and we have a QB who is one of the best prospects in the league and not limited to a system. The only way I'd consider Tebow at this point is at TE/short yardage back, but even that might not be worth the circus. And it's not even an option since he still wants to do the QB thing. It's a poor idea for us and for him.

I think Jax would have built an offense around him and you know it might have worked, at least it would have been interesting and it would have played to his strengths. His decision to go to NY was just so obviously wrong I still don't get it.

I think you hit the nail on the head with the spotlight/proselytizing angle, he wants attention and a big podium. He made some nonsensical excuse that playing for his home team would be too much pressure....versus NY? Never made any sense. Such a dumb decision and it cost him his NFL career, its over, he won't even be on a roster this year.

    Be realistic.

If Tebow didn't genuflect every time he passed gas, no one would even be talking about him right now. His "legend" is based on him being a "model citizen" and "role model."

Other than that, he's worthless to the NFL.

I've followed Tebow's career closely when he was at Florida. I also know his personal story growing up in my hometown of Jacksonville Beach. Tim Tebow is a GREAT kid. You will never find a finer human being in the NFL in my opinion. That being said...

College football and professional football are two different games. At Florida, Tebow was a BEAST, nearly unstoppable. A kid with a strong arm and the courage to run the ball between tackles and not afraid to deliver (not take, but deliver) a hit on opposing defenses. I personally think he is the greatest college football player ever. But as I said, college and pro football are two different games.

I had my doubts and reservations about Tebow's ability to play quarterback at the NFL level. At the college level, all quarterbacks face defenses that have 4-6 NFL caliber level defensive players. The rest are college level players, but in the NFL, a quarterback faces 11 NFL caliber defensive players, every one of them the finest at their respective positions. If they weren't they'd go undrafted along with the hundreds of other players. What Tebow did in college isn't feasible in the NFL, not for longevity. And in order for Tebow to be successful, the offense would need to be tailored to his skills set and not the other way around. This was realized in Denver and Tebow was able to play HIS style of football. Granted, Denver's defense had alot to do with it, but Tebow did WIN.

The Great Fist Pumper Tony Sparano never made an effort to tailor its offense to Tebow and went with Mark Sanchez. This goes to show the quality of offensive coordinator ability of Sparano and as such, Tebow's days in New York were dismal at best.

I love Tim Tebow but he doesn't have what it takes to be an NFL caliber quarterback.

As for the media circus...that's the media being the vulturous whores that they are. Tebow never solicited media attention. Tebow was humble before the press. Tebow garnered all of this attention due to his devout Christian faith. Is it his fault the media followed him like the paparazzi following Princess Diana? Sure other teams have devout Christians on their team, but you never see a quarterback. Tebow was the first and as such, garnered all of of the media circus. That's simply wasn't his fault. The media circled over him, like vultures, waiting for that "gotcha moment" imho.

Thankfully though Tim Tebow's life isn't the NFL. He always had a post NFL goal; to follow in the footsteps of his parents and work in the missionaries overseas and with the money he's made in the NFL, he can do so now and be able to donate time and money to his first love, Jesus Christ.

This is where I disagree with you. Yes, it is his fault. As you said, there are devout Christians on every team. There are, however, none that drop to their knees every time they do something. He's not a stupid kid. He knows the vultures would be there. If he didn't want the attention, he'd wait until he was not in front of them to do his "pose". There's no other way to spin that.

As for him being the first devout Christian QB, how quickly we forget Kurt Warner. Why? Cause he didn't solicit the attention from the media for his faith when he was on the field. He saved it for after the game.

Again, they don't draw attention to themselves on the field for their faith, which is why people are led to believe Tebow is the only one.

Dude 30/32 2TDs and 1 INT, assuming the completions were for an average of 7 Yards each, would be a great day by any QB!

    That a 102 Quarterback rating.

I assume you meant 32 yards total. Not 30 completions in 32 attempts.
