got this delivered today. I like it much more than the New Era 39Thirty I bought last offseason. The size is L/XL but it fits my head much better. It's tighter on top. Now the coloring is not exactly the same as my Tannehill Game Jersey that I just got. The aqua on the hat is brighter as the fabric is shiny. Like a waterproof type fabric on the top of the bill there. The orange is very close to the jersey though. As the fabric is different on that part of the hat. Has more of a flat/no shine appearance. I recommend it, but if you're a stickler for the colors to match the uniform, be warned about that aqua.
In the early 90s drug dealers started wearing flat brim hats to look more dorky and less like drug dealers. Then in the mid to late 90s rappers copied the style to look like drug dealers and have street cred. It spread to urban youth in the early 2000s along with the trend of keeping tags on the hats so they looked new. By the mid 2000s it had spread to white kids trying to look like urban youth. So it's basically been a wide spread trend for the last 6 -7 years or so.
Just found this... must be new: http://www.nflshop.com/product/inde...602.2246014&pageType=family&parentPage=family
I suppose that makes sense then. Thanks for the info. I'm a 35 year old white guy originally from West Virginia. I'll never, ever, wear a ballcap with anything other than a traditional curve to the bill. Perhaps Im showing my age, but I could care less, LOL. I think that the "kids" (early 20s or younger) that I see wearing the flat bills are something to just shake my head at.
I wear hats almost everyday and I've never worn one with a flat bill and never will. They look OK on some people but definitely not on me. I still don't understand why people have issues bending brims themselves. I have some fitted hats that come with a flat bill and I bend it to my liking and it looks fine. I don't know what the hell some of you are talking about when you say they aren't designed to be bent. They're designed to do whatever the hell you want with it. You think MLB players get their brand new hats with a curved bill? No, they get them flat and they bend them themselves.
I've been curving flat brimmed baseball hats since I was in Little League. Not rocket science stuff. lol
I love the all white 39 thirty hat I just got from footballfanatics.com but even the L/XL size they say fits 7 5/8-8 is to tight for my fat head. Sigh... I ordered the adjustable one. Hopefully it gets here by fathers day. BTW free shipping code ThanksDad Oh yeah...the bill was already curved. Phew!! That was close.
Slight off topic, but has anyone tried ordering custom Nike iD stuff in the new Phins colors? I was at a Nike store today and they had samples of Green Bay, San Fran and other team color sneaks that looked awesome.
For me personally it started at 16 when my favorite player (dontrelle Willis) for the marlins was killing it (2003-2004) and he wore his hat flat and slightly to the side. I am white. But cool. So suck it trebek. (Not you raf, but the oldies that are gunna talk junk soon)
Not buying this theory. 95% of drug dealers can't help but to be flashy and the center of attention. I seriously doubt that was their motive.
I'm just spit-balling here but I would guess the whole flat billed trend emerged for the same reason that leaving the tags on was a trend, to show-off that you had something new and not a hand-me-down. Even before it was a trend many hats came with a flat bill that needed to be bent by the owner, so a hat with a flat bill was brand new.
You can question the motive, but being arrested repeatedly is a strong disincentive to drawing attention to yourself. And as someone who has worked on the criminal side of the legal system for years, I don't really question the motive. And IIRC that was actually the motive cited by a rapper in '94 in one of his songs. Something about how he wore a flat brimmed hat and round glasses so the cops wouldn't target him as a drug dealer.
definitely like the hat...excited to see if uniforms and helmets will change too. from dolphins-tickets.org
They have the Dolphins too. http://store.nike.com/us/en_us/pw/mens-nfl-miami-dolphins-shoes/7puZbrkZ8qlZ97d
I'd love to see that Roc...... you wearing a brand new flat brim that's been curved..... because i've done it plenty of times and the hat looks ridiculous....... Hold them side by side, ask people which looks better on you, perhaps... a baseball cap is supposed to fit snug on the top of your head..... those flat brims are designed to hold a shape, the cap part itself is taller, and has a flat "face" on the front. Bending the flat brim distorts the shape, and leaves you with a hat you could wear and still stash your wallet, keys, and phone inside. Or to fit it snug to your head, you have to pull it down passed your eyebrows. I have a huge head and still cant pull it off. They are hardly the same, obviously... other wise they would make two totally different types.
We're talking about 59 fifty flat brims, and their design. Not the standard baseball caps that are intended to be curved by the wearer. Sure, they bend..... but you can't deny they look and fit nothing like a normal hat does... I'm looking at a great example right now. Like I said they make 2 types because they are NOT the same !
i also got a nice shirt from my buddy who came back from miami on the weekend as a birthday gift, pretty hard to get the new stuff he said even in miami, can you imagine how proud i am to represent this new logo over here, will post a pic later after work Sent from my iPhone 5 using Tapatalk
Well, I don't bend it to an extreme. Maybe you're picturing me bending it in a really intense way. It's definitely not flat though, and they look fine. I wear them all the time and have never had someone say anything negative about it. I will post pics tomorrow.
Uhhhhhhh??????? Have you been paying any attention at all? The buzz since December has been about the uniform changes coming up. On draft day they unveiled the new uniforms and helmets. I must say that your post is a bit puzzling.
I love that what you do with hats is dress up like a baseball player and have a vacant stare as if nothing in the world has ever registered into your brain.
here it is He bought it at Sports Authority ,North Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
My guess is that they'll lighten the aqua and orange colors on the uniform, and that the helmets will feature a big aqua stripe down the middle. The navy accent will also be lighter, I predict, although some may argue it still looks black. The numbers on the uniform will probably have some crazy detail that Nike likes to pull off, like rounding off one of the edges as a homage to a dolphin fin or something like that.
A little small. I ordered one size up on my Nike shirts and they fit great. A little loose but nothing extreme. Basically, if you like snug shirts, order your usual size. If you prefer a regular or slightly loose fit, get one size up.
