Good afternoon Phins fans! Here's my season preview for you guys Good luck this season! Em
who do you have finishing 2nd in the east? Jamar Taylor and Sean Smith don't have much in common imo.
3rd behind who? You gave yourself a lot of latitude. You've painted us as both the 3rd best team in a weak AFC East division, and a potential playoff team. EDIT: So wait...Stevie Johnson + Two Rookies > Mike Wallace + Brian Hartline + Brandon Gibson?
I know there's a lot of changes that are still unproven but what do you have Buffalo being so tough at this year? Coaches or best FA, draft? Nice clip on the team but I expect better than 3rd.
i dunno man....finishing 3rd ??? really, you mention we were in a lot of tight games last year, could have been in the playoffs if we would have won some of them.....with all the moves we made, you liked them all, you really think the bills or jets will be better ?, not sold on tannehill but apparently more sold on mark sanchez, geno smith or EJ Manuel or Kevin Kolb ?? That really makes no sense
He knows his rosters, but jeez, has he watched a bills game this past decade? They have the as many question marks at QB as the Jests!!! THAT is going to topple Brady and Bellichick? He loses credibility for me there.
i also have read stories about Keelan Johnson but that guy has shown nothing, nada at camp, i´m not sure if he was even mentioned once since he was signed, but maybe when the pads come on he will show something, but still thats a long shot imo, kelcie mccray has a better chance
The craptastic bills finishing 1st in the division? You're trolling bills fans right? Thanks for the vid Em.
we will take the division by storm even Jesus had His detractors would not rule out a SuperBowl this team is the real deal
He criticized RI for flagrant fouls...he had 2 last year?? Is that worth worrying about ?? Bills over NE this year ?? Worried about whether Tanny will improve but not over Sanchize, Manuel, Smith or Kolb?? I like a lot of the moves the Jills have made and I think it'll be a fight between the two of us behind NE in the division. I think the media circus is still going to affect the jests and their cap situation really didn't let them improve much this offseason, so I see them wallowing in the mire of last place, but Bills over NE ?? Really ?? Hmmmm....sounds like a Berman-wannabe....
Yeah, I can't get past the QB w/o no longer taking them seriously as a potential division champ. The ONLY sports team I love more than the Dolphins is FSU so I've had a lot of time to watch EJ Manuel and I just don't see him playing well on the NFL level any time soon. He must be the first QB to ever come out of the draft where people say "well he struggled picking up the offense in college but now that he's in the pros he will do much better..." LMAO. His arm strength is excellent, tremendous size and athletic ability. But his accuracy is consistently bad, even when he has a clean pocket. Pocket awareness is an issue, he's often unnerved at the slightest hint of pressure. He doesn't read, manipulate or anticipate coverages well. Not saying he can't develop into a good QB eventually, but there's a reason a half dozen QB needy teams took a hard look and said no thanks, we'd rather have a slot WR, a DB, an OT or an OG. I refuse to believe that all of that was Jimbo Fisher's fault. And if Kolb is the QB. LOL.
Thanks Gang! I have the AFC East shaking out like this: Bills, Pats, Phins & Jets. In all honesty, I do like the Bills weapons more than you guys' options and that includes the QB position. Fitzpatrick was holding that offense back.
I like Manuel but he is a rookie and not named luck or Wilson ot rg3. Wallace may not be a true #1 but with his elite speed and hartline and Gibsons game, I think they have a true passing weapons with Keller added. Btw, video looks good. Wasn't it a few years ago there was no highlights video and you used quarter machine helmets. Keep it up, thanks
I'm shocked anyone would think that kid could lead them to 4-12. He is terrible NFL material IMO he just lacks nearly EVERY key trait you need at the QB position. This year was as terrible a QB class as last year was amazing.
Ej..at 6'5 240 the stature is there, the platform for which he throws is wide and nice, his release is fast and compact, his spiral is tight resulting in a good cylinder action for the receiver, his arm strength is there to make every throw, has some good athletic ability to function a option zone read offense with precision and grace, however it's mostly off the first read where he looks the part, he looks real nice in his mechanics when his first option is there for the taking..it's after that where I begin to worry. He's athletic and can run when it's available, but I don't see a quick enough perception to evade pressure and engage his athletic ability, he mostly tends to delay that engagement to get a throw off, and usually it gets him in trouble, because it's too late, which results in not having enough time to change his platform to get off a good throw or not enough time to escape..Guys like Kap, Wilson, RG, and Luck have a better, quicker trigger in their head to see the trouble, deek the trouble, create space, reset, and make a throw downfield..now on occasion he makes moves to get away from pressure, but their usually not of the difficult variety. The ability I talked about previously with Kap, Luck, RG and Wilson is not there imo, that patience to see it peripherally, engage that athletic talent at the right time, and become a natural playmaker, is not prevalent enough to put him in that last years class. At this point, I think EJ looks at the field in sections not as a whole, which isn't unusual for a rookie, but in college I thought he was doing it in his senior year.
So you think a journeyman QB who is a prvoen failure, and an unproven rookie reach is better than Tannehill and Matt Moore? The only weapon that Buffalo has that is better than ours is Spiller.
No I'm saying EJ is better than Tannehill and the Bills have better receivers and offensive line than you guys. Just one man's opinion but I feel better with what they have on offense than you guys
Ok, I can respect that, I like their receiver group, oline is about a push I guess, we'll have to see about the qbs, nothing wrong with sticking to your analysis, but to say they will win the division this year?, that's some conviction on a rookie Qb new coach and a whole new staff.
Buffalo still has a highly questionable defense. A completely unproven QB, a shakier OL (Woods is always hurt, who replaces Levitre? Cordy Glenn is miscast as a LT and I have durability questions about him. And whose the RT? Hairston? Please.). Oh and they got a college coach. Outside of Harbaugh....guys with no NFL exp tend to fair poorly. There is no way they finish first in the division. If your still questioning Tannehill you couldn't have watched him close enough. Out of those 13 INT. 10 came in 4 games (2 3int games). Final 6 games he had 2. 7 games of 90 QBR or higher. Considering Miami was playing with easily the bottom 5 WR group and a leaky OL AND a running game that did poorly on first down....I am amazed at what he pulled off. He was sharp, excellent vs the blitz. Great poise for someone who STILL has played less games then most QB's who finish their college career. He basically came in without much support and held his own. I am looking forward to seeing what he does. Miller doesn't get stuffed like Reggie does, valid pass catching TE and doesn't have to rely on Hartline/Bess who while solid dependable catchers...struggle to separate and had little after the catch. Wallace has 32 TD's the past 4 seasons. Hard to argue that. Gibson is going to be tough for a nickleback to contain at his size.
EJ hasn't even played a game, not to mention Kolb is getting most of the reps for Buffalo, and you are saying he's better than Tannehill? I'm not a homer but I'd take a second-year Tannehill over first-year Manuel who'll be on the bench anyday. Better receivers? Maybe n the developmental department I guess. You have Johnson who is a good receiver, Woods route running is exceptional and has speed (BEWARE the USC WR curse though), Graham who is speedy and that's about it, Goodwin is also speedy but small, and I don't know anyone else unless you think Rogers; Bills fans are even saying that may be a longshot. That's one established receiver starting with an average second-year player and two rookies, but there is a chance at least one of them is good (Woods) as all players are not. Don't see how you take that over Wallace's deep-threat ability 8 TD per year average, Hartline's reliability and recognition as a solid #2, Gibson's athletic ability and knack for getting 1st downs, Matthews starting to develop into a nice receiver (Hartline's eventual replacement imo), and Binns' height and versatility. Don't let me bring TE's into the picture as it'll be pretty lopsided. The potential is there, IF Rogers makes the roster, but I still wouldn't see how their receivers are better than ours. I'll give you the offensive line but if I was a QB I'd take Miami's receivers.
This. Who's replacing Sheppard? Who's starting opposite of Gilmore? Who's replacing a pretty good Wilson opposite of Byrd? Anderson at DE? I'll give them the fact that they have one of the better DC's in Pettine but that defense won't be all that.
So ill see you back here if EJ isn't starting come week 1. To say he is better than Tannehill at this juncture is a little absurd. I guess receivers can still be up for debate though since ours mostly have not played a down together. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Sorry, but EJ Manuel? Really? Dude could not handle the big games at FSU because the defenses were too fast and complex for him. Now he will be great in the NFL? Wow. Don't buy it sorry. MAYBE ... and that is a HUGE Maybe he will develop. I just don't see it. Wrs, ok I can accept that opinion. Don't agree with it, but can accept it. RBs, definitely more proven. Oline? eh... again we don't have world beaters, so maybe. Defense? Not even close. Buffalo could not stop ANYONE last year. They won't become a division winning Defense in one year. Buffalo could be on the rise IF they get decent QB play. However, not going to win the division this year.
I'm assuming Diggy is unbiased and not a bills fan. So saying this, I think that the production value was awesome, you're very good on camera, knowledgeable, and overall it was great. I can see you looking for that gem of a prediction. But banking a forecast on the Bills is the weak link in all of this. And not even so much verse the Dolphins as the Pats. EJ and Kolb are going to slay brady and BB? Pick a different mine to pull that gem from. Good stuff otherwise. Very nice job.
They did beat us last year in that stretch where Tannehill was garbage (2nd half Indy - Tenn - Buff). Not an unreasonable position to say that Buffalo's quality skill players were held back by their QB, and that a dynamic signal caller will give them better opportunities; don't we say similar things about Tannehill's supporting cast being the reason he threw only 12 TDs? (I'd take Buffalo's skill guys over ours if given the option, fwiw--but I realize I'm higher on Stevie than most.) I think both teams benefited from really soft schedules last year, have front 4s that can & should dominate, questions in the secondary, and QBs who have yet to produce at a high level. Don't think Buffalo will finish ahead of us, personally, but I see your points and like hearing something other than how awesome and playoff-bound we are.
What makes you say that? Manuel hasn't won the job, he hasn't even been to an NFL training camp yet much less proven himself to be a better QB than Tannehill. Ditto at the WR position, they have Stevie and two rookies as their main guys. Miami has proven guys in Wallace, Hartline and Gibson, Binns was a starter in Cincy before he ran afoul of the staff and Matthews seems to be a guy who will do fine as a 4th or 5th WR, perhaps more. And I honestly don't think the OLs are even close. Just one man's opinion as you say but we have dominated the LOS on both sides vs Buffalo for the past several years. I don't see that changing this year but we'll see what happens.
I don't even think Buffalo believes they will be 1st in the division. This opinion piece feels like a slap in the face lol....
