I hope most of you know what I am talking about. In elementary school everyone learned how to draw this(all the cool kids were doing it!)
I remember not knowing if it was an s or an 8 because it kind of looked like both.
That **** was everywhere, and today I saw a decal with the S thing.

    My first thought was:

"Oh I remember those, I didnt know they were still popular!"
and a few second later "why did we draw that? what did it mean?"

Unfortunately the internet has only led me to people asking the same damn questions.
Maybe you guys actually know what the hell it is?

Hmm, sort of looks like one of the symbols for infinity/eternity.

Not an "S" but a never ending series of turns w/no beginning or ending.

Suzuki (Japanese car and motorcycle manufacturer) ran a contest for a sleeker logo design I believe in '91 or '92. It was one of the early examples of crowd sourcing. The drawing in the opening post is an example of one of the finalists. In a sense, the drawing went viral. It looks pretty cool and is easy to draw. Most likely, kids had no idea what they were actually drawing. Suzuki ultimately decided on a different logo

Contest Winner: As you can see, the only real change was going from the red to a 3D metal look.
