If we are going that route you could just as easily say Bosh IMO he stepped up big time on defense and secured the rebound that even made that shot possible.

Spurs are going to be ready to play but if the Heat can stay plastered to Green and Neal on the outside again, Duncan doesn't have it in him to have that kind of game again. Can Parker beat James' defense? He couldnt tonight. Meanwhile, Lebron in the 4th quarter broke whatever voodoo pork fried glamor mindfvck that Boris Diaw put on him that made him so tentative facing Diaw for most of the game.

The difference was Wade was out of the game. An extra shooter on the floor leaves the lane open for lebron.

That makes no sense. Occam's Razor says that the most obvious explanation is probably the correct one, and the most obvious explanation is that Greg Popovich hid pork bouillon in Lebron James' headband before the game so that Boris Diaw would be on him like...like Boris Diaw on anything that smells like pork. Lebron realized the plot and ditched the headband in time to execute C:\L_James\Finals\4Q\Cobra_Dick.exe. It's the only explanation that makes any sense.

    Coach Spo is a genius.

You think it was a coincidence that Bosh had zero fouls and Duncan had 5 FT's? You think it was a coincidence that The Spurs Three point shooters got ****, and Duncan then faded in the second half?

    Spo plays Chess.

Do it again Dare him to score 40 and try to win. Tonight he had 30 and 17, then got Joey and crew try to rig them the game for them in the 3rd, and it still was not enough.

    I like my coach.

What was it that Chris Bosh said "Let's ee how he shoots it with somebody always on him, he won;t be open tonight." Next time Chris, don't reveal the game plan in an interview.

Pop is a genius. BUT! After Allen made that 3 he instantly jumps up and yells is it a 3 so the refs look at it. Very smart thing to do. He got an extra timeout!BUT! HE then puts Duncan back in the game, which is illegal and the refs let him get away with it.

Had Green made that last 3, the game would have been a sham....

Is it time to give Wade extended rest? I'm not sure that Wade, in his current state is helping the team on the court.
-15 again. I get what Section wrote, but Spolestra potentially cost us a chance at game 7 to make his HOF talent feel good. We were rolling with Lebron, Anderson, Miller, Chalmers and Allen and as soon as Wade entered the offense stagnated and our intensity on D died. Not to mention the two horrible fadeaway shots that Wade bricked.

My question is, do you sit Wade? I'm not talking an all out benching as we have the 2013-2014 season to think about, but do you go with what has proven to work this series? Lebron is clearly the alpa dog now - Give him some space to run the offense, put in some high energy guys that can shoot and defend at the same level.

Never thought I would say this but I really like Bill Simmons now. The guys has done a total 180 on me after his hateful rhetoric after the decision.

Van Gundy- While I respect his analysis, he has NEVER seen a foul against the Heat that was a foul, and every questionable foul the Heat commits is clearly a foul to him. The Heat got clobbered all night and he kept siding with the refs, however at the end when the very same plays don't get called in favor of San Antonio, he is livid and immediately points out how the Heat fouled. The funniest one was the takedown of Bosh by Duncan where he said Bosh flopped as Duncan grabbed him and threw him down WWF style.

This. So much this. I'm floored by it. I can't believe in an elimination game of the NBA Finals the officiating crew would make such a completely non-subjective, rulebook-related oversight. I mean this isn't "Was it a charge or a block?" These are procedural rules. This is like letting a guy take three free throws on a non-shooting foul when the team isn't in penalty yet. It's the rules of the damn game. Popovich made the decision to take Duncan out of the game during a crucial moment and he was only forced to live with half the consequences of that mistake.

Unless I'm mistaken? Seems like a huge oversight to me.

That's fickle. Have the Heat looked better with Wade on the bench?? I think so, but that opens up a Pandora's box that could create an even if you win you lose circus like offseason.

Plus Wade showed in game 4 he is capable of looking like an All Star at times. But I can totally see the difference in the tempo w/o Wade on the floor. And that stupid hero shot at the end??? One of thee stupidest thing a player has done on the court in a long time.

The shot would have been forgiveable, if it came about five seconds more into the clock. I understand the guy is hurt, but that play was just dumb. The flip side is if he dials back into the Wade from game 4 San Antonio is toast for the series. Spoelstra does need to consciously take advantage of the spacing the Lebron/Big/Shooters lineup is giving us though. The Spurs don't seem to have an answer for that grouping.

I think you've got to let Dwyane Wade play himself out of this. Imagine where we'd be if he didn't go off in Game 4. Sitting him on the bench doesn't do him any good because it just gives his knee a chance to go cold and lock up on him. Playing keeps it loose.

If you've got a compelling reason to keep him off the floor, then so be it. Stringer brought up that having three shooters with Lebron emptied the paint and let Lebron get back on track. But you have to think of the situation. The Spurs were leading and the quickest way for a team to get back into the game is 3 point shooting, because...math. It seemed to me like the approach to Lebron during that time was very unlike what Pop established even going back to 2007, because of the situation and their being scared of the sharp shooters getting the Heat back into the game too quickly.

When they start another full game against the Heat, I don't see Pop doing that again. Even with an extra shooter on the floor they'll still keep Lebron out of the paint. So we'll see if that lineup can still be as effective.

They had the same Lebron + Big + 3 shooter lineup on the floor in game 2 when they went on that crazy 33-5 run. Admittedly a small sample size but having watched both runs that lineup seems to shred San Antonio's defensive plans for the series. If they respect the shooters Lebron gets single coverage in the low post which is disastrous. If they help Lebron will find the open shooter for a quality three shot. Can't use it all the time, but I will be severely disappointed if it isn't pulled back out in game 7.

Personally I feel Ray Allen should play more over DWade.

I suspect a part of the problem with Wade is if you let him sit, his knee stiffens up on him.

He needs to handle that..wonder if it's a microfracture?

Wish last night had been a game seven. Beyond the obvious that we would have won it all, could you imagine how epic a closout that would have been in a series decider?

I realize it hurt the Spurs in Game 2 as well, I'm just saying that I think Pop will adjust for it, and probably already has in fact, but the situation last night being up by 10 probably forced him to set aside the adjustments. In a Game 7 situation, I don't see Pop coaching conservative.

I'm no doctor, but my understanding is that basically a bone bruise IS a micro fracture. That's why it can only heal with rest.

Speaking from an outside perspective here for a minute, for those in the "give Wade less minutes" category, just stop. First off it is Dwyane Wade, you ride him until the riding is done, he has earned it. The guy at 75% is still better than Miller, or whomever they would play in his place....You play the guys that got you there and and see it out. Spo isnt going to suddenly turn him into a bench playing role player.....I will say that is THIS year, which ends after the next game...This conversation will no doubt be brought back up after the beginning of next year if he tails off.....

The Spurs also had a problem chasing Ray Allen around the court in Game 5 toward the end when they were protecting a big lead. You knew the score and clock were such that the Heat were going to be doing everything they could to get Miller and Allen open behind the arc. The Spurs were so focused on not letting that happen that there was all kinds of space and opportunity down low, even for Ray Allen who was being chased like a rabbit to the three point line so hard that he had penetration opportunities that even he could finish.

I just don't see that happening again because it's Game 7 and even if they have a lead late, Popovich isn't going to coach like they have one.

I think Dwyane Wade is injured, not finished. He's getting up in years so his knees seem like they're hurting during every playoffs, but that doesn't make him done. He was a big part of the Heat's 27 game win streak and the run they made from January all the way up until the Eastern Conference Finals.

Agreed. Wade is definitely having some knee pain and coupled with the fact that he doesn't like to get shots, he's going to be playing through pain at the end of the season. No way you can say he is done. D Wade is still a top SG in this league, first ballot HOFer, and a guy any coach would want out there day in day out. How many other players can be a defensive monster and elite scorer like Wade? Not many.
