Reason 942 I love the preseason.

My wife always asks "why are you still watching? the starters arent in!"

"Women! This is our future! You never know who will emerge as a hall of famer, that wasnt even drafted....now make me a sammich!"*

So, he wants to be better than Gates. That guarantees a whole lot of nothing.

Who said it guaranteed anything? It's the offseason, and it's a story about our rookie tight end, comparing himself and striving to be one of the greats.

Did you want something in writing, saying he will be a hall of famer?

It's fluff. I'd guess Jordan wants to be the next Jason Taylor too. Jamar Taylor wants to be the next Patrick Surtain. Will Davis wants to be the next Sam Madison, etc etc.

At least he's aspiring to be the next Antonio Gates and not the Next Aaron Hernandez :shifty:

I already made it in the previous post. Sims can want to be whomever he pleases. Want in one hand and sh!t in the other and see which one fills up the fastest. Am I wrong? He can want to be John Mackey or Mike Ditka, Gates, or any other great TE all he wants. Unless he goes out on the field and proves worthy of any such comparison, talking about it is all bleh to me.

It's not even training camp. Your acting like egnew said this. Jesus.

If Egnew said it, I'd say he's from Missouri, so he has to "Show Me". :)

Actually, I see no difference which one said it. Sims can want to be as good as Gates, and Egnew could want to be as good as Graham. Talk is cheap. "Show me."

My point is he can't show you yet. It's not even training camp. What else is he going to say at this point? "I hope I have a decent career like Troy drayton"

Perhaps saying he preferred to wait and show us on the field, rather than make comparisons to All Pros now?

I think I'll go on walkabout, and clear my head a bit. Have a nice day. :)

I like Sims more than the other potential #2s we have that I've watched. I haven't watched the kid that Congemi said stood out. That being said I don't have a real high ceiling for Sims. I put his ceiling at about Fasano's level.

Well pretty much every TE is at the moment.

I love Gates but if I was him I'd of hung it up after last season.

I like when a young player states that he wants to be as great as one of the best, it puts them on notice, applies personal pressure to train to succeed, and when I know I can get a guy with talent to train at their craft, I'll take that sh@&.

    I'm with Mr.C.

Some of you say it's not even training camp yet, so how can he show us. That's exactly the point. It's not even Training camp yet. He can be the next Egnew. After a great season then start talking about the greats. Make it to camp first. Make it through camp first. Start some games first.

What he said is harmless but at the same time, why say it. Prove it.

Did Tannehill say he wants to be better than Dan Marino? I don't remember him doing so.

    This is horse ****.

There is not a damn thing in the world wrong with a player saying he's striving to be like one of the best.

I clearly stepped into some kind of crazy world. From now on, any player that says they want to be like Great Player X should either be kicked from the team or killed on site. How dare they!!!!!!!

It's not about whether a kid wants to strive to be one of the best, I would think to get to the level any of these guys are (UDFAs or drafted rookies) they have to already have that drive inside them. I'm glad he's proclaiming he wants to be the next Gates, but he's not yet and has a long, long way to go. When he actually starts to show that, then I'll get excited. So far, he hasn't had the opportunity to show anything. I would be disappointed if he didn't want to be the best....but there isn't much reason for excitement in late June about a guy (or any other guy) that no one other than his team mates and the staff have seen him even on the field... I don't recall his name being bantered about by the media folks that had access to a day or two of OTAs and minicamp that he was extraordinary ?? Yes, I believe his name was mentioned by the one or two of the media, but none of them said he was Gates-like ??

It's certainly not about Mr C. being grumpy, although that could have been the case (I didn't get that impression), it's about what OUR expectations are of this kid without seeing anything yet... I'm saving my excitement until I see something definitive...

No one was excited about it. It was just fluff piece from the team so we'd have something else to read while waiting for camp. No one took it as more than that, then people came on and started downing the guy because he wants to be one of the greats...its effing ridiculous.

Its a ****ing team interview from miamidolphins.com

They said "hey man, who do you want your game to resemble?"

is he supposed to say "no comment" to his teams official page?

He mentioned 2 of this generations greatest tight ends (gonzo and gates) Who else is he gunna mention? Randy McMichael?

Some of you guys are ridiculous.

he's basically saying his idol is Gates and he wants to be better..For him to think he could get to that point without working incredibly hard to do so would be stupid as hell, I don't think he's stupid as hell, so don't you think we're gonna get a young player that is cognizant of work ethic and training for the craft??.... That's exactly what that quote tells me, we should all join his tweeter account, and remind him of what he said..

That's a great idea, lets follow all our players and drop dimes of caculated information on them to inspire..
