For Heat fans...strong word is that the Heat will go to bat to keep Birdman, and that Ray Allen is likely to opt in for next season at his reduced rate (DISCOUNTED!)
I don't give a crap about people hating the Heat. Fans are allowed to hate opposing teams for unreasonable reasons. I'm talking about the media. Also, the case was argued here earlier that the supposed Heat Hate was just a fabrication of Heat fans. That was the original argument. No one is arguing and asking for everyone to love the Heat. In fact most of us like other fans hating us. Our gripe is against the media who have spearhead a zealous campaign against the Heat, a self serving campaign i might add, when they should be more rational and impartial.
If you can pawn off Tyson and Ray, get a core of Melo, Shump, Wes Matthews, Copeland, and bench pieces, and then turn Amare into somethign good, that can free up cap space for a GOOD free Agent. That is a damn good team if you ask me...55 wins again I say, and a team more adept for success.
From that POV yeah the media should be rational and impartial. But they also know everyone loves hating a bad guy so theyre painting the Heat as a bunch of bad guys to drum up ratings. I definitely question the ethic-less decision but as a hater I also dont feel a lot of sympathy for the team
Felton is gonna be SOOOOOOOO pissed if he gets dealt again lol. I actually like him but yeah Id move him if the price was right. Mathews would be an excellent bench scoring option. What do you think of Tyreke as a 1? Im wondering if the Knicks are thinking that he and Shumpert share the PG duties because I know the Knicks are having Shump work in summer league games as a PG. Im thinking they may look to get another combo guard such as Evans and try that. I like the idea because I love having a tall backcourt. I think it creates a ton of bad matchups and in that case alleviates the fact that the Pacer guards and Bulls guards KILLED NYK on the glass all year and in Indy's case in the playoffs as well. Im wondering if we do some kind of S&T with JR. he opted out of his deal today but the NYK can void the last year of Kurt Thomas' deal and be below the cap apron to do a S&T. Normally I wouldnt tinker so much with a 55 win team but this team caught a LOT of breaks along the way. they had injuries as well but they also caught at least a half dozen teams on nights when key players were out I felt this was a 48-50 win team at the start of the year and if they stay as is, I think they fall in to that range.
There's little chance the Birdman leaves. Doesn't Denver owe him money for next year as well? We've got Pat Riley, the MVPnis!
I have zero problems with your hate. You're a Knicks fan, you're suppose to hate the Heat. The anger goes towards the media who have been baton-bearers of the "Hate the Heat" parade for their own self serving interests.
And capitalizing on bonehead moves like taking out Roy Hibbert in the final 2 seconds of a game that wins you the series?? In all honesty NY needs to make some critical improvements to beat a year better Paul zgeorge and Indiana.
As a Knick fan I'm in no hurry to deal Felton unless we upgrade the PG position...he is much better than ole Pablo on a lot of fronts and was just about the only Knick taking it to the rack vs Indiana. Hibbert just made Chandler and Bosh look like overpaid bums. But I would still not be opposed to dealing Tyson IF it meant a great return. Sure as hell not a Tyreke Evans.
Chandler will go wherever they'll pay that contract. Dude is in it for the dollar dollar bills, yall.
I like Evans as a #2. He is a weak ballhandler against pressure. But he is athletic, can defend, and is still developing. the key is to get rid of as much salary while bringing in good options to use one salary slot on a starter. Marcin Gortat in a trade makes sense as well.
Get real. The Heat murdered the Pacers in both pivotal games 5 and 7. They took two blowouts when it was on the line and could only win fixed games. You saw the series, right? Oh and, if Hibbert was in, and he leaves Bosh, Bosh has a dunk as he was cutting toward the basket, a little mentioned fact, that the hating *** media ignored. Another case in point. Nevermind that the Pacers hit a miracle three to tie it late, and nevermind that they got a phantom three shot foul, and Nevermind that the Heat win the game at the ****ign buzzer with a LAYUP!. NO. the NARRATIVE is that Roy ****ing Hibbert was not in on the last play, when he was never in ALL YEAR in switching situations.. ANOTHER CASE IN POINT.
I think because height is such a valued commodity in the nba we would get more then just tyreke evans back though I think he alone is probably a better player going forward. Very few players have their best season as rookies and hes in a bad situation in Sacramento. His FG% improvement this year was considerable and worth mentioning because hes a uniquely talented player. Aside from cp3 there arent many pgs available of a starting caliber which is why the nyk are having shump get PG reps. Its possible that on opening nightvwe see a shumpert/evans backcourt. I think something along the lines of what I mentioned earlier wouod be a possibility if we moved Tyson. Hes overpaid but hes also won dpoy in 2012 and all 1st team defense in 2013. Hes going to carry legit value and someone will overpay for him.
Amare might be able to get you Nic Batum. Shump/Augustine Evans Batum Melo Collection of bigs Specialist defenders Shooters I'm not sweating..but I do wipe my brow to check.
Key team to watch....Memphis. They want a back court player. Can the Knicks use Amare to send him to Memphis so they can pawn him off for their guy..Knicks get the good scraps, as in rotation players and cap space? That alone improves the team drastically.
I like the batum scenario better. Also like the idea of dallas landing no one this offseason and maybe moving dirk since his inside/outside game compliments carmelo probably better then anyone else in the league. Id settle for batum tho. Good night.
Artest dropped a tweet thanking the fans for his time in L.A. And says he has some news. Either A: he is being weird again and is opting in B: he is opting out to try and get a longer team deal over the last year of his current deal (at a reduced price, obviously) Or most likely, C: Lakers told him they are using the amnesty clause on him. Seems silly to use the amnesty on Artest considering he is an expiring K, but I am also not responsible for paying twice his salary either, so it is easy for me to say.
In all of NBA playoff history, not just the Finals, no team has ever attempted fewer free throws in a seven-game series than Miami’s 118 against San Antonio. Saw this on realgm and had to lol was obvious watching though. Also not to mention this heat team had 2 players who are in the top 5 for most free throws taken in a single playoff run. I think the biggest factor to this was that bosh got 0 calls the whole playoffs.
Yeah, thats basically what I said and its true. Is it fair? Not really but it is reality, no one cares outside of Heat fans if they win. If they lose everyone loves it. Honestly I think its good for your team, keeps a chip on their shoulder, something to keep them focused but who knows.
Not trying to be reasonable, just honest. I think I represent a lot of people out there and listening to the gripes from the Heat fans on here I think I have hit on exactly what is reality with the media and fans outside of the Heat. No one cares about this team if they win, everyone wants to watch them lose. Its kind of unprecedented but it is what it is.
Ok so you think Lebron is better than Jordan and Majic already, I don't, that doesn't mean I hate him or his fans.. I do believe that everyone is out to hate in Miami when they get a chance, when the fans left early that was on every outlet possible..It's the aura of Miami, if you ain't there, then hate on them..that goes for the dolphins as well.
Thank god. Everyone keeps talking about finding the right big man for the team and I couldn't help but keep thinking...didn't they already do that?
I've been interested in this one. Lots of chatter, but I'm curious whether the interest is real or just a story.
I love reading about potential offseason moves for the Knicks. The past few years they have always seemed just a few moves away from setting themselves up for a Miami-NY ECF.
Do we have the bullets to keep Birdman? I can tell he liked it here, but someone might offer him $$$ after his run with us. He has the feel to me of one of those guys that needs the right environment. On our team he thrives. I think he goes to a less cohesive team and you get an entirely different player.
By my tally the Heat were 56-11 since Birdman showed up (0.836) and 26-12 (0.684) before he showed up. I don't know how much I would be in a hurry to start picking up other big men including Greg Oden, as opposed to just trying to keep the Bird. Also it's amazing how that 3 point shot by Ray Allen may have changed the Heat's fortunes. That shot doesn't go down, the Heat lose the championship and Ray Allen likely leaves. That shot drained, they win the championship, and Ray Allen sticks around to try and get another one.
I think what's important is that he feels the love from the fans and he feels like he has a place on this team which does some pretty incredible things. The city definitely embraced him. Just feels like the right environment for a personality like him.
Does Mickey Arison stepping down from Carnival impact ability to pay into luxury taxes to keep the Big 3 together after 2014?
He's still Chairman of the Board and owns all the same stock. He just stepped down as CEO, which I think was more stress related than anything else as Carnival has had a tough 18 months, with the Concordia disaster, the poop ship and a few other high profile problems. Probably best for the company for some fresh leadership in light of the bad publicity, though those problems had almost nothing to do with Micky or his stewradship of the company. Just some bad luck that all seemed to come at once.
Cavs have a big decision to make Thursday - take the 7 footer with knee problems or take the 7 footer with stress fractures in his ankles. Cleveland!
