The whole thing is down to who was the initial aggressor, not as in who initiated the confrontation, but who initiated the use of force, which then escalated to the banging of the head and eventually the shooting. Whoever is first deemed to have applied excessive force is the guilty one.

If Martin started the physical altercation so that Zimmerman could not retreat, and Zimmerman was getting his head banged against the concrete before he shot Martin, Zimmerman walks.

If you see something say something ;). Its not if you see something make sure something comes out of it or your a racist!

On top of this desperate attempt to portray Zimmerman as some raging racist maybe Martin took the opportunity to teach that "creepy cracker" a lesson. ( his words thank you "Dee Dee")

    And?

Yes we do know it as a fact. It is a fact Zimmerman gave chase. We hear it in the phone call. We know Martin ran.

    You're wrong.
Getting out of your car and chasing someone is a threat by act and being armed is means he had the ability to do violence. Anyone who says that wouldn't create a reasonable fear in someone is flat out a liar with an agenda.

The gun is of consequence considering its an actual weapon and it was used to kill someone and helps define Zimmeramn's actions as assault....the tea was not. Sigh.

Race is an important issue in this case, considering the history of the Sanford police and the fact that there was no trial when a black kid was shot and killed even though the investigating officer thought there should be.

Let's also stop pretending that the knee jerk reactions are solely from the Zimmerman is guilty side.

That's still fear. And besides, we know Martin didn't do anything wrong to be scared of that.

Which is my take on what happened, the only thing I'm unsure about is whether there was an actual "chase" or if Zimmerman stayed in his car and Martin just took off running that being when "he lost him".

What FinD is not quite grasping is even if there was a foot chase, the law only permits citizens to use the same level of force as they are presented with, so a threat for example does not mean one can then shoot someone. Neither does a punch to the jaw mean one can then shoot someone, the only ones permitted to escalate force are LEO's.

A threat while armed is the part you're forgetting.

And if you still want to argue it, then it goes for Zimmerman too. We've all seen photos from Zimmerman's injuries that night, they aren't even close to life threatening. They also do not show someone's head being repeatedly beat against the concrete. In no way is shooting someone dead who gave you minor scratches meeting force with equal force.

I'd love to hear from a doctor about those injuries. Were they caused by blows against the pavement, or were they caused by scraping the back of the head on concrete or debris while they were wrestling? Unless I know the answer to that question, and unless I can rule out blows against the pavement, I have a reasonable doubt and I can't vote guilty.

    Look at the third photo:

    http://t.mediaite.com/mediaite/#!/e...mans,4fb581f173ce425113fb3398/media/3,dsc0077

Why is there no swelling or hematomas, as you'd expect to see when there's blunt trauma? I have to think that there's expert testimony coming about those injuries.

There are pics of his actual injuries floating around, below the crown of the head on the backside of his skull.

This got NBC into hot water as they claimed he had no injuries, iirc they further edited his 911 call to make it seem like he was no doubt a racist.

He was legally armed irrc it was concealed at that, Zimmerman claims he shot Martin b/c when Martin was on top of him he felt the pistol and was trying to grab it.

He also had a broken nose, which is also consistent with Martin on top, punching him, or at least that Martin did in fact punch him.

    zimmerman shouldn't have followed.
martin should have called the cops on zimmerman or walked away.
Part of the problem with rocking a gun, is it escalates the situation drastically. Zimmerman should have known better and as such reacted more calmly and waited for the cops to show up.

Soon after it happened, one news channel spoke to the girl and she said Travon told her he was being followed, and if the guy kept it up he (Travon) would f*** him up. I'm sure both parties have that taped conversation. I think it was Orlando's channel 6 that reported it.

Those are completely minor scratches. There is nothing about the those injuries that are life threatening or show a life threatening action occurred.

The legality of the gun is not in question and has nothing to do with what happened. By your own point, a shooting someone dead is not the same force as being punched in the face.

I was under the impression he had a broken nose? The degree of injuries can be misleading.

This lady got pummeled by an intruder twice her size. Best up and thrown down stairs. She had a concussion and got stitches in her mouth.

    http://youtu.be/KjRbndPaKSc

Zimmerman being of bigger/equal size would have had the ability to fight better than she, so a broken nose and stitches are believable.

FWIW I am sick of both sides on this case, and the media. The Travon defenders are screaming race and that Zimmerman didn't stand down (he had no duty to stand down), the media blew this guy up because they could spin it into a juicy story, and they've been less than honest and impartial about it (Anderson cooper I'm looking at you). And the Zimmerman defender need to understand that situations with claims of self defense where firearms are involved have a high potential to end up in court. This case SHOULD be thoroughly reviewed, and I'm not outraged that he's on trial.

I personally fall on the side of, he should be found innocent due to reasonable doubt base on what I know from the case.

Can be misleading is not the same as misleading though. Zimmerman does not have the wounds that match up with what is being claimed.

It was a racial issue. A black kid was shot and killed and no files were charged by a notoriously racist justice system in Sanford, FL. It never would have even gone to trial which is where most agree it should be, if it wasn't for the outrage. And let's not forget that the Sharpton Circus wasn't calling for anything but a trial.

You are delusional, add in the broken nose to the gashes on the back of the head it says what it says.

It is when they are banging your head into the pavement.

His head is cracked open almost to the white meat, if one cannot be impartial that's fine, but don't minimize the fact he has two gashes from the pavement on the back of his head and a broken nose.

I have far better stuff to do then this, my only point is take a look at the actual evidence then decide, there has been more bull**** floating around about this incident then anything I can recall atm.

Stuff like Zimmerman was white, and the ABC saying Zimmerman had no injuries at all etc.

Scratches. Sure don't look like it since they both appear to already be clotting in the pic and you can see they haven't bled all that much.

So he's the racist? She's also a proven liar and a ******. Zimmerman admitted to watching Martin and admitted to stopping at the club house and looking for Martin. If Zimmerman got out of his truck to look for an address Martin could have thought he was following him, even though Zimmerman tells the dispatcher that he lost Martin and these ****ing punks, they always get away.

In short, Zimmerman tells dispatch that he lost Martin. Martin's lying, ******ed friend says that Martin called Zimmerman a "creepy *** cracker" and that this "cracker is following me".

    Somewhat.

Again, listen to the police call. Zimmerman was convinced Martin was guilty even though Martin wasn't doing a single thing wrong. That certainly points to judgements made on appearance of a person and not their actions. Whether those judgments were based on race or age isn't clear, but its certainly a real possibility.

just watched some testimony by a prosecution witness, Mr Goode (sic). He has turned into a major score for the defense because he said Zimmerman was on the bottom while Martin was on top essentially beating on him "MMA style" just before Martin was shot. I take it this witness didnt actually see him get shot as he went to call 911.

He said he was acting wierdly like he was drugged. The color of his skin had nothing to do with it. Martin didnt feel the same way i guess since he thought Zimmerman was a "cracker".

It find it damn funny the media has tried to portray Zimmerman for a year as a racist and young angelic Martin was using racist terms.. Go fig.

I think its patently obvious some wouldn't find Zimmerman guilty no matter what he did. We know for a fact Martin was just walking home from the store and talking his girl on the phone. "Acting weird" isn't a thing.
