Gronkowski isn't healthy though. Even if he's ready for week 1 it'll be after missing all/most of off season workouts and training camp, meaning an increased likelihood that he'll get injured again. My guess is that he'll be PUP while he gets back into football shape, they'll make that sacrifice in order to have him for the later part of the season. Meanwhile Welker is gone, and he's the one they'll miss the most. I'm not all giddy in the least, but there's no way around it- it's ugly for the Patriots right now.
I know it's ugly for them right now and I know Gronk isn't quite healthy yet. I also agree it would be smart to start him on the PUP and wait till week 6 for Gronk, from what I've been reading they are trying for week 1 though. Welker is gone and Amendola seems to always get hurt too. They also have a recent history of poor WR draft picks. It's very ugly when you look at it, but I'm not ready to bet against Brady and Bellichek, I've done it in the past only to see them with the division yet again. I'm very optimistic about this team, I just want to see results first, I feel as though many of our fans feel like the division is ours.
Wow. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/patriots-conduct-aaron-hernandez-jersey-exchange-july-6-193511953.html When did the Pats become an organization that did the right thing?
I was shocked too that was a truly nice thing to do for the fans, did the Falcons do anything like that with Vick or the Giants with Burress? Classy move for once.
I agree, we all want to see the the results but it's only June so there's a ways to go. You're right, there is bound to be some overconfident fans, just like there are some fans with PTSD who refuse to believe the Phins can beat the Pats. I think most fans can sense that for the first time in a long time, there's the opportunity to take the division. On paper Miami has the more talented roster, on the field, the match ups are more in our favor than theirs. The argument for New England has basically been reduced to, "well they have Brady & Belichek". I assure you that Brady and Belichek can wear an *** woopin' just as well as anyone else, provided there's a team with the talent and attitude to give it to them.
Thats awesome of the pats but a smart move. You don't want a murder associated with your franchise so getting rid of the Hernandez jersey is a move in the right direction of removing him.
The interesting thing about that money they may still owe Hernandez is it now pits them in a battle with the families of the slain who will doubtless sue Hernandez for wrongful death. PFT had previously speculated the Pats would withhold the money and hope to get the public on their side to prevent having to pay Hernandez the owed guarantee money. But that won't look so good when the people trying to get the money are the families of the men that were murdered by the man that the Patriots brought to their community.
Little do those fans realize, but the Patriots are planning to sell the AHern jersey's for double the price of a new jersey.
Well...history has repeatedly shown, you get some mitts on Brady's nugget, and it's a whole new ballgame...I seem to recall a quote of Brady's some time ago where it said he really hated playing against the Dolphins D because they could get to him (in effect...not exact words). I can see a split this year...couldn't say that last year.
The hope is a he!! of a good rivalry over the next few years while Tannehill grows up and Brady grows old. And the Jills and Jests continue to suck.
The media narrative is dominated by QB's and coaches, the game is still the game. Mark Sanchez 2012 is the same Mark Sanchez who went to the AFCCG his first two years, beating Rivers, Peyton, Palmer and Brady on his way. The difference is that his dominant defense and run game have disappeared. Alex Smith knocked Brees out of the playoffs in 2012, Kaepernick embarrassed Rodgers and beat Ryan last year. Flacco scored back to back wins over Manning and Brady, after beating Andrew Luck in the wild card round of 2013. Tom Brady's last 5 post season losses have come vs Flacco, Sanchez, Eli Manning, Flacco and Eli Manning. Roethlisberger was dismissed by Tebow in 2012. Luck, Griffin, Ponder, Dalton, Schaub and Wilson tasted the playoffs in 2012, while Romo, Cutler, Brees, Roethlisberger, Newton, Vick, Stafford, Eli and Rivers sat home and watched. QBs get the credit, QBs get the blame, but it's still a TEAM sport, no matter how much ESPN wants to dumb it down.
I believe you read too much into my post. My suggestion was that Miami hopefully now has a QB that can play well and in doing so help the team challenge the top of the division. What do all the QB's you've listed have in common? They could all be mistaken for a QB at one time or another in their career. Phins had noodle arm Pennington, a smart game manager, along with a good defense and run game, and abracadabra they are in the playoffs. Whereas Henne will get you fired (also see BB and the Browns). So I agree its a team game with the understanding that behind most good teams is a good QB. IMHO Sanchez is the exception rather than the rule. The jests 09/10 with a good defense and run game greatly limit Sanchez's responsibilities, the stars align, he has several dropped interceptions (a few by the phins), they recover several of his fumbles, the defense and ST's get a few crazy breaks along the way, and they score more field goals than the other teams. Nowadays with a less dominant D, ST and run game, the turnovers are no longer bouncing their way, they ask Sanchez to do more, he can't and is proven to be a fraud. Again the stars aligned IMHO.
Pretty much. Their offense revolves around Brady being able to make quick throws, if they don't have receivers who can uncover quickly on a consistent basis then the whole equation changes. In our favor. They'll have to run more, good luck with that. Brady will have to hold the ball longer, allowing the pressure to get at him. It'll also mean more down field passing, better opps to make deflections and INTs.
Sorry man, I was talking about Stringer's comment about QBs dominating the game moreso than your post. I agree with you actually. Good stuff.
Yeah, some of this. The families are gonna get all that cash, if found guilty. I am surprised there is not really anything written into contracts that if you are going to be a thug outside the NFL, commit serious crimes and have the law all over your ***, that it nullifies your contract, not a single penny to be handed over at that point. /shrug
No worries. I'm with you on the team thing but the Phins have certainly shown the value of a good QB and coach since the turn of the century. BTW-I should apologize for being so hard on Henne. A rock star compared to Lucas, Rosenfels, Culpeper, Lemon, Green, and Beck. Back to the thread topic. I hear Hernandez is available.
Why so many posts about one single player that isnt a Dolphin? Got to ask. If it was Brady then maybe but Hernandez isnt even the No1 TE for the Patriots. I posted 1 post on this and that was about OUR LB's covering TE's. I dont get the hype over one player that in all seriousness doesnt deserve the coverage. I couldnt give a rats a** about the Pats financial status regarding releasing that no-mark. So many posts doesnt warrant the overhype.
hes a number 1 TE on any team not named the Patriots. He was one of the better TE in the league. If you don't give a rats *** then why open this thread?
Its a slow time for football news so more emphasis will be put on this. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Pretty interesting the reports out of the locker room talking about how the guy was a loose cannon and douchebag..guess Belicek and company couldn't balance the locker room...that patriot was has some serious holes when you can't detect the signs of a killer or wanna be blood... How does noone notify someone that the guy went out and got a blood tattoo in his hand while he was with the patriots...lol..dumasses
Any discussions about Hernandez as a free agent or playing in the league anytime soon are distractions from his main concerns as a human being right now. His life and freedom are at stake and the lives of others that he may have impacted with his behavior are the focus. Serious implications for all involved. Any discussion about him being a free agent or playing in the league right now seem trivial.
