Has it been rumored what the Cavs will offer? I thought it was a 2 or 3 year deal but never got an idea of money involved. I'm just wondering what the difference would be between the two offers.
Right but regardless he won't be hurting for cash. He could come here on a 1 or 2 year deal to prove he's back, have no pressure on him and possibly win a title or two. If cash is that important to him I think we can live without him.
I know he isn't hurting for cash. But you made it seem like there was no benefit to playing in Cleveland. There is. He would make more playing there than he would playing in Miami.
I just thought I covered it with the first sentence of taking less to be here. I meant there are no other benefits and only possible pit traps for him there. IMO He might get forced into action he isn't ready for.
I don't know the exact numbers...But I am going off the fact that we have virutally NO Cap room, especially this upcoming season, compared to Cleveland, who has $20+ mil I believe. Stitches or Nomina can chip in, I'm sure they have a better idea than I do.
Varnado is a 4, but can play the 5 in our system. Remember that juwan howard is likely to move into coaching, so there is the roster spot you need
So, Haslem played a good part of the season with a torn miniscus. This guy is one tough bastard... glad he is on the Heat. http://espn.go.com/nba/truehoop/mia...aslem-played-torn-meniscus-needs-knee-surgery
So does the championship bonus salary play into any cap or just come out of the owners pocket? Probably a stupid question I already know the answer to
Hard to say exactly, but a lot better chance of getting endorsement money in Miami. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
That's a load of bull and there's nothing to support that. If anything he'd get held out much longer than actually necessary based on recent history. Counting all 3 rookie contracts and the 3 contracts on the team that aren't fully guaranteed, I believe we have just under $20M in cap room right now assuming this year's cap is the same as last years.
Knicks JR Smith is getting interest from Detroit and Milwakee. Chris Copeland is getting interest from the Pelicans. (A sign and trade for Vasquez - since the pelicans just added Holliday - or Austin Rivers makes some sense) Also found this in the NY Post (which i generally try not to read because its generally awful but ths was in a blog I like and made some sense....) Things are gonna get interesting quickly
It's inevitable that he can sit longer on a team that is a title contender without him than on a team that is paying him bigger money and expects return on it. Even if it isnt true....Cleveland is still....Cleveland.
Breaking from Howard Beck (NY Times): https://twitter.com/HowardBeckNYT/status/351458940921446400 Camby Novak 2014 1st and 2nd for Andrea Bargnani (2 years left at 22.5M + 5% trade kicker)
Yep this looks like its happening...63M committed to Stat, tyson, melo and bargnani for 2013. Take that Miami Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA 17s Toronto is finalizing agreement to send Andrea Bargnani to Knicks for Marcus Camby, Steve Novak and 2016 first-round pick, sources tell Y!
Pray for a brother. The only saving graces are that this deal has to be done tonight prior to free agency for cap purposes and that Barngani's salary comes off the books a year earlier then Novak's so it clears out 2015 save for Felton's option and a team option on Hardaway Jr. The other thing I just realized is the 2016 first is one Denver owns the rights to flip picks on so even if the Knicks sucked that year they wouldnt have the benefits
I think thats a bit overstated. Maybe the worst starter....it needs some sort of qualifier because Im sure they are way worse players.
It might be slightly overstated but he was pretty freakin awful last year. 3 rebounds for a guy 7.1???? FML.
And so goes the theme for my fav pro sports teams.. Ofcourse lets be honest, Novak took a giant step back last year...I think Stitches could play better defense. It seems that Roy Hibbard has effected a lot of teams and players this postseason.
Bargnani is absolutely one of the worst players in the NBA. First off he has a huge contract. That isn't his fault, but he in no way warrants that $ with his play (when he isn't injured). He is a 7 footer but is an awful rebounder. He can technically spread the floor but he isn't even a good shooter. Maybe being a 3rd or 4th option will be beneficial to him, but there is a reason that Raptors fans have wanted him gone for quite some time. Can't stay healthy, can't hit the three, takes ill-advised shots, can't rebound, mediocre defender. If this trade goes through I pray that Marcus Camby gets minutes in Toronto. Always been one of my favorite players.
Camby returns home, I'm rooting for him also. All I can assume is that the Knicks feel like they can develop him.
It'd be interesting to see if they can - I am just not a Bargs fan at all. Maybe he'll be able to roam the floor and hit the open shot since he won't be a primary option in NY. We'll see if this becomes official. Have to leave this here as well. Please bring back these jerseys and these shoes:
Dissecting this piece by piece... Things good about this trade for NYK fans: - No contracts in 2015. Completely empty. Club option on Felton and Hardaway Jr. Bird rights on Melo, Tyson and Bargnani. Kyrie Irving is a FA. - Short term Bargnani is a stretch 4 and MAYBE they can get hm back to his 18ppg/6rpg stats. - Novak stunk. Got rid of his extra year. - Camby is washed up. Those 2 literally brought nothing past december last season. Things bad about this deal: - Bargnani is the first 7 footer ever to average 28 MPG and average less then 4 RPG. Thats atrocious. He betetr get used to rebounding some of JR (if he stays) and Melo's misses. - More picks traded away. The 2016 was previously an option to be flipped in draft order with Denver as part of the Melo deal. 2 second rounders gone well though I care less about those. Knicks are meeting with JR Smith's family and agent tonight. They need to not compound this by signing JR long term. They need to move Tyson or Stat in the next week (FA starts tomorrow but teams cant sign players til the 8th so time to work a S&T) and get under the luxury tax thresh-hold.
http://www.foxsportssouthwest.com/n...cs-to-talk-about-R?blockID=916505&feedID=3742 Rondo possibly to Dallas? And to pair possibly with Howard? Could you actually have a locker room with those two? Maybe two *******s like this cancel each other out. Crazy to think about that one.
When asked about his lack of rebounds, he *Bargnani* once responded, "It's called basketball, not rebound-ball." True Story.
Sounds like he'll fit right into the Knicks team, this is always the Knicks problem. They seem to make moves just to make moves every off season, they just need a few solid role players. I guess if they can get cap room down the road and sign a big free agent thats nice but really that seems far fetched at this point.
Well this move makes SOME sense from a basketball standpoint. It was just last year (December to be specific) when Bargnani single-handedly DESTROYED both David West and Roy Hibbert. The Knicks badly needed a stretch 4. Bargnani is only a year removed from back to back 21ppg and 19ppg seasons. The problem I have with the trade is this...per realgm:
