Yes, I know this has been discussed a lot and there's been many echoing these thoughts and statements as of late, but this is a pretty good piece and this is something I thought before all of these articles have been coming out. It's an extremely slow time of the year for football news, but I can't get enough of this stuff. Bring it on. Wait, wait..."show it on the field first" comment coming in 3-2-1.

I think the talking heads are reading to much paper and don't understand the Patsies.

They usually are ahead of the curve, meaning, they set records with a wide open passing attack, but won SB's with a heavy running attack, this is why they traded for Blount (whom I think is underrated)

And another over looked thing is they have stocked the Defense with high draft picks, especially in the front 7, they are entering their 2nd/3rd/4th yrs, they won't be the pushovers they have been lately on D

I also think Welker will be replaced by Amendola rather well really, once again being ahead of the curve they also know the "free" yards are currently undervalued, Amendola was a 2k APY player in St Louis.

That is not to devalue our chances as we have the rare commodity of a young and up and coming Qb, which to me is pretty much who are season hinges on, if Tannehill tosses at least 25 Td passes, we probably win the division.

To put 25 Td's in perspective, we have not had a Qb throw for 20 Td's since 2001, we have not had a Qb with more Td's then Int's since Pennington in 08, yet have been competitive.

Thing is AG..I do think the 13 Dolphins Squad, can take the AFCE.

BUT when you watch the Patriots, it's not their physical talent that beats you, it's knowing their job/role better then their opponents do, so losing a guy or two doesn't particularly matter to them.

Are we that well coached? Has the squad bought in so no screw ups like missed FG's, fumbles, dumb penalties?

Yes, there are a lot of idiot sports media people, but I think it's unfair to imply that they are all clueless and fans on a website are somehow more knowledgeable sages with the "real" deep insight on all things football and the Pats. Some are, some aren't.

I like Amendola, but give little Wes some credit. He's been much more productive than Amendola.

See bold part. This is different for reasons mentioned. They didn't exactly plan for Gronk's surgeries nor Hernandez's incarceration. Remember, the top five pass catchers on the Patriots roster will not be on the field for the 2013 season opener.

    Agree with the rest.

Hopefully those wheels start getting rusty.

Tommy B was 7 years younger at that point. :)

Some good points. To me though, I would rather beat the Patriots at their best then think we can take them down because they've weakened. I would like to see the Dolphins become so good at home, that teams instantly lose confidence in going there. And our defense used to be so good at rattling Brady with JT and Zach... I'd like to see that come back this year!

    See Peyton Manning.

I suspect they will be the first "elite" team to start taking advantage of the smaller, quicker defensive styles we will see more and more in the league.

I suspect we split with them this year, but so do the Jets or Bills, opening the door for us to surpass them this year.

The Patriots will remain a dangerous team as long as they have a healthy Brady at QB. That doesn't mean Miami can't get better or can't compete...but the focus needs to be on improving our organization to their level, not hoping they decline to ours. I think we've made important strides this offseason and look forward to how we match up against the Pats, Ravens, Falcons and other top NFL teams this season. I also would like to see the team play better against teams they should beat, instead of playing down to them.

Another reason why I suspect we will at least split with them:

-We finally have better athletes, instead of the Parcellian approach of "my guys will out smart/tough discipline yours" we have guys who can make plays happen.

Game I'm looking forward to early in the year is the Saints, in NOLA, that will be an excellent measuring stick.

Looking ahead to the days when teams worry about playing us instead of "us" worrying about playing them.

hah, LeGarrette Blount... another questionable character.... which leads us to reason #6. The patriots have lost the "Patriot way". Desperate enough to take chances on the Ochocinco's, Haynesworth's, Stallworth's, Talib's, Meriwether's, Hernandez's, etc. Brady and the thugs basically. The players considered classy can't keep their wives from bickering publicly. Belichick cheating on his wife.... did i mention the whole dynasty was a sham ? They cheated and haven't been the same since. Throw in Tebow, who will make more distracting headlines than actual plays.... It's not the same team. They dont have that awesome defensive core that Parcells actually assembled. Brady, while still a very good QB, doesnt have the fire anymore....its plain as day.

I still think they win the division, but our time is coming.

Statistically they're about the same. Being this good for this many years you'd expect them to have a couple rings. They got three and just happened to win them early on. Championships aren't easy to win in professional sports.

45 years from now, only old AFC East and maybe Colts fans will make note of when the rings came.
