I think that's a pretty big exaggeration. I bet Philbin and whomever talk to Mike Pouncey and that's the end of it.

Other than QBs, the OL are generally the most intelligent players on a football team.

It's only an exaggeration if you know exactly how the responding actions will play out ahead of time. What happens when Hernandez is found guilty of murder and is hypothetically charged and found guilty of those other murders and this Pouncey picture resurfaces following the trial or trials (which it will)? Pittsburgh didn't want Mendenhall back. How do you think Miami's front office will feel about re-signing Mike while there's a despicable image of him openly supporting a convicted killer still fresh in everyone's mind? Is that a player you would want to give a $50 million contract to?

....just as everyone witnessing this [including the entire NFL and Miami organization] has the right to form an opinion that this display is disgusting to say the least and is not how they want to be represented. So yes, there's legally no problem with the Pounceys sporting those hats, but that doesn't mean their actions don't have consequences. By law and according to nature I can fart where ever and whenever I want, but you won't see me intentionally forcing out a cheek flapper in my CEO's presence.

That's a false belief. AH is not innocent. The weapon charges alone are indisputable, so no matter how you slice it, the Pounceys are openly supporting criminal action.

Like I said, I imagine Ireland, Philbin, etc. will talk to him and you won't see any other pictures like that. If this is the only thing that comes of it, as far as Mike Pouncey and the AH case are concerned, as long as he keeps playing like he has been; he'll get his contract.

You sure of that? How many Dolphins played hard and played well the past 2 years but either didn't get their contract or were cut b/c they didn't meet Philbin's standard of keeping quiet and not creating distraction or disturbance?

It wasn't a comment about their intelligence. Olinemen are usually the more protective people on the team. When you get into a scrap they are the guys you want to go to war with. That's what I meant about the comment about their personality type.

Innocent until proven guilty. While I don't believe the result will be otherwise, we can't say he's guilty until the verdict drops.

  19. Why not?? You gonna sit there and tell me if I see someone shoot someone I can't say for sure he did it until a jury convicts him?? That's just silly. I agree we have to abide by the rules and laws of the land, but 12 jurors opinion of what might have happened is not going to change my opinion one way or the other. I have a brain and can think for myself, and won't change my mind because someone else thinks different. Do you or anyone else believe OJ didn't kill those two?? Just because the jury said he wasn't guilty sure didn't change my mind, or anyone I know for that matter.

Not to mention Pouncey is still very young and immature so he's not thinking on this matter with a full deck. Honestly I don't give a hoot so long as Pouncey isn't implicit or involved in any way, and he kicks some DL butts.

That's bologna and naive, sorry. We can think he's guilty all we want. 12 random citizens with no greater deductive ability or intelligence as a whole than myself aren't miraculously given the ability of clairvoyance just b/c they're assigned the jury box. Their verdict is SUBJECTIVE, Silver. They aren't professional jurors who have this down to a science, and their opinion isn't any more credible than mine. The only difference is their opinion has been randomly chosen to be used in this case.

The unibomber could've been caught redhanded and he'd still get his day in court. Would that make him innocent until those 12 random jurors say otherwise?

    Ugh. Mike, Mike, Mike...

You all have to understand, when Mike sees this hat, he doesn't think of Aaron the cold-blooded murderer. He thinks about his friend, whom he shared millions of moments. And that friend is in jail. Whether Aaron shot these people or not, he's still Mike's friend. So Mike's loyal to that.

Another thing, these people Aaron killed sound like bad apples themselves. That doesn't justify murder, but it's not like Aaron is shooting choir boys, here. Keep that perspective. Had Aaron been charged with...i dunno...child Mo*les*tasion (can't even type it)....maybe Mike wouldn't be so quick to wear a "Free _____" hat. Which are stupid in my opinion. I'm "loya' to a lot of people you all wouldn't be, but I never understood why'd you want to "Free" murderers. Even if my family member murderered someone, I think prison would help him realize his actions were wrong, regardless of who's "loyal" to him.

In the end, Aaron will probably realize his mistakes, appreciate the loyalty but explain to all of his "loyal" friends that his actions were wrong. Which is ironic, since this display by the Pouncey's is now, when Aaron probably naievely still thinks it's "him against the world."

The Dolphins & Steelers will try to reason with the brothers and explain, "this ain't cool. you represent us..."

and lastly, WHAT THE F are they doing taking pictures!? haven't they learned from Michael Phelps, the NBA Ref hanging picture, and countless other examples; these people taking the PIC DO NOT WANT THE BEST FOR YOU, it WILL BE SOLD and WILL BACKFIRE.

That's probably the most aggravating thing. That the Pouncey brothers allowed pictures to be taken. They are great football players, but like Phinishline said; they're simply different than all of you. Frankly, aside from them being football players, and us being fans...they're not in your reality lol.

Ahhh right, Hernandez the vigilante was attempting a Dexterly deed by ridding the world of bad people.

That's ridiculous. Reality is reality. Either you're in it or you're not. Football players don't live in a parallel universe when they're not on the field. They know what real world reality is; some of them simply choose to believe it doesn't apply to them, and their ignorance doesn't get a pass just b/c they're recognized figures.

that's not what i meant. let's not lose perspective here. Hernandez murdered gang-bangers, does that justify murder? no, but it isn't like he's just picking innocent people and shooting them in the face. gang-bangers killing gang-bangers isn't anything new. this time, it's just a damned shame the murderer is a gifted athlete.

and yes, reality is reality....but you're so FAR OUT Of his reality, there's no point in even thinking about it. just knit your sweaters. If Mike Pouncey wasn't a football player, most of you wouldn't last a minute of conversation outside of the weather.

and neither are all the related deaths of innocent people caught in the middle. Stray bullets and so forth.

WRONG. He's out of MY reality, the same reality this country as a whole is in. Pacman Jones thought he lived in this "external reality" you speak of, but the real world reality showed him it was a mirage and brought him back.

Yeah I'll knit a sweater, size Extra Delusional. PM me your address where to send it.

What the heck does this even mean?! Sounds to me like you yourself might not be the most honest of people, so rationalizing Pouncey's action serves as a way to rationalize your own perhaps.

Please. You've twisted my initial post to fit the judgement you make of anyone outside of your "perfect" ideology. You fail to realize that there are people who think completely different than you, and that doesn't make them wrong. But it's useless arguing that with you. Even the way you reply to posts, you love to judge and argue. That's fine, guy. Life must be so perfect for one to think they're so HIGH and MIGHTY! Good for you, pal!

I liked your football related posts much better. Enjoy the rest of your day.

I think an important aspect that is missing to this discussion is that nobody, and I mean nobody...........that is familiar with the details of this case thinks Hernandez is innocent.

They might say they do because they want him to get away with it, but no sane person even considers their being a slight possibility of innocence.

Pouncey isn't a fool, or an idiot or a ******. He is an intelligent young man.

His support for the murderer is immoral, and perhaps even slightly evil, and it may damage his standing amongst his teammates.

There isn't anything good about this.

Why would anyone even try to defend this???? It is indefensible.

Okay, guys. What'll clear this up for you all...Pouncey saving face and apologizing? Done.

Does that change anything? Have any of you ever had ONE conversation with Mike? Do you know what kind of person he is?

Lol like others have said, what matters to me is how he manhandles defensive linemen, and hopefully linebackers. That's it. That's what I care about. Other than that, he can live it up with thugs and wear offensive hats all he wants, as long as he stays out of legal trouble. Call me crazy for thinking that way, I don't really care about your opinion, either.

So it's a big enough deal that the teams are going to sit the players down and talk to them about it.
