So what's the thought process here?

Are they doing this just to save money? Are they looking at a certain player? or are they looking to get some of the young players in the mix?

If it is for the money, I understand it, but I'm not thrilled. If for the other two, what are the options?

They can save 40M and get pretty damn near the same production......it is also why not? Plus maybe Section can tell ya better, could they be prepping for a max contract for Bron if he should opt out after this year?

The money is certainly a part of it and the tax has to come into the equation when you are considering age and production.

The only team that has thrown complete caution to the wind is Brooklyn and time will tell whether it makes any difference.

Given what Sec has said, a parting now may have been for the best, though I wish Micky could have sucked it up for one more year and amnestied Mike next year, but I'm not broken up about it. For all his big moments (and they were big, don't get me wrong) he scored 0 points in Game 7 against both Indy and SA.

We have other guys capable of getting hot and we'll see what additions we make.

Is Timofey Mozgov a free agent?

Mozgov is restricted I believe, if he hasn't already agreed to a new contract with Denver.

Greg Oden's agent just said this could make Miami a more attractive suitor. I was under impression this didn't allow Miami to increase their offer to him since they were still over the cap?

I doubt the Heat want to give more money to Greg Oden, even if they had the money to give.

    He's boom/bust.

If you get the boom it's a guaranteed era of dominance with Oden/Lebron/Wade and you can probably move Bosh for pieces. More likely you get the bust and he's injured and never plays.

I won't lie...I like gambles. I hope he ends up here.

I would not move Bosh if Oden was here. Bosh is a better player than Oden can EVER be.

Disagree. If Oden is as good as he was supposed to be coming into the NBA (which again I doubt very highly) he has a chance to be dominant. I don't believe anyone thinks Bosh is dominant at his position.

Oden was only ever projected as a great defensive player and rebounder. His projection has him with little to no chance at the HOF, and that was when he got drafted. Oden is one dimensional.

Bosh is already a lock for the HOF, and a two way player.

I would not give Oden anything higher than the minimum. IMHO Greg Oden is more fool's gold than diamond in the rough.

The last thing you need is sunk money on an injured/under-performing player when you have the big 3 opting out in one season, and an imperative need to resign them and secure pieces around them.

Damn, hate to see Mikey go. But I suppose it's for the best and it's not our money. Most owners would understandably be trying to cash in while the gettin's good. Mickey's done us a solid.

And yeah, Miller reeks of a guy who could knife us on the biggest stage.

I claim ignorance. Why? I never feel like I'm watching an all time great with Bosh. I feel like I'm watching an above average player who is a great piece on the right team.

I love Bosh and he certainly has a dominant skill set, but he rarely takes over a game or makes you say "wow". I see him as a guy with the potential to dominate who rarely does. I love Bosh I'm not saying he isn't great. I'm saying he could do well to trust his skill set more and that he doesn't seem to play to his potential a lot of the time.

Additionally, Oden (from here on out) will never match the minutes Bosh will put onto the court. So he can't even make up for being a worse player by being available more often.

If you have ever read "The Winner Within" by Pat Riley....

    He writes....

"There are never problems while you are on your journey to winning. Once you win.....is when the problems start."

Well, there you have it guys. A guy who anybody would have said was as good a team player and professional as there was in the NBA, asked for a trade after winning a championship because the Heat gave most of his minutes to Ray Allen.

The only credit to him is that he was very professional with his demands.

But, I would like for every Heat fan in this thread to read my sig, and realize, the Miami Heat is better off today than yesterday. It seems that Mike Miller wasn't a "Miami Heat guy".

They won two titles with the "non Heat" guy.

This is business, which is why anyone who begrudges athletes getting as much $$$ as they can at the time a fool.

Sixers going after David Fizdale. Going for Interview.

I will give you the front page on Fizzzzz. A lot of people think he is not ready to be a Head Coach in the NBA, but he is an invaluable member of this staff, and Wade and Bron LOVE him.

At this point, I just want the Sixers to hire a coach. I remember he was a name that was floated around a couple months ago when this process first started. If he gets a good recommendation from you, I'll be excited if they can hire him.

If Mike Miller actually asked for a trade because the Heat gave most of his minutes to Ray Allen, hes an idiot. Given the state of his body, he should be writing them a thank you for prolonging his career. Thats just not very bright.

Just because Miller wanted more minutes doesn't mean he is someone we don't/shouldn't want on the team. He did every single thing this team asked of him as far as I know and you can't fault a professional for wanting to compete. Basketball is probably his #1 love in life aside from his family I would assume. Who can fault the man for wanting to you know....play basketball.

It won't break us as a team, but I don't think we are somehow better without the guy unless we fill his roster spot with someone who brings something to the table. The good thing is that James Jones and Rashard Lewis aren't slackers themselves.

Well..then he's a idiot, because he asked for the trade.

Heat tried to trade him this past week, and he nixed a couple of deals, because he wants to play for Memphis.

Disagree with the notion that it's selfish for a guy to object to being on a championship team but not ever playing. Think I saw that he was handed 23 DNPs this year. He'd just been the hero of the 2012 Finals and now he's a DNP guy. That's a tough choice...you've already got a ring and you can try and keep getting more rings but to do so you have to be a DNP guy. As an athlete he probably felt like he was just picking up a paycheck and not really earning anything. Can't blame him for wanting to move on. He was a hero for the Heat, so I don't think I agree with implying he's selfish and not a Heat type of player. Just appreciate what he did and let him move on.

I'm not going to bash Mike. Guy came in and gave us 3s in HUGE games. Also not going to get too down about losing him though. Plenty of games where he was nonexistent. Really this is just about leveraging the fact that we have tremendous shooters we can't even get off the bench to save the franchise $17 mil.

Still would like to see the Heat pick up one big. If nothing else I'd like Bosh and Battier to be able to play more minutes not having to guard guys bigger than them in the regular season so they have a little more in the tank next year in the playoffs.

problem is that with his injury history, the DNP's were helping him. They did him a favor, and that is why when the time came, he was healthy vs. the Spurs.

How much more does Miller have in the tank anyway? Hell the guy looks like an extra from the Walking Dead every time he runs down the court. There were time I legitimately felt bad for him between plays.

IF its my post youre referring to, I also included the term "Given the state of his body" because every basketball fan knows hes an injury waiting to happen and his career is probably on borrowed time. I understand athletes are there to compete but he should be real with himself and realize he had a perfect situation. Miami only needs him to play big minutes here and there otherwise come off the bench bang down a few 3's and play 15 minutes a night winning a championship or play 30 minutes a night and maybe not make it through a season.
