I dont remember this too much because I was 5 Lol but I do remember watching every single game with my father and this introduction brought back memories and also go to 35:53, when is the last time you guys remember one of our corners making a play like that? I dont remember
Oh and this is Just amazing, why did I have to be born in 87? I WISH the atmosphere was 10% of this in Miami these days
You pointed out a play JB Brown made. It was probably his ONLY play. He could not hold Sam Madison or Pat Surtain's jock.
Oh trust me I know that, that was actually more my era of when I really started understanding the game and loving it, I just came across this video and saw that play, if I had seen one of Madison's or Surtain's plays I would of said the same thing, pretty much just pointing out its been a LONG time since we had playmaking corners
Heck, you could probably say that about any corner Miami ever had other than Curtis Johnson and Troy Vincent.
Tim Foley is in there - and is generally regarded to have been better than Johnson. He was a very, very solid and underrated CB. And Don McNeal was very good until injuries ruined his career. There have been any number of CBs better than J.B. Brown in Miami history and that's was the purpose of the comparison.
Toast Buckley....I don't think so....He may have been decent for a game or two, but that's it...he basically sucked...
OT...Hate to burst your bubble, but JB was not a very good CB.... I'd take Smith over him at this point... But it was fun as fans for us because we could pretty much count on competing year in and year out...we've missed that, for sure... Hopefully this is the dawn of a new era of dominance...
You pointed out a play JB Brown made. It was probably his ONLY play Back then people would joke tha"JB" stood for "just burned". Our DBs have been not so special for the most part.
Foley shared time with Lloyd Mumphord and eventually got moved to safety. Mumphord started both Super Bowl wins over Foley. I have never heard of anyone before regarding Foley as a better corner than Johnson. Johnson was a fixture as a starter at corner all through the 70s. Same cannot be said for Foley.
Forgot about Tim since we only had him 1 year, but you are right, for that one year he played corner as well for us as anyone has. My original point though was, for by far most corners we have had, it is not fair to compare them to Sam and Patrick. Not just JB Brown.
Agree to the point that I would formulate the obverse statement - There haven't been many CB's who were NOT better than JB Brown! My everlasting horror is the memory of JB trailing a receiver with the winning touchdown in any number of games. ARGH!!!!
JB's only play is right! Burn Me Brown was awful. At that time if we gave up a play in the secondary you can bet it was to his side. I nominate him for the worst corner ever to see the field in a Miami Dolphin uniform.
