they did under Alex Gibbs, but that was like 2004-2006...Clabo cut his teeth on that scheme...I don't think they run it any longer...I know that Wash and Houston still run it...And Kelly ran it at Oregon was well...
Just all the differing of opinion were getting on our payers from media pundits..it's been a bit frustrating because really this is practice, and Philbin does things differently, I'm just looking for what individual players are flashing, cause to me trying to make sense of what their interpreting when it comes to offense and defense and how both units are functioning is a bit senseless.
Just a question to the board, with the seemingly dominant camp Odrick is having, the fact that Randy is a free agent next year, the depth we have at the position, the emergence of Vern, the drafting of Dion, does anyone think we should look to move randy if the price were right, say 2nd and 4th? Or should we just try and dominate this year and lose him for nothing.?
With how this dude knows this offense, the way he practices directing everyone on the field, how naturally accurate of a Qb he is, I seriously doubt the problems you hear from the reporters in practice are related to him.
Ask that again in about 6 weeks lol if the results are still the same and someone comes off a 2nd and 4th. I think you have to jump at it. Don't want to loose talent but that return is hard to pass up.
Sounds to me like the whole Dallas Thomas at LG and Richie Incognito at RG thing just got a whole lot more serious. Reports of John Jerry on crutches, now Dallas is working LG on both the 1st and 2nd string units. This went from a potential one day thing you see only because Jerry was absent for a day to something that could easily end up being the plan for week one. Consider me skeptical of the idea though. Dallas Thomas is a stronger pass protector than run blocker, but still a rookie...and I don't know how much I relish the idea of a rookie plus John Martin blocking Tannahill's blind side. I'd have to see that line run blocking well to believe it's going to happen. It would not be a very mobile line, either...aside from Pouncey.
mike wallace was asked "what did you learn about Tannehill that you didn´t know this week",...."Man I learn everyday that his arm is crazy strong, he can really fling it man"
Not sure how much chance Lance Louis is really going to get. They seem to really like Dallas Thomas and there's a tendency with Ireland to go with younger guys when it's close. They drafted Dallas pretty high. Wouldn't shock me at all to see them just decide that Dallas Thomas and Richie Incognito are the starters at those spots and this is the five man line they're going with. They'll let them practice together all camp to get chemistry.
Except Davis' skillset is very well suited to covering slot receivers. Carroll has more length and straight line speed but Will Davis' change of direction is probably the best of anyone on this team, and that includes being signifcantly better than Wallace or Thigpen and Carroll. Davis is certainly far less expensive than Patterson. The problem with Davis is his tackling, or lack of it. So, there's that... great break on the ball, great ball skills, poor tackling.
I think today was the first day that Louis even got involved much in the team practice, so it's still early to see whether he's going to get a shot or not. Next week will be more clear on whether he's got a chance.
I'm sure there's evidence to suggest that there is a considerable amount of luck involved. But I don't think it's pure luck. There are techniques that can be taught to help increase the chance of getting lucky. It's luck by design, so to speak.
I' m not sure hate is the right word. I just think Omar's personality is repellant to a large percent of people.
I'm good with those two switching because Richie can play over there and your putting a pretty talented rookie where he's familiar with, but, I don't think its because it's earned, that's just too much risk on the left sde with Martin.. Even though it's scary right now, wouldn't you say that it's the best five?
Odrick says we gonna go after the sack record.. Odrick and Starks in the inside, wake and Vern on the outside, and Dion anywhere the fu&$ he wants..lol
I really hope that our run D is still as solid as it was last year after moving Dansby and Burnett. I have a feeling the Pats will run a lot this year....
Don't lose track of Derrick Shelby either. Front 7 looks good, as for run D posted in club in 2011 Richard Marshall was the best tackling Cb in the league.
Agreed. Just very early. Even after first couple of game there will be room for changes. Especially if another player gets nicked up. Louis really needs to be healthy. If he isn't it won't matter. But, what will be interesting is to see what happens with Jerry. I haven't seen anything about how long he may be out or how serious his injury is. If he comes back in the next couple of days, then everything may change and revert back. I think it could be very dangerous to have Thomas at LG and Martin at LT. One guy with four starts there another with zero. They may be forced to do that (they were at this point) but I think if Jerry and Louis get healthy, there's no way they go with Thomas/Martin on the left. The other option could be to move Samuda to C and Pouncey to RG with Incognito at LG. That was tried and I think there is as good a chance of that happening as the Thomas insertion.
If we can rush those 5 and drop 6, with that kind of rush talent, sky's the limit if Dion can take all that pressure off wake and clean up his scraps..with the combination of Dions change of direction and his explosive length, sacks that we never seemingly could wrap up, are a thing of the past, this dude can pounce anything in a five yard radius..
I had read somewhere a while back the Louis probably wouldnt be ready until a few weeks into the regular season. IMO, there is no way Dallas starts ahead of Louis if Louis is healthy.
Just wondering how many starts did Webb and Sims had when they started protecting Marinos blind side?
