Good Morning, hope you are not to tired, i already played 2 hours of basketball today...so lets get this started, philbin already said yesterday, team will be in full pads today
has anyone read that piece about the best DE in football ? apparently he ran his conditioning test with the CB´s what a freak... http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/07/28/3526688_armando-salguero-dolphins-de-cameron.html
You think they bring another training camp qb? Seems silly to only have 3 qbs for 5 preseason games. Obviously Devlin could use alot of time but we know what Moore can do and you cant risk an injury to Tannehill.
There was an interview with Dallas Thomas a few days ago where he indicated he made sure he knew what he was doing prior to being asked to line up. This seems like a guy that will make sure he at least knows his assignments and will not make mental mistakes.
Ben Volin @BenVolin3m Me and you are getting an apartment together! RT @Jeff_Ireland: @BenVolin: I miss you so much. I miss your musk.
I agree, an extended pre-season will do him well as an audition for the role of back-up to Tannehill when/if Moore leaves.
He's very sound fundamentally. I've seen 2 of his games at UT in the last few years (against LSU and Alabama). He's been one of the few Vols that I came away impressed with during the games. I still think he's the LG of the future...and maybe the present!?!
Ya, I'm over Pouncey at G. Gunna have to keep an eye on that. I'm hoping for an abrupt end to that... lol
Well, it could be that Samuda is impressing and he's one of the best 5 right now. I can't see a way that Pouncey isn't the best C on the field, but maybe he's a better G than Samuda is ?? Geez, we used to biatch and moan when Sparano was doing this crap, but there might be a reason...we'll just have to wait and see. Has anyone seen any word on JJ's injury ??
It's so good that Martin has Wake to practice against, considering the weight of this move toward the season.
http://miamiherald.typepad.com/sports-buzz/#storylink=cpy That's a worrisome statement coming from Dion Jordan's college defensive coordinator. Explains why he used Dion in coverage so much, and sometimes even subbed him out on pass rush downs.
exactly. let Devlin play a boatload of the preseason. can only help us. the only downside is he might get banged up behind 2nd an d3rd string OL, but he's the 3rd stringer, so he has time to heal
yep, i saw that too, its not good that as a high pick you are already at the end of your pass rush skills according to your college coach, right now i hope thats a typo
I'm not sure I buy the ceiling part, unless Jordan doesn't have the ability to learn anything new. maybe he hit his ceiling at Oregon because the coaches there had nothing left to teach him.
I was thinking along those same lines...also, it could mean he'd reached near his ceiling for how they used / planned to use him...who knows...all I know is I saw some nice video of him getting to the QB / pocket.
IMO, I think you are making a little too much of that statement. Being close to your ceiling in no way always means there isn't room for significant improvement and refinement, or mean the athlete is even close to his "peak" for that matter. As an athlete, if you can get to the professional level close to 95 percent of what you envision your peak level being, your in damn good shape. Developing that last 5% is often the hardest task, but also the most noticeable In the case with Dion, why are we surprised by that statement? Because he didn't rack up 10+ sacks as a senior? Not trying to pick a fight by an means, just think we may be jumping the gun a bit.
Um meaning what? Jordan has a learning disability and can't learn new pass rush moves? He's not athletic enough to beat NFL tackles? Or he just isn't a hard enough worker to get better? That statement is an absolute crock. You can't say any college player is near ceiling unless they play the game flawlessly at the college level. Which none of them do.
Don't tell me, tell the coach that coached him for a number of years at Oregon. It's just his opinion.
David Canter @davidcanter3m And we finally have a training camp fight. Samuda vs Odrick. No winner but was a good 6 seconds of fun pic.twitter.com/FNWbedrjGZ Chris Perkins @chrisperk3m FIGHT!! Samuda v Odrick. No biggie. One writer cracked its most fight he's seen from OL all day. Armando Salguero @ArmandoSalguero3m First of mini fight of the training camp Josh Smuda versus Jared Odrick. Advantage Smuda Omar Kelly @OmarKelly4m Jared Odrick ripped off his own helmet and kept coming at Josh Samuda. Got to love football! James Walker @JamesWalkerESPN4m There's our first fight of #Dolphins training camp. C Josh Samuda vs. DE Jared Odrick. I'm surprised it took a week. Fight!!
Omar Kelly @OmarKelly1m Dion Jordan struggled at little with Jeff Adam during 1-on-1. Chris Perkins @chrisperk1m Dion Jordan just went 1-on-1 v. Martin & looked decent. Martin having decent camp. Not great but decent. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly2m Dion Jordan just got by Jonathan Martin with ease. You know and O-lineman gets destroyed when he claps his hands after. Martin did.
Chris Perkins @chrisperk27s Olivier Vernon puts nice spin move on Martin in 1-on-1 drill. Vernon having good camp. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly1m I'm going to say this right now. Josh Samuda should be starting. He anchors better than some starters. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly2m Lance Louis just took a 1-on-1 rep. Looked pretty stout. First contact work I've seen him do.
Omar Kelly @OmarKelly22s Josh Samuda is the starting left guard for the final 11-on-11s. Not going to say I told you.
Omar Kelly @OmarKelly1m Jared Odrick knocks down a 3rd-and-10 pass for Tannehill. 4th down now. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly3m Pocket collapsed on Tannehill. Odrick and Vernon drop pocket in. Tannehill scrambles away but he would have been sacked in live action. Odrick's been a beast all training camp, I hope it continues through pre-season and into the regular season.
