Or, could simply be his way of saying Jordan is NFL ready coming out of college. IMO, Jordan will an Elite level passrusher and defender in 2 yrs, a sort of do it all player who can dominate series.
James Walker @JamesWalkerESPN14s #Dolphins rookie CB Will Davis picks off QB Pat Devlin to end practice. First big play he's made in training camp. Chris Perkins @chrisperk1m Will Davis INT!! Pick 6! The rook shows something. But it's still been a shaky camp for him. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly1m Pat Devlin just gave up an interception to Will Davis, who jumped a route. One play spoils Devlin's amazing day. Chris Perkins @chrisperk2m Guessing Jordan not cleared for contact. AJ Francis runs 2nd team RDE.
Omar Kelly @OmarKelly 26s Dion Jordan just got by Jonathan Martin with ease. You know and O-lineman gets destroyed when he claps his hands after. Martin did. Chris Perkins @chrisperk26s Dion Jordan just went 1-on-1 v. Martin & looked decent. Martin having decent camp. Not great but decent. Omar Kelly @OmarKelly20s Marvin McNutt just caught a one-handed catch from Ryan Tannehill during 7-on-7. Adam Beasley @AdamHBeasley28s Catch of the day: Marvin McNutt. Screams across middle of the field. Pass from 17 just out of reach. Tips once to himself. Stride unbroken. i don't see him beating out Binns or Matthews but McNutt is making a case for keeping 6 recievers James Walker @JamesWalkerESPN1m #Dolphins TE Dion Sims with a nice catch from QB Matt Moore. Adam Beasley @AdamHBeasley19s Moore to Hartline for a touchdown in 7-on-7s. Pretty good day for the offense. Chris Perkins @chrisperk57s LT Jeff Adams does good job v Jordan. Adams making good name 4 himself. Runs 2nd team LT. Jordan making decent showing. Courtesy of uk dolfan
Binns sounds like he is dinged in the knee, so perhaps the door cracks open for McNutt who is making the right kind of noise, as is Samudha
I wish CK woulda gotten that quote to Ireland before the draft!!! What a wasted pick, coulda had two twos, now we got a DE that's peaked already.
Hmm..Pouncey to LG..Richie to RG, seems like I banged that drum a couple of years ago and was shot down. Only question is whether Samudha could fill in at C and get to the second level approximately as well as Pouncey, or perhaps D Thomas wins the LG job, either way Richie I has always seemed like a RG to me.
Seems that the collective hopinion has been down on Jerry since he got in Miami, and its good, IMO, that this has happened "now" since the team can evaluate the young guys who appear to be taking advantage of the opportunity. We hear of a couple of plays in a certain Line-up, but the coaches have the tape to review of the whole practice.
Player a few of us been talking about, He was dominant in college in division 2 level, his center of gravity is really solid and stout, he's explosive and strong in short areas, shows quickness out of his stance, and is very aggressive when engagement, fun to watch..until we have some pro reps to look at it's difficult to project but his college highlights (YouTube only) show flashes of a fast twitch big man athlete in a more compact style of Olineman..body is interesting.
If samuda can hold down center then I think it would be a great thing to have pouncey out next to Martin
Wonder if Pouncey would view a guard position as a downgrade to center? What would that do to his psyche.
The lil tank can run man...he's one of those exceptions when it comes to his body, it doesn't look like it could be that athletic, that strong, or that fast, but he clocked a 4.95. Max squat is 600, 425 on the bench..two years in a pro strength program has probably helped him get every stronger and quicker..
If that is what he means, there is little reason for worry in that regard. I do like that he's added weight. Hopefully it is good weight.
I guess the reason their not letting samuda and Dallas compete for the left guard position and moving Pouncey to guard, is to protect Martin with a vet no?
I didnt want the kicker, was willing to give carpenter another chance, restructure sounds good to me.
Figure it out now! Between Samuda, Thomas, Jerry, and Louis, we may actually have real competition at guard. And as much as I like him, I think it's pretty unlikely Cogs gets resigned after this year. Let's see what we have.
Still not sure why everyone is so down on Carpenter. Dude ended last year right at his career averages, if not better.
Deej...Wake took his conditioning test with the Db's, he feels he as fast as Mike Wallace. The mancrush grows..
Todd posted some stats that showed I believe he's no better than top 15, think it was around #18.. Stats don't lie when it comes to kickers ya know..it shocked me cause I always thought he was a good kicker who just missed a couple of clutchers..maybe Todd will repost his findings?
My perception of Carpenter is the same as I used to see Terry Pendleton from baseball years ago. No off season workouts or preparation to get ready for the season. TP would show up out of shape every year saying they don't pay me to workout in the off season so I get in shape at camp. Carp. SEEMS to have a slow start every year but since he has to fight for his job this year, he is doing good this year. Could be a big reason we lost 2 games last year. Just a perception, not saying it as a fact.
What was interesting in college and helpful to him for the long haul, was they moved him between left and right guard depending on which was the strong side of the formation. I can't recall which, but he was always either the strong side or the weak side guard. So he has extended experience on both sides of the line.
I'm sure you're talking about a different Todd, but I'll chime in anyway haha. At 81.5% accuracy Carp ranked 26th in the NFL in accuracy last season (number one? Kai Forbath of the Redskins....props to you if you guessed that one, he converted 94.4%). While Carp did come up big in the Seattle game, we all know he could have won the first Jets game and the Cards game.
Carpenter also was 27th in average Kickoff starting position with opponents on average starting at the 24.4 yard line. Here is the site with all the info. http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/statistics/player/kicking/sort/kickoff_avg_start/2012
I've seen him track running backs that are comin off the reception in the flat for 3 years, he's a sub 4.6 guy..can you remember Wake trailing a back who's trying to get to the edge?.... Me neither..
Carp needs to go if the rookie is anywhere close to being as good or better than him. Carp makes way to much money for a below average kicker. He struggles under pressure and once rattled he struggles to regain his composure. The only improvement I saw from him last year was his leg strength seemed marginally improved.
Dion Jordan is a freestyle football player..don't think he should be pigeon holed..I don't think he should just be a defensive end, I could be wrong, but I'd like to see the whole package on display.
