Sucks for Binns, but as long as Matthews isn't out too long then I don't think the impact on us will be too big. We didn't see much, ie none, success last year from combing the vet WR market, so I don't see us doing it at this stage.

IMO, the available WRs at this point are a better group to pick from than what there was a year ago at this time.

Almost nobody sees it as a big deal in terms of the team. Matthews will miss some of preseason and was/is probably our #4. Our probable #5 is gone for the year (only Omar and those listen to him had him as some kind of lock for #4).

Tough break... what about Stafford? Is he too raw? I would LOVE to see us pick up Stokely or someone comparable for quality depth.

I was "one of those guys" so you label me as an Omar follower? I thought we were friends...

It was interesting to note that I believe FinNasty reported that Marcus Thigpen was working at receiver yesterday. I think that was also reported in Armando's blog as well. There might be an "in house" #5 WR, and Thigpen already fills some roles as the kick and punt returner. Give him a shot. He was pretty dynamic back in his days at IU as a RB/WR.

Thigpen has been working at receiver a lot more than tailback since he arrived a year ago.

I always wondered if we would ever even consider 6 WRs when Binns was healthy simply because of this.

It's not your fault. The news appears to be all about how Binns is doing well and all the other receivers have done nothing. But if you ignore Omar's tweets (and read everybody else's) you see a much more balanced picture of many receivers doing well.

I'm fine with Mcnutt get more reps in practice, he can play as well as Binns I believe..same size..same speed i believe, Mcnutt has better hands..

Thigpen was more of a slot guy in the CFL, thing is he bulked up this year to play more at Rb so hopefully he has not lost his quicks.

I thought Binns was way underrated by the commentariat, and THill liked him as well.

Well, that is the nature of the jungle, now the other guys should have an even larger fire lit under their asses to perform even better as imo Binns was a lock for the #4 Wr job, now it is wiiide open.

Actually, I thought inconsistent hands were McNutt's problems before he got here ??

Per Barry Jackson, we're working on Laurent Robinson in the next day or two.

Wouldn't be a bad signing. Don't know what his health is but he was really good for the Cowboys 2 years ago.

Was a guy I would have loved to sign as a cheap value free agent back when he was coming out of St. Louis. He ended up in Dallas and blew up. I'd have still been interested coming out of Dallas but the Jaguars really bid him up way too much. After all the concussions he's back to being a cheap value free agent, so again I would have interest.

But truthfully, he's a spoon tap away from scrambled eggs and he should probably just retire. He's the one taking all the risk, not the fans, so it's his choice to make...but I would feel a little like I'm enabling a terrible decision.

I'd rather see them try to bring Donald Jones.
