I like Hartline, check the sig. Hartline is poised to have his best year yet, excited for him. Did I say L.Robinson was better? Doubt it, but anyone who did sure had reasons too believe it.
Dallas always seems to have a new guy breaks out early to mid season. However, they fail to make the playoffs by losing divisional games late in the season. Is it because Dallas offense if predictable? And while the new guy may add a different dimension, do the end-of-season losses indicate that such players are not that special? Binns was Miami's 'different' guy. His off-season work improved the timing with the QBs, which seemed to solve the drop issue. As for Robinson, he likely does not have the luxury to be different and develop timing with the QBs. Likely, he'll need to demonstrate that he can run Hartline's route tree in order for the staff to view a realistic 4th WR option. If he cannot, it's likely that TEs will takeover many of Binns roles.
It wasn't me (never really paid much attention to Robinson) - but, in fact, a "couple of seasons back," he was better than Brian Hartline. He had 54 receptions and 11 TDs for the Cowboys in '11. Hartline had 35 for 1 TD (the most receptions until last year were 43). Robinson's 11 TD's in one season are almost double Hartline's career. He's not better now - but it's hard to compare since his concussions have become a problem. And, last year he had the worst QB play in the league at Jacksonville to go with the concussions (the Jax QB situation is enough in itself to concuss someone!). If he is healthy and able to return to his 2011 form, he could really be a solid addition. But, I also hope Matthews returns to full health.
Yeah, why the hate on whomever said Laurent Robinson was better than Hartline a couple years ago? In hindsight it may have been a mistake (but maybe he doesn't get the concussions here in Miami) but at the time, who would give up a 850/11 guy over Hartline? Hartline marginally got better in 2012. His production was the result of more targets, but he was doing it against more #1s. But that's it. And his TD production actually went down if you can believe that. I like Hartline. Great #2. Excellent #3. But he is what he is.
