Seriously. How sick in the head do you have to be to, when asked to draw the Miami Dolphins, sketch out THIS:
I think Davis is a natural play maker. He'll get beat some but he'll also make some (more?) plays on the ball (lots of PDs and picks).
Ireland will have hit on Tannehill, Miller, Vernon and potentially Martin, Randall & Matthews from that draft, but he'll get blasted for Egnew...I guarantee it.
Talked about this when we drafted him: his college highlights inside the 20 are fantastic. Because he's so quick with that cod and break, he's very hard to beat in tight spaces. His college videos showed the same thing (see vid when LaTech ran redzone plays for Quinton Patton from the 5-10 and Davis denies them). When there's less threat of getting beat deep, this kid seriously holds it down. You can see those physical tools he has when he blankets guys in the red zone. With a little more experience playing & learning the game, I think he's going to be a very good corner.
Unfortunately no. The 2012 rookies were asked to sketch out their own player card, and this is what Michael Egnew drew.
I've said from the start, my read on him is that he has deep emotional problems. My guess is he was abused a lot as a little kid, before settling with his final adoptive family.
Let's not analyze him. Let's just enjoy this broken, cubist Dolphin for what it is. Which is hilarious.
I agree. I wanted Bailey (WR) at that spot (but he went one spot before) so I was a disappointed at first, but I do think his skill set fits what Miami wants.
The vision that always pops into my head with Will Davis is that Tracy Porter INT of Peyton Manning to seal the Saints Superbowl victory. That's the sort of player I see Will Davis capable of ultimately being in this league, he will have his very big moments. He will also get beat and frustrate you with his lack of physicality as a tackler.
Will Davis just needs coached up, and he could stand to add some muscle. According to this video, he posted the best 3-cone of anybody at the combine, is this true? http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-draft/0ap2000000160845/2013-Draft-profile-CB-Will-Davis-Utah-St Edit: Nevermind, I just checked, and it's true. Will Davis is a 6.52, T.J. Moe (WR, Missouri) with a 6.53. The next closest person is .1 behind that, if that matters for anything.
The timing was off for Manning and the receiver on that play, but Porter still had the instinct to move up and make the play on the ball. I think he was moving forward before Manning had released the ball. That's something Miami has lacked for sometime. In my dreams we have a blitz happy defense this year that's as scary as the Bears D in '85. That results in tons of TOs and picks by our secondary. On offense, Miller runs free as defenses are too scared to bring up their Ss due to Wallace's speed. And even in obvious run situations they get burnt by RT on the read option when they crash inside too quickly. RT throws very few INTs and peppers the D to pick up critical first downs to Gibson, Hartline and Keller. Wallace and then Hartline and Matthews snag a few long TDs as well. The season wraps up with Davis housing a Porter like INT to seal the SB win. (Shortly after Heath Evans is committed after he's found babbling insanely and frothing at the mouth).
I think Lamar Miller's is even better. The Dolphins have some real artists: Edit: I've taken a long look at this, consulted with experts, etc and I'm pretty sure it's a postmodern critique of the human condition.
Here's my thought on Will Davis. First off he didn't make my targets. The reason why was because I had a number of problems with him that constituted risk factors. A couple I can deal with. Add them all up and we're definitely borderline. The first problem is, whatever exaggeration you want to throw out there about a guy's attitude toward support tackling, is probably accurate about Will. I mean, the word 'pathetic' comes to mind and I'm a guy that will even stick up for Sean Smith's tackling efforts. I think it's an attitude thing, no I do not think it really compares that well with Sam Madison, and I think it's going to more closely approximate what you've seen out of Antonio Cromartie and/or DeAngelo Hall in their careers. That will be a problem for some defensive coordinators, not as much for others. The second problem I had with him is that when tested deep, he got burned. Not necessarily because of speed, I had him as having more of a problem with over aggressiveness and physicality (an underpinning which, when linked with his attitude in run support, scares me). You put those two things together with his poor practice week at the Senior Bowl, my feeling that even though he's got a decent 40 he lacks top end closing speed, and his being a bit of a one year wonder...and he ended up a guy that I like for a lot of reasons but would rather let someone else take a chance on. That said, I'm probably going to regret that. The guy is quick as a hiccup and has great acceleration. If he had top end speed and a physically aggressive attitude, then he would be just about everything you're looking for on videotape. He would be D.J. Hayden. The thing that gets me is we knew this guy was aggressive on the ball and makes plays. He had 5 picks and tied Jason Verrett (future 1st rounder, IMO) and Dee Milliner (present 1st rounder) for number of passes defensed, 3rd in the nation in PBUs. A week into training camp he's got 5 more PBUs and 2 more picks. Coincidence? Hardly. And I love when they bite like puppies like that, as the old Parcells saying goes. I still think there were too many risks when you put it all together but there's a fair chance I'm going to be wrong. But also a fair chance I'm going to be right.
The yellow figures are clearly Odin Lloyd and his spirit rising to heaven. We can assume which one is Hernandez... Lamar Miller can see the future. So when he says he will run for 1500 yards, book it.
That theory doesn't hold water when you realize the clouds are eyes and a nose and the water is a mouth. Since all the blue makes a face that's about to eat all the people, this is clearly an ode to an ancient giant hellbent on eating any group of people who are in the act of enjoying themselves. Which makes sense since Miller's minor was Ancient Giant Religions of the Early Americas.
I'd say something about the colors of the players but... I'll go ahead anyway... I'm guessing that's one of the Zendejas brothers on the floor?
Here’s a bunch of them. http://www.beckett.com/news/2012/07/paninis-nfl-rookie-drawn-sketch-cards-available-at-nscc/ This is Thill’s
Hopefully the first words of the instructions were, "Now pretend you're back in kindergarten". .....to which Cam Newton replied, "Man I ain't never even held a shovel yet!"
ive written this a coup,e times, I've watched that Patton game in its entirety entirely focused on the matchup with Davis, Davis locked his *** down the whole first half, Patton had a couple catches for minimal yardage, then because Davis was dominating, they put Patton on the other side, the coaching staff kept Davis on his side, and Patton started to find a groove, then in latter part of the game, Davis let up a bit on some deep stuff, got frustrated, and lost his focus and intensity, in the first half the dude was walking around like he just won a co$k fight.. What I like is the fact that when the game was filled with adrenaline, Davis clearly win the matchup..my hope is his focus and intensity will be taught by pro coaches to improve, but imo that is who he is..Once again, hopefully he's not the kind of player who plays up or down to the level of competition..
I'm rootin for the dude..as long as he understands and actually works on his craft in the offseason, like he did with gore, he's smart enough for me.
Well, that's the last ****ing straw. Need to straight up cut this guy. Does he do anything remotely right?
There's smart and football smart. Gore may not be smart (learning disability), but he's football smart. If Miller can produce for us like Gore has, I'll be satisfied with his intelligence.
Unless I skipped over it I didn't see anything about Keller? Something about no drops in training camp, but nothing from the scrimmage. Did he play?
