No. 1: TE Michael Egnew Analysis: After showing a few flashes in organized team activities, Egnew has been a non-factor in the first two weeks of training camp. The 2012 third-round pick is showing some of the same struggles he had last year as a rookie. Egnew isn’t making plays, he's fumbled in camp and his blocking is still poor. On top of that, the other tight ends -- free agent pickup Dustin Keller, rookie Dion Sims and backup Kyle Miller -- are consistently making plays. Egnew must have a good preseason or his chances of making the team are looking bleak. Miami general manager Jeff Ireland might want to hold onto a third-round draft pick from a year ago regardless, but Egnew hasn't shown enough up to this point. http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/61880/miami-dolphins-bubble-watch Personally I think he is gone this year.He has too many holes in his game and not enough talent to justify a roster spot IMO .Too bad I wont be able to get many more laughs at the Eggnog jokes during the holidays. I have to agree with the next three choices as well .Carpenter and Lane will be looking for a new teams.Fuller has not shown enough in his second year IMO. Nolan Carroll may stick but ultimately he may be caught in the numbers game . In summary I think these bubble players will ultimately burst as suggested. If you dont agree which 5 players would you pick as being on the bubble ?
Nolan Carrol is a decent Cb, not great, not bad, he lost a lot of roster value when he could no longer return kicks.
What a gig this James walker dude has, travels to the four afc east teams and writes about his findings.. He's actually more tuned into our team than any national writer out there I think..he's been to a lot of practices and OTA's. I'm good with letting Nolan walk..unless we're gonna keep 6
Depends, adding 2 Rook Cb's means the squeeze is on, with Marshal/Patterson/Grimes/Taylor/Davis, #5 is anyone's guess, not sure about 6 Cb's would tend to doubt as a 4-3 team tends to carry DT depth as well. What is interesting is Jimmy Wilson has quietly switched to Safety after 2 yrs of the FO/Staff swearing he was a Cb. Really really like his game, he has a Bob Sandersesque approach to tackling.
Quite often teams will have 10 DBs - and I could see 6 CBs and 4 Safeties (which would keep Carroll in there). Sometimes roster spots come down not to competition at one position but between positions. It could be Carroll vs a 5th safety or another slot on offense depending on talent and depth. Definitely the first four are on the bubble and I have significant doubts Egnew, Lane or Carpenter will make it. I don't even see Fuller on the bubble unless Matthews can't get back from his injury. Then he'd be on the bubble.
Seems to me most of our bubble players are WRs or OL but it is waay too early to predict how that plays out. Only thing I can point to right now is McNutt makes the squad because he may be having a decent camp, but more due to the injury to Binns.
Notice how much better James Walker's list is than that of Omar Kelly, who has multiple guys who have been elevated to starters surprisingly. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...ubble-0804-20130803,0,1112407.story?track=rss
Honestly I can't say I have a problem with that article from Omar, the only question I have is, was that list written about earlier because the intro makes it sound like a list that was commented on earlier. But I agree that all of those players have been bubble players this offseason, and even still Samuda seems to be the only sure shot to make it now (maybe Spitler too for his special teams contributions). Having said that I expect Matthews and McNutt to make it as well as Shelby, Patterson and McCray.
